So... There are a lot of keyboards out there. A lot of UA-camrs covering these keyboards too... but what happens if a UA-cam designs a keyboard? Magic or Tragic? HAHA... Well... the UA-cam in question is Lewis Toh... he knows a thing or two about budget boards. So he decided to design his own, with the help of Aeris Studios... They named it the Killer65... to Kill other keyboards. But is it good? Let's find out!

Nah, I pass. The cheap Mario Bros wallet I got like 7 or so years ago can still hold abuse :v
Thanks for the review man, really appreciate the "keybored" insight!
It was such a straight forward keyboard to build! Really good for someone starting out in the hobby!
I would definitely keep the rgb
Get in there Lewis!
Lewis, how long would the GB wait be?
The best review you could ever have. The grandmaster!
Shout out to Lewis to be straight enough to have someone else review his board.
Still, Anti-flexcut gang, probably need to tape up those flex cuts again.
Definitely interesting that with the PE that it really isn't that marbly.
Check out the Thera 75 video on sealing up the cuts!
Keybored mentions that the case sound isn't as prominent as the other parts of this keyboard and I agree. The KTT monos are full PC and contribute significantly to that hollow, plastic crinkling sound. I've heard the same from these switches on other videos with diff. boards. The sound profile changes between the three typing tests Lewis has available and, depending on your def. of marbly, you might be interested to hear those and see if they're more in line with what you're looking for. I'm not arguing your opinion because I agree, just throwing this out there in case you were considering buying and it might help. lol
Love the aesthetics, but can't say I'm a big fan of the sound profile. I wonder about the switch choice though - guessing a nice long-pole linear might give it a little more pop than those "violently" tactile switches. Overall, quite interesting...can't wait to see more of it closer to GB time hopefully
Haha, yeah, I should try this out with a long pole linear. The KTT Monochrome are very interesting...
Another one to add to the budget custom 65s! Can’t wait to hopefully order mine!
Really glad to see tactile switches this time. I feel like there aren't enough tactile switches used in builds/keyboard review videos.
This board looks really interesting, the appearance is really cool! Great review as always Scott. (a youtuber keyhoarder) lmao
Hahha... not sure why I kept getting hung up on that word... took like 4 tries
It looks really crisp from the top, but as with many boards these days I'm not crazy about that engraving on the bottom
having rgb and hostswap on flex strips is very impressive pcb design, kudos to whoever did that.
It was nice to see minimal flex cuts in the plate, disappointed to see the amount of flex cuts in the pcb, and even more disappointment to hear even more flex cuts are coming. Generally I'd say going live with the group buy before even solidifying the PCB layout is a huge red flag for a cash grab. The gasket system was also never shown in the ICs posts, which makes sense when finding out they're the KBD67 Lite-style pseudo-gaskets. These show up pretty clear in the thin sound profile.
Looks cool, and I think there's a market for two-toned cases like this, but seems like a miss with the QK65, Zoom65, and JRIS65.
the sound is higher pitched and clacky but it ain't because of the gaskets, even though this is gasket mount the design of the board is more akin to a parallel sequence or bakeneko, its practically a one piece design with a top finisher so that sound profile makes sense
This is a killer!
Haha for sure!
Really sleek design, I like it! And the customizable case colours too that's really sick! As a cheapo uni student though I might wanna wait to see what comes bundled in with the whole package before I consider buying it lmao, but it's definitely up there
Ive been waiting for a board like this since the jelly epoch. I love the 2 toned frame look
now we wait for a KeyBored75/65
dat thumbnail is top tier
:) THank you! It's a bit different, but I have been working with a graphic designer and he proposed something more provocative
1:03 got me there, lmao. i thought it was the segue to the ad break hahahaha
Hahaha, it does seem like I was going to segue into a sponsorship
Omitting the per key rgb is a huge let down.
:) I think he had to make some sacrifices to keep the pricing where it is
Nice, so the in-video-ad (in a video that’s advertising a product itself) is interrupted by two unskippable UA-cam ads.. thanks for reminding me to never not use an Adblocker..
great vid as usual, just wish we got a linear switch sound test, the tactile switch sound is overpowering imo...
Awesome video! I love these new keyboard coming out with such good prices!
Met up with Lewis last week and got to try the Killer65 in person.
I got to say, it is a steal for the price!
Definitely a steal for this price. Not sure how he's selling it for so cheap... prob not making money
Looks great and sounds pretty good.
Now make a 75% 😁
How would you compare the KTT Monochrome to say, Boba U4Ts or Durock Sunflowers?
Good thing this review is not biased!
I tried my best to be as objective!
Nice board during the sponsored segment xD
Great review too!
Hahaha I guess how I edited it makes it seem like the entire thing was a sponsor spot lol
It just caught my attention Scott. I like the sound of the keyboard before the Sponsor segment. What kind of board it is? What switch did you choose? And how did you make that kind of build? When first heard it. My mouth is melting.. 😊. Thanks Scott
Is called the loki65, he made a video on it, but I believe gb is over unfortunately.
@@blayses3116 oh the loki, ah i see.. thanks man appreciated. I guess i have no luck. Hahaha
@@makata_pro1698 you could keep an eye out for extras 👀
Though I enjoy this layout the most, there are so many budget 65s around, we need more tkls!
ridge wallet is like ducky one 2 mini, while regular wallets are like custom boards
*Disclaimer: we know content creators have to eat
Worse even. At least even the crappiest wallet can do the job of holding business CASH, cards, trash, etc. a ridge wallet can hold cards & pretends to be able to hold cash (doesn’t count if it’s on the outside)
3:30 Hot take; RGB has no right to exist inside a keyboard that is not specifically marketed for gaming.
Standard here should be plain white LEDs.
Keybored keyboard should be a keyboard by keybored who's key design is to make keyboard not boring as a key part of you board of ideas.
:) Good one!
Those switches sound like the building sound fx for lego games 😂
Always love you reviews 🙏
Thank you so much!
Perhaps Lewis killed squashy LMAO
I would definately consider buying this. It's sick. Too bad I wasn't aware of this before Zoom TKL Group Buy
nice intro, u look better. keep your health!
Thank you! I need to do more to take care of myself
Didn't have to roast me like that in the sponsor😢
well now I will start introducing myself as a keyboarder
Can't say it kills any of the qwertykeys boards
does it fit other pcb options?
Lewis Toh is the new king
now we need a better design from Scott😂
One day!
I would kill... to get this board
Then you'd be a killer haha
@@Keyboredgood one
and those tactiles are abit scratchy tho
ngl this looks awesome, specially with this weight! Great job!
Awesome wallet and KeyCase 💯
Is there ANY possible way go add a battery to this to make it wireless??? I only use wireless boards and i loveeee this one. I passed up on the zoom65 to get my family christmas presents 😫😫😫
what are scratchy switches
If you ever made a keyboard it would be cool if it looked plain but had a bunch of engineering behind the sound
if Scott doesn't release a gummy o ring board we riot!
Will you do doing a personal tierlist of the keebs you got this year sir?
damn the pvd weight
Look like a beefier varmilo minilo! Don't get me wrong I love my minilo! It's my to go keyboard! I will be looking for this keyboard, since my wife will keep the minilo, please add paypal option to make complete the order!!
:) It's definitely beefy!
paypal has been added! there were many others who requested for it too!👍
are you planning on checking out the Akko Mod007pc? it's only 100 dollars fully built but it sounds and feels phenomenal -- way better than any other akko board or any board at the price range
Unfortunately I will no longer work with Akko. I don't agree with their practices
would have loved to see you try it with linears, great vid tho as always 👍
:) I'll try that when I rebuild this thing!
so basically this is a (heavily) upgraded gas67
@Keybored Can i get a link for the the adhesive foam you sometimes use? I tried looking for it, but I dont think i've found the right size
Hi comparing this to the killer65 , Any major differences?
dawg why is the 65% layout without a blocker so rare?
hi, how would you compare this to the qk65? Great video btw!!!
aesthetics are great but the sound is a bit thin. I wonder how itd sound with a regular 1.6mm no flex cut pcb (i dont care about flex)
When you have a prelubed switch do you lube over it or clean it first. If so how do you remove the preapplied lube.
as long as it's not caked on, I don't remove it. Sometimes it is, and I use a brush to collect, and a paper towel to wipe off the brush.
Wowzers, absolutely flabbergasting.
It's a Killer!
i wonder if you put tape just on the pcb flex will make it sounds more full i guess haha
It sure would! I did a video on how to improve sounds of flex cuts. UHMWPE Tape!
@@Keybored yup already watched that video before and thats what i instantly thinking when i see the pcb flex cut on this board haha
The cleaver's about to kill some wallets--
Great video as always... Also hopefully one day you will and can do the same thing... Keybored keyboard XD
Haha one day! I have been so swamped and haven't been able to get out of my usual stuff
thin and hollow
The thumbnail is 2 scary 4 me
Haha, I don't disagree!
I almost bought the iskar by bitmap but this killed it... get it lol
Its really a nice looking keyboard
Awwww, I wish they kept the rgb
All the ICP fans have to own this keyboard NOW
you are totally a youtube keyboarder, scott k
Keybored Keyboard next!
Keybored Keyboard! I did tell Lewis... it's so much easier criticizing other people stuff Vs. building my own haha
Sorry serious question! The DCX WoB is $99 and GMK WoB is $110. Surely when you say a fraction of the price you don't mean 90% right? Am I missing something here?
Most gmk sets aren’t in stock. They normally are purchased via group buy or after market. After market gmk sets cost much more than their original price and group buys take a long time for you to get the actual product. Dcx however is in stock for $90 and it’s quality is basically on par with gmk.
What a killer!
Definitely a Killer! LOL Lots of "Killer" being thrown around. I'm sure Lewis planned this all along
@@Keybored Haha definitely! I was about to change it to "What a Killer65!" which I don't even know the meaning of.
logo kinda not my style. but pretty cool top case look
It's a clean board!
At this pricepoint just get a Tiger 80
My favourite UA-cam keyboarder
I know... Not sure why I couldn't say it
lewis toh keyboard
Haha definitely
dcx a fraction of the price of gmk?? huhh dcx is $99-$140 which is the exact same as gmk
Hmm looks like the pricing has gone up a bit got DCX since launch. So $99 vs $110 about 89% of Gmk
NO EXPLODED KEYS !
Nope, this one is compact
Not a TKL. That design lost.
This is not budget
mas maganda pa rakk actually
No RGB, No sale. Bad choice. If you don't like RGB, turn it off. Wow what a thought. Try turning something on that's not there though; see first sentence.
Group buy?.....ergh. I thought we were done with this crap
where is aeris studio located?
Hmm... I'm not quite sure haha
I guess you can say this board is a killing deal. I did it right right?
:) sure thing!
bored design
It's clean :)
@@Keybored yes. every keyboards should be clean. need something unique on keyboard design.
like sela70 maybe...
Goddamnit. Just missed another GB by like this 🤏 much. Unbelievable.
What keyboard do you use daily? I'm trying to upgrade from a KBD67 Lite but most keyboards don't seem worth it...
Lol this made the Iskar immediately irrelevant XD
endgame wallet doesnt exist, dont chase it
That's the greatest sponsor spot I've ever seen.
It is written for the community..
:)
ayy congrats on 100k🎉
hi
Hello! Welcome!
Hey Scott. Just wanted to ask what material you reccomend the most to fill a keyboard.
Doing my first custom with the RK84 and wanted to know if you suggest Plastilina, Polyfill, Silicone Pour or Kilmat the most.
The bottom is oddly shaped but I should be able to make any of these work.
Thanks in advance. :)
For a plastic bottom board, I would use plastilina or silicone fill
Yo dude, from my own experience with a similar board to the RK84, I would recommend using just polyfill for that thock. If you feel like it's still a bit too hollow or not as "solid" as you would like, then I would recommend you either use silicon, or filling the case with pennies to increase its density and tape it up. Hope this helps.
its not super hollow so polyfill should be good enough, silicone makes it a bit muted for my taste
