If you are feeding dried foods, or other processed commercial foods, you may want to research what goes into them. Use "Animal derivatives" as a search term.
We do not use any processed foods and we know exactly what is in our home made dog food. In addition to these supplements, our dogs are fed on raw green tripe, some red meat, generally ox heart diced, a small amount of raw oats, occasionally grated raw carrot or celery and we used to supplement with tinned sardines in oil. But having read about carcinogens from heating vegetable oils, we decided to make our own after watching people living near the Arctic feed their dogs on Fish broth stew, using dried or frozen salmon. What was surprising was the ripe old ages sled dogs were clocking up on this healthy diet.
So we have decided to use this recipe of boiled sprats, sardines or mackerel to produce a protein rich soup / broth which is absorbed by pasta and rice to make a firm feed. It is frozen in bags once cooled down and fed as a breakfast or main meal supplement. 20 litres cost £3.00 as opposed to £14.04 for equivalent of at least 50 cans of sardines. But this recipe goes further, because it is very satisfying and wolfed down. See also Bone Broth Recipe: • Homemade Dog Food Supl... - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини
i was using this recipe early of 2000's with excellent results! we only change was the tomatoes to carrots, this was so good that my husky live for 16yr feeding with this. always his skin was healthy full of fur and never get sick
I can only imagine the smell, but then again, our friends know that the stinkier the better. This is obviously better than any commercial dog/ cat "food". Great video, take care.
Awww you're such a sweet old man ❤❤ I wanna hug you 🤗 stay safe
Thank you ,Great video,I am also impressed with your dishwashing technique .
Hahaha
Love it! Going to try in my instant pot
definitely in need of a special dishwasher like this...
Energy efficient!, A++++ dishwasher. XD
Love the special dishwasher 😂😂❤❤
Hey I'm from England aswell! (In liverpool) and I've been wondering where to get raw sardines from for my 2 dogs on raw diet :D. Thanks so much! I think I'm going to go Sainsbury's now haha! Thanks a million!
thanks a lot.
Very good recipe. If i were a dog i would probably would like it too lol
Good boy 😁
This fish meal is used as a breakfast and is one small portion per dog.
Not their main diet. The amount of rice / pasta is miniscule and it has
definitely aided the recovery of our old girl, who was losing weight
rapidly. Now at 12 1/2 yrs she has recovered
her lost weight and has loads of energy again. We alternate between
bone broth and fish broth to maintain their health and shiny coats
instead of feeding tinned sardines cooked in oil. Rice, pasta,
marrowbone jelly, and fish all find their way into processed dog foods,
particularly in dried foods, along with who knows what else. Adding this
fish supplement to a mainly raw tripe and red meat based diet provides
high quality protein, omega fatty acids and the pasta and rice provide
instant energy, which we have seen at first hand in Ruby.
Pasta and rice, but fed in moderation, also has benefits.
Hi, is this all they get in the morning? Then a regular meal in the evening? Or do they get the fish porridge, then a regular morning meal, then a regular evening meal? Thank you.
Excellent for humans, cats and dogs. 😀
I used different fish but it turned out the same thank you soo much my puppies loved it!! My one is allergic to chicken I was able to make 10 bags for her. I’m added rice and veggies. I think having this on a a week with her other food is going to be wonderful for her and very rewarding for me
Great to hear Jasmine, thanks for posting your comment
Hi,what type of fish do you use?
Is crucian fish good for this recipe?
Hi! Please tell me, can I do this but with other types of fish?
Crucian for example.
That looks amazing......Interested you say this is a supplement....Do you feel it could be a normal diet for your dogs? I'm battling a food or protein allergy with my Staffie. Fish is expensive here and I live on the Pacific ocean for petes pepper.....But can get frozen herring, mackerel etc from the Chinese supermarket. This looks like just what I need....
Hi! Thanks for this :) what’s the portion of apple cider vinegar to the water thx!!
That is a great meal I am not going to buy chow any more wish I had found this video sooner
Do you descale the fish?
Great video , have you thought of giving the dog Brown rice and Brown Pasta? i think they may be better :) but may cost more expensive .
Why not put in extra veggies, eggs, carrots, etc. for full nutritional value and getting the most for each feeding? I'm not criticizing but perhaps yams, pumpkin, etc can be added to that stew.
I know you love your dogs and that's why I am asking you to google about the grain free diet for your dog
Would you mind sharing your Apple Cider Vinegar recipe, please? Thank you.
What about the sardine bones???
Are those raw or cooked?
I throw everything in a rice cooker =) less effort and faster cooking without the need to standby to stir and monitor.
Any spices or salt added
That's an interesting idea. I can imagine adding turmeric would impart beneficial properties, as would vegetables. Thanks
Please don't add salt to any of your dogs food!!
72 breakfast servings Cost £3 instead of 50 tins or more of sardines in oil or tomato @ 0.39 costs: £19.50
We have spacial dish wash 😂😂🤣🤣🤣
excuse my ignorance but do you cook them whole with the bones and everything? I bought a kilo of local frozen sardines and not sure if I need to fillet them because of the whole cooked bone thing. Does anyone know?!
Yes with the bones.
fish bones are small and fragile enough that they will largely dissolve, not so with chicken/beef/lamb bones etc.
Dogs love to eat chunky bits of fish- just like they eat chicken. I sauté the sardines with chopped carrots and beans, in my Philips multi cooker. with a 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric and Curry powder. Add brown rice and cook for ten minutes in Pressure cook mode. basically like a risotto. Bones and everything gets very soft and thy eat it all.
Cooked bones should never be fed to dogs.
@@namangandhi1829that’s a wives tale, what do dogs do after they kill a chicken ? The bury it what does that do ? Cooks the bones then they come back and eat it, unless you got a non dog dog
May I confirm if dogs can eat cooked sardine bones? I was informed that cooked bones are dangerous for dogs and only raw bones are safe for them? 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Anyone gut the fish for your dog?
I've had our 4yr old American Bulldog on a fish diet for the past 3yrs due to her skin sensitivities....grain free...so the rice I can't. Isn't the pasta just a filler?
Pretty much, same as it is for us. Could always substitute with vegetables or potatoes to avoid the grain issues.
Hello. Did you keep on the heads and tails of the sardines?
Yes :)
how long the dog food last?
Once frozen in polythene bags, it will last indefinitely. Some frozen turkeys for example are many years old and still taste good.
why are you adding vinegar?
Because the vinegar will add acid to the composition which will help extract the healthy things from the fish and transfer them into the water.
i ate this in jail once...
Dogs do not need carbs
Sir app ki phone nomber
Do dogs go and cook pasta and rice in nature and eat it? NO . Sardines are perfect but please don’t feed your poor pets these hard to digest grains!!! Please don’t!!
Humans did not eat grain in nature either.
Do you think humans would cook pasta and rice if they were in the wild??? Dogs have always been domesticated for centuries now. Every meal needs to have a balnce of everything including carbs. Theres a limit to every food. In the olden days, we fed our dogs rice and meat. They lived a good 16+ years without any visits to the vet. These days with all your grain free crap and kibble crap, dogs are so unhealthy.
There was also no such thing of supplements back then. We even gave them raw milk. Their bones were super strong. Even at 16, 17 years, they had no leg problems or any bone problems. These generations have ruined dogs lives.
@@asht7899 "We fed our dogs rice and meat". It's been two years now, but were you smoking the crack?
Dogs need meat ,bones and organs.
