That’s a lovely painting and a great comparison. I’ve been wondering about the difference as I’d been using satin varnish. I was afraid the high gloss might be too shiny but it certainly Lu does wake up the colors even more.
I love the high gloss finish. The only problem is when you photograph high gloss, there's a lot of glare, or if it's hung near a lamp or bulb, there's a glare which hides the painting. I just read that you can mix satin varnish with high gloss varnish to get a result that's in between. Have you ever tried that?
Question, I already put a satien varinish on my painting, I like the more glassy look of the high gloss varinish. Would I ruin my painting if I put a high gloss over the satien varinish?
Hi.. I varnished one of my acrylic painting with W and N satin varnish but i am not satisfied with the result, can i apply liquitex gloss varnish over the top of that?
@@CarrieMilburn Thank you so much for letting me know. Just in case I'll varnish in the garage, but this is great information. Have a blessed day. All the best.
Hi! Question about liquid varnishing, do you need to varnish in a highly vented area like you would with the liquitex spray varnish or is it okay to complete this step inside?
I used krylon matte sealer on my acrylic painting and it left a dusty white layer to it could I use this liquitex to get a glossier look over the matte
I just started painting...have already sold a piece...I'm really new at this...it looks to me that gloss makes the colours pop a lot more. Is gloss the way to go?
Yes, it does make the colors pop! I find gloss is great for certain pieces, especially colorful ones. I generally use gloss or satin, depending on the project.
Thanks for the video! I’ve been on and off about whether to get the satin or gloss finish for my painting, and you really helped! 💖

corm1000 I have that same question
No! This is exactly what I am doing in this video!
Great video? Really helpful!
Do you know if you can put a Satin varnish over a High Gloss varnish? I used high gloss and its way tooo shiny. Thanks
Yes, but it's a bit harder to reduce the sheen than it is to add it.

Did you find out? because I literally just asked the same question.
I don't see why not!
Nice, however, nobody on these videos talks about whether varnishing is Toxic and should be done in a ventilated room...so should it be? thanks
I've had no problems with varnishing indoors. It has no smell...or very little.

I love that painting! It seems to me, however, that the high sheen detracts from the art.
Thanks for the video! (:

It is safe to use indoors. :)

A spray sealer? I haven't had much success with using Liquitex varnish over a spray varnish.
