- Enable cc for English subtitles! Kushikatasu Tanaka Singapore, a kushi katsu chain from Japan invited me for their media preview. I am from Osaka, where kushikatsu originated from. Is it really authentic and good? Let's find out.
Their kushikatsu starts from 1.20SGD, which is around the same price as in Japan. Great pricing! I especially liked the Shitake Niku Tsume, Bacon Tomato, and Onion. You will not be disappointed!

シンガポールの串カツ田中がグランドメニューを新しくしたということで、お呼ばれして行ってきました！日本にないオリジナルメニューも爆食！
料金は安くて1.20SGD（100円）なのでシンガポールにしては激安。カキやアスパラなど高い串は2.80SGD（約240円）しますが、それでもあまり日本と変わらない印象。一等地でこの値段なので、企業努力が感じられます。
個人的に好きだったのはシンガポール限定メニューの「肉詰めシイタケ」。間違いなく、最高においしかったです。あとはトマトベーコン、エビ、玉ねぎなども美味。
日本の串かつ田中と同じようにチンチロゲームや安い料金が楽しめますので、お得です。

When you see him ordering twice of that item, order that when you're there. When they started business here, they mainly sold Japanese-style Kushikatsu, but the number of Japanese customers and the local customers were decreased, and overseas travelers became their main customers, the Tanaka finally adjusted their menu as you see today. It's totally different from original one. This may be a negative spiral to closing. In Clarke Quay, it's common to close in a few years.

Food review aw. Just went to Yakiniku Like base on your review video. Pretty good food i must say, despite the long 1 hour queue
lol funny when you said the tomatoes are a dish for uncles. Meanwhile you call yourself Oji-san xD Sounds bout right
A young person eats tomato with dressing and sauce as a salad dish.
A Japanese uncle eats vegetables only with salt.
In other words, “Hiyashi Tomato” which eats only with salt is uncle's pronoun.
The thought ridiculed at a Japanese Izakaya(pub).

大阪の調理師短大時代に、たこ焼きだけ屋台で食べたが、お好み焼きと串カツはないね。上京してるが、近くの「串カツ田中」は行ってないね。

If you like super spicy powder, try "bon chilli" or "bon cabe". it's sold in small bottle like shichimi togarashi. You can find it in waroeng indo in Lucky Plaza lvl 3, the store is quite hidden at the back. And thank you for the video, now I understand what that cabbage is for.. >.

If you ever have the chance to eat at Nanbantei (67335666 for reservations) at Far East Plaza, top floor (4th, I believe), they have kushiyaki (?). Let us know if you think their food is authentic. And they probably won't sponsor your meal. They are very popular. If I can, I'd go there during weekdays to avoid the crowds. Then again with the Covid19 situation, they may be less crowded now. They have other branches, but I still like the Far East Plaza outlet, though I am less familiar with the new staff, and I think service standards have fallen a little. I prefer the place at dinner. Lunch during the week seems a little rushed. Dinner always seems a little more relaxed.
Another restaurant I like is Akanoya (67321866) which is a traditional (?) robatayaki restaurant. I like the ambience, but prices are quite prohibitive. Probably because they only open for dinner. They are at Orchard Parade Hotel. At around 8.00 pm or some time after, the staff will have a "clapping ceremony" (?) to thank the guests for their patronage. I brought my sister in law there on a birthday. She doesn't speak Japanese. So I told her they were clapping for her birthday. It has had some bad reviews (which I think may be dishonest sabotage) but I like the food and the ambience. But I can't afford to go there regularly. I miss that place.

Why do you keep saying that locals don't drink? plenty of singaporeans love to drink, however the prices prevent drinking from being too frequent. However, if you pay attention, lots of locals can be seen drinking, especially wherever good happy hour or freeflow promotions are found. also, home/coffeeshop drinking is generally cheaper and these drinkers are invisible to you as a result.

@@soshification i completely agree. but the statement that "Singaporeans don't drink in general" is simply untrue and thus i felt the need to point that out. Nonetheless, great video and delicious looking food/drink at Kushikatsu Tanaka and this video is making me very hungry

I think he meant "doesn't drink here" as in Clarke Quay? But the man seems more heartlander than clubber, thus seen less locals drinking bah? You see unlike most foreigners in Singapore, he seems to enjoy hawker food more than restaurants. Also, if compared to Japanese, I believe the % of drinkers are definitely higher in Japan, thus maybe that's why the comment we locals seem to drink less...
