Hey all! Had an eventful week - fulfilled a dream of mine, but also just been busier than ever - so i am not sure this is the best video i could have made around the ending of this pre-cbs journey… but i guess that is all part of what I do on this channel - the honest, unfiltered truth of whatever situation. Hope you enjoy! Cheers

One of my very favorite channels to watch on UA-cam. Thank you so much for sharing all of this! It has been very entertaining and I really enjoy the way you've displayed your thoughts and motivations. I feel so happy that you've found THE Strat for you. I really look forward to seeing this beauty in future videos. Cheers, James!

I subscribed, not because of the giveaway, I really like the way you articulate the tones you're experiencing with the individual guitars verses the sound you have in your head.
      Great Content, Thank You

    Hey James
I’m a pro session guy and have been following the channel for a good while…. As the proud owner of several vintage fenders I can tell that That Strat is magical…. But more importantly you’re playing has also developed so well in the last few months…. You can really tell these instruments are inspiring you to play and find your own voice….. bravo my friend, bravo

Whats magical about a strat. Is its setup, in relation to it being original and unmodified and un-pulled apart! A bad set-up guitar will never sparkle in your hands.

So stoked for you and your journey. Keep doing you man. I remember I originally asked you how you can afford all this gear about a year ago when I first found your channel. I have watched along your content and quickly realized your just a humble genuine dude who shares the same interest and love for guitars and gear as I do. I love your channel and wish you all the best moving forward. Don't let trolls on the internet bother you or distract your goals. I'm a fan and appreciate all you've shared with us thus far. Best wishes 🙏

A beautifully thought out and put together series, very well done!
I had to sell my 63 re-fin Strat about 20 years ago when times got really difficult. I knew then that I would regret it, but not how much it would hurt. I can honestly say that I have regretted it every day since it went!
Please don't be upset by the insensitive and hurtful comments made by some really sad individuals who exist to such the joy out of the lives of others.
It is the first time that I have seen you on UA-cam, but it won't be the last!
Please keep up the good work.

Back in the early '70s, I worked for my older brother in his guitar shop in Tallahassee. He was always very generous to me and one Christmas, gave me a Junior just like this one. Well, we had a customer who needed repair on his guitar and so my brother asked me if he could use that Junior. I of course, said "yes." Then several weeks later, the guy brings the Junior back with a BAD buckle rash on a guitar that was otherwise pristine. Now back then, beat up guitars were not cool, and I have always taken very good care of my axes, moving my belt buckle to the side to keep from destroying the backs. Boy was I furious when I saw that rash!! Gave the guitar back to my brother. Now I wish I had it! But I've wished that for many years! By the way, my very first guitar was a 1954 Stratocaster my dad sacrificed to buy for me, Christmas of 1963; and my second, was a 1964 I bought in 1965. Kingtone make FABULOUS pedals!!

What a journey these three videos have been, James. Glad you invited us along for the ride! :-) It's great to see you not only get the Strat you really wanted, but finding the Junior as well was icing on the cake. Both are very fine instruments. I applaud your comments on mental health. I appreciate that it's not what this channel is about and your reluctance to bring it up is understandable. However, ignorant comments do sometimes need challenging. It's not acceptable for people who only know you through your gear reviews on UA-cam to assume they actually know you, your life experiences and the challenges you have faced. People like that clearly don't have enough cr*p in their lives. If you can afford the gear you buy, if it brings you happiness, then good on you. Let's face it, the wonderful kit you own enhances your channel and we, in turn, benefit from that. Keep up the great work mate.

Its great to just listen to you talk about gear and guitars which are aspirational for 99% of people. Congratulations on the strat and fulfilling that dream! Also, that LP junior is wonderful and sounds immense with your playing (though most guitars do and that gold SG has not escaped my mind since your videos on it!) - also great message at the end. I would rather people (providing they are living within their means - and again that only applies to friends/people I know if I see that and they need my help or vice versa, not a UA-cam thing!) love and enjoy their guitars, enhance their life and have fun and celebrating their victories is a joy - especially when it means I get guitar tones in my ears to brighten my day and inspire too!

Listening back again I think you made the right choice. I watched all 3 video's and think the strat you chose is beautiful sounding and sounds as good or better than the blue one without any issues. Sounded way better with more volume on the amp like you knew it would. Love the look and I too prefer the early 60's rosewood board strats. As far as the mental health comments the guy made they are just envious and that is their rude way of dealing with the fact they can't do what you are doing. Hell I find it inspiring. I enjoyed the feeling all over again through your video's of getting a vintage guitar that you bond with etc. There really is something positive about that. I'm about to do it again soon I hope. There is always someone who has to say something to try to bother someone. It's less about you and more about their situation. You handled it well. I'm finding your channel to be one of my favorites and hope you keep the videos coming. Thanks for all you put into to these. Enjoy them very much.

Selfishly, I'm disappointed that this particular journey has ended as I was enjoying it so much! It must be hard to ignore horrible comments, and guess its inevitable that the bigger your channel grows the more you'll encounter them... Stay strong buddy!! Man, I'm so glad you hung on to the Junior. It is glorious! As for the rest of your collection, they are all beautiful guitars and who's business is it to question your decisions and good fortune. None of us know the sacrifices, toil and compromises you've had to make to be in the position you are. Most of us are not so fortunate, but so what? There are always detractors and trolls and just bitter people. THEY are the one's with the issues.

I've got some really great guitars I love but nothing in this price range. Your videos have prompted some thinking (saying this particularly as a fellow strat player) about what I'd do in your shoes... Personally I suspect I'm more into the Masterbuilts than vintage, and also hearing the Ron Thorn I realise I may have space for a 50s voiced strat (hitherto I'm more into the mid and late 60s era sound).
Thanks for sparking curiosity and entertaining me. Looking forward to what you do next.

Don’t normally comment on any UA-cam videos but wanted to say LOVED the ups and downs that this journey into buying a vintage guitar came with and am grateful for you sharing it. Also, I’m in full support of any person who is buying such insanely cool gear. Hope you love your 56’ Les Paul Junior and 63’ Strat! Clearly we’ll deserved dude. I’m off to go and find me a Fender Vibrolux 😂🤙🏼

Sorry you have to deal with negative people like that. As for this journey, I have personally really enjoyed following along and hearing about your thought process! I found myself checking UA-cam every morning to see if the next part had come out yet haha. You ended up with an absolutely beautiful guitar and I’m so happy for you that you found what you were looking for! ✌️

Congrats, this Strat & Junior look and sound ACE! They really come alive with the amp turned up, so much more definition than in the store at low volume.
Can´t believe those haters write such bullsh*t, they must have serious problems. Keep on going James love your channel, would love to hear the two rock and the bartel with your new killer guitars :)

Just discovered your channel today and watched the journey. I was quite invested by the end, I’m glad it worked out. Great videos, they look and sound really good. Buying guitars is a pretty inexpensive luxury compared to some and bring much joy.

Congratulations for your choice after a careful decision making! I've been through similar situations and although the process of deciding is obviously different for every person hopefully we all end up with the right guitar, for whatever reasons it might be the one. Of course, I also just love the distinctive sunburst on this particular Stratocaster, and now I'm going to include it to the list of features for my next one ;-)

I've mostly bought high quality guitars even while knowing less expensive guitars would get me there. For me, it motivates me to play them, to adore them (stop for a moment and admire the wear or the look of the fretboard). The few extra thousands that adds up to is worth it to me to get what I really want. My guitars are well taken care, even as two of the four are FCS relics (one a Masterbuilt). My three amp heads and cabs have covers and are clean despite being gigged a lot. And if my thrill over my gear dims, I can always sell them for decent money.
So about you buying that 63, good for you. Seems that one really spoke to you. And if you settled for something that did not quite inspire you, you would regret it down the road.
