I'm a beginner and this is my first rodeo. I have all 5 coral mentioned here and they have been growing substantially in my tank for the last 2 years since the tank cycled. They give me Confidence to keep other SPS corals .
All my SPS dies after 3 months I stay away from them now haha. I use tier 5 lights, dosers to keep levels stable. I also have plenty of flow for them too. Maybe if I didn't have a nano I could keep them.
I tried a stylophora once. It did very well and grew dramatically in its first few months in the tank. But i missed one water change and my phosphate levels went up briefly and they died despite my swift reaction in changing 20% of my water. Sps are easy if you can keep your phosphates at 0.4 or lower. I highly recommend having gfo reactors or using some form of phosguard, especially if you have a hefty stock of fish in your ecosystem.
I just ventured into SPS and I have a few on you list. Hopefully I can keep them alive. I plan on driving from west Texas to Florida for vacation. I am planning a visit to your shop sometime that week. Can’t wait.
Hi, thanks for the terrific videos. I have a 20 gallon cube that has been up and running for 13 months now. I run my tank to the recommends of BRS. it is a mixed reef with decent lighting an A360X and resonable flow. In Oct 21 I added a Green slimer and a Forest fire. The Forest fire is basing out nicely but the Green slimer has done absolutely nothing with respect to growth. The colour is lovely and the polyps look good. Both of these corals are at the same level in the tank. I am not sure if my slimer likes or dislikes its current location. These are my first SPS.
I’m patiently waiting for my tank to get out of the ugly phase before ordering corals! First diatoms, then Dino’s, now green hair…hopefully will be on the other side soon!
Make sure you add some inverts to the order, that’ll definitely help keep the tank clean :) whenever you’re ready, let us know and we will be more than happy to assist you and answer any questions you might have :)
In my 25 gallon I currently have 2 blue legged hermits, 2 nassarius snails, a cleaner shrimp and a Tailspot blenny who pecks away at the algae. What additions would you recommend to my clean up crew to help with GHA?
@@ManiacalMangoes try to remove as much as you can manually. Make sure you do water changes to siphon out any algae floating around and to clean the sand bed. The blue leg hermits should take care of the rest! Place them right on top of the left over hair algae :)
Hello, newbie question :) I wanna make my 1st Salwater tank, i got a 60x30x35 aquarium , about the light "OR3 60 blue plus" its good for start? Easy corals only :D Thanks
We’re not too familiar with that specific light but it looks like it is used my some reefers :) you shouldn’t have a problem, just make sure you are able to light up most areas of the tank when using light bars like that.
@@lllStreetlll you could do Radions :) they’re really strong lights, we have it on tanks from 10g small to 1500g big! Also controllable through your phone on the Mobius App
I really want to have a salt water tank but don’t have the space for a big tank and wouldn’t really want a sump. I am guessing if I did a tank this way it would have to be a soft coral tank. I have found a couple online that I like. One day if I am lucky it seems.
Sorry my friend but i disagree with that, i have a 20 gallon with a total volume of 16ish gallons and it is stable and thriving. If you maintain the basics it will be stable, salinity, ph, nitrates and phosphates. Also with a tank this small i always recommend weekly wc's and an ato. It can be done for sure but its a laboe of love for sure.
If you test your water parameters weekly and do consistent water changes, you shouldn’t have an issue :) it can be that easy! Check out the Vic’s 3 gallon Pico Tank video. He keeps al types of corals including acros in the tank. No secrets, just water changes.

I have a ton of lps and softies. All the corals I have lost were all SPS. I have lost a few zoanthids from crabs. I had the green slime, blue slimer, monitpora, and the valida acropora all die on me as well. I did not get any of the others.

Awesome! Hope they all grow out nice and fast for you! Double check with nutrients, sometimes if it’s too low, they will not grow as fast.
Contraband grafted digitata!!!!😍 ohh myy im in love!

Great advice from the pros, thank you.

For the Birds nest coral. you say it doesn't need high light. top of my tank is around 170 par, would this be acceptable?
That would be a safe range.

You could do a small “all in one” tank :) that would probably work best for you!
are bird nest corals aggressive
Is that ReefBum voice ?
Nope.. that's Chris Turnier
I can’t keep any of these I gave up! 15 gallons is extremely difficult to keep stable 😢.

You really need to stop using term "beginner coral". There's no such thing.
