Sound travels better off of and through most liquids. Kinda cool fact: one of the chemicals used to make aerogel, tetramethyl orthosilicate, is basically pure sand but in liquid form. It reacts with water to turn into its solid form, and becomes super super fine, but is insanely dangerous. This is because if you get it in your eyes it reacts with the water in your eyes and turns solid, but does so under the surface of your eyeballs, and causes permanent blindness. Also if you inhale it then it reacts with the water in your lungs, and having sand in your lungs is bad (shocker).

Honest thoughts from someone who isn’t in the keyboard scene and only clicked because I wanted to see something done with aerogel (thanks a LOT) here’s what I thought of each noise.
No foam- my favorite of the bunch.
Foam- sounds exactly the same as no foam but like the audio was pitched up. Deeper sounded better.
Aerogel- sounded akin to our crazy neighbor Caryn from Las Vegas who would tap her acrylic fingernails really fast on our ceramic counter when she got really into talking very loudly about something that made her anxious. A bit too solid sounding and gave me shivers in a bad way. (Does this count as childhood trauma?)
My iPhone keyboard clicks through my headphones as I type this message that will get me hate probably- 10/10 😂
BUT- whoever this guy is, I like listening to him and his humor more than I like listening to the keyboards. My computer is a 2001 dell with a 20 year old crayola keyboard so maybe I’m biased to the nostalgic plasticky tapping sound.

I like metallic sounds so no foam sounds pretty good to me, but aerogel is just clearly the best for thock

For burger mount you're supposed to put o-rings both sides of the screw so that the plate doesn't touch either the screw heads nor the case metal.

You have me wanting to mod my keyboard but I'm not sure what I'd do to it. Making it a bit louder and clickier without increasing the amount of force or actuation distance or something maybe, but that's probably just a matter of finding the right switches(currently Gateron Brown tactile switches for a mix of gaming, academic, and software development workloads). Hot swappable, so that mod would be pretty easy.
I probably spent a fair bit more than I had to for what I got, but whatever, still the best keyboard I've ever used(NZXT Function Full size).
