My family's first introduction to 3d printing was on this printer's little brother, the Flashforge Finder. The kids and I purchased it for my wife back in 2018 as a Christmas present. No heated bed and a small build volume but it printed a nice benchy right out of the box. Like Daniel's friend's experience with the Adventurer, it was a good introduction to 3d printing. My wife still uses that little printer all the time. She prints lots of things for her classroom and her robotics teams and it never fails. I haven't upgraded anything or repaired anything and haven't leveled the bed in 3 yrs. Then there's my three Creality printers... lol.
Agree, it's not bad to start with. Basically tinkering free although there is actually quite a bit of mods on Thingiverse but I think then I would rather buy an Ender 3
@@Crosslink3D I used your PrusaSlicer configuration file and the hot bed has no temperature
You are a liar.
The flex bed will move a little in the X and Y axis I have found with mine unless you add a bit of flat plastic at the back of the build plate to stop the Y axis movement and the same for the X axis.
Maybe that's the problem he had with the overprint?
@@xtocy96 Yes I think that is what's happing, I was seeing this in my printing and when I checked the build plate, it will move a small amount in the X and Y direction unless you use some thin plastic as a spacer for the gaps to eliminate the movement.
I’ve been using my adventurer 3 for maybe 3 years now. It’s great! For me anyways. I’ve upgraded the build plate and nozzle over the years. And yes for filament you definitely need to retrofit some way to attach regular rolls.
It’ll even print TPU which has been impressive. It’s got to print a bit slower but it’s printed some pretty complex shapes with no issues. I’ll definitely upgrade eventually but the adventure 3 hasn’t given me much reason to.
Which slicer and slice settings do you use, for printing ABS?
Just picked this up for $150 used in what looks like immaculate condition. Hope it was a good buy
Was it?
I really like this 3D printer. My main complain is the fact that I cannot find spools of material that I can load inside the printer. Everything is too big!
Are you aware of anyone selling the correct size? I noticed you had a spool holder outside of the machine. Honestly, I wouldn't purchase it again for that reason.
Mine will be here tomorrow. Had to send ender 3 back because the z axis screw was binding badly and was pretty pissed that I didn't even get it together before I started having serious problems.
I started in 2017 with an Ender 1 (yes one !) while the Ender 3 is a much different and more capable printer than this. I tuned and adjustet it so well that it was better than an ender 3 out of the box. But since 2019 i am on the Adventurer 3 and got a second Adventurer 3 in 2022... and i'm really happy. while this is not the fastest one on the marked the quality and stability is remarkable so wouldnt say one hast to "upgrade" to an ender 3 or prusa .. If you really dial in the materal the print results from either pruse nor Ender 3 machines ar e any better,. I thing the comperison between a heaviiely tweaked Ender 3 and a stock Adventurer is lacking somehow... If you would compare the other printers to a tweaked and mechanicly well maintaind (wich is kind of hard to do because nothing is acessible easily)Adventuerer 3 you would be suprised how good the quality is.. Even by todays satndarts the Board is very quick and pumping more G Code instructions per minute than any other printer in a remotely similar pricerange(It is in fact AS FAST AS a Prusa MK4 )...Compared to the moderate movment and print speeds means taht the Board is never o Bottleneck . REGARDELESS of how complex a model is... If you have ervery thing right you can even see this in the print geometry .
This was my first printer. My kids (and I) like how easy it is to use.
Yes, as a beginner, I just bought this and I love it.
I am thinking of getting one to start to learn about 3d printing... but unsure... how fast I may or may not out grow it...
This is my first printer and maybe I’ll upgrade one day. I got it second hand for only $200. I don’t get much layer shift but bed levelling can be a pain sometimes.
It's not flawless but I still think it's a good value for beginners. There is cheaper printers out there but they also have a lot of issues. Never had any problems with this one and my friends also not for the last two years.
I just got one for $150 mint condition!!!!!!
@@hollisbabybeats nice! I recommend also buying some spare parts like a boden tube coupling and a replacement gear for the extruder. Buy them now and it will save time later (in my experience) but so far it’s been fantastic print quality!
@@Heneling coming from the ender 3 S1, I am so happy I don’t have to constantly level the bed and set z offset
@@hollisbabybeats if you don’t like bed levelling then level it once and try not to turn it off.
I got mine recently but I don’t know how connect it to my computer or what program to use
its basically my crude abs functional part printer. the main reason i expanded to other printer is because of the ad3 nozzles.
Agreed. Now with a k1 max and bambu P1S this will be just used for ABS
Nice review, thanks! Newbie interested in starting....Where does one get files to print. What are the extensions (name) of print files?
I usually get .stl files from places like thingiverse
What is the software I have to download on my computer for my FlashForge Adventurer 3? This is for the 2023 version on Windows 11.
Would you still recommend the Flashforge 4? I’m thinking of ordering it yet the reviews on it are mostly from 2021 so I wanted to know if any of the issues have been resolved.
If you have that budget range, better get a Bambu Lab X1. Flashforge Adventurer 4 looks overpriced in 2023.
Some how using cura slicer show filament error
dose it print out of the box
hey mate so you reckon the ender 3 is overall better than the adventure 3? ive recently got a keen interest for 3D printing so I want something a little challenging to design
If anything slicers like cura will give you a lot more control and that alone will give you better print on other machines.
Hi, I am looking for my first 3D printer and this looks right for me... However because I have a history of creating my own 3d objects, will this printer allow me to slice and custom create and 3Dprint my own models?
So far mine has done everything well
Looking to get one of these is the bed leveling a troubling issue. I had ender 3 and I run into bed leveling issues
Bed levelling on this thing is proper shit. It's painful and takes a long long time to do. All because of flash forge deciding not to put adjusting screws on the bed which means you have to use the z offset to level. The filament feed has a tendency to knock too, which will be a symptom of poor levelling.
Buy something else, youlll be happier. Even the adventurer 4 is much better.
@@computerizedcat agreed. It's a pain to get a good level. Usually, a raft is needed and even that needs to be stuck down with glue.
Shortened printing speed 8 hours and 42 minutes for a smaller by half an cherry bucket.
atventure 3 is a workhorse over 1000 hours and never broke a thing
And now those are in sale. Plus SAS23 promo gives -10%.
Needs calibration.
0:11 my ears are bleeding
Ender 3 does not work at all man. Adventurer 3 does work.
It's a piece of junk, it was never a good starter printer and yes I have the misfortune of owning the lump of crap.
What were your most painful issues with this printer. let us know!
I received an Ender 3 pro for Christmas and it is so complicated. Would this be a better printer for me to learn on or should I just tough it out with the E3p? I would like to advance but it’s frustrating getting started.
Absolutely love mine had it since 2021. Its been a workhorse of a printer, have yet to have had a failed print.
The i3v2 it replaced however was a right royal pain in the ass.
I bought the adventurer 3 light a couple of months ago, it's great. Just ordered the pro version this week. For me these printers are just the right size. And haven't had any problems.
Got one last year , been using almost at least a few times every month and it's worked great . Plenty of trial and error but it comes with learning the ropes lol and I'm still newbie but love my adventurer 3 ! Now the software seems to be built to make it work better seemingly but I'm switching to cura in the new year
I've been having quite a bit a trouble recently with my adv 3. Would you mind sharing what settings you usually use for pla?
@@A_HollowSoul I still use the flashforge application but typically use 60c for bed , 220c for nozzle with at least a 1mm brim to help adhesion to bed for tricky prints etc but im still super noob . Also I use their PLA
What I like about this printer is that it just works out of the box mostly. Only thing one needs to do is recalibrate the Z axis because it is a little too low. But the small print bed and printing speed is a downside.
Daniel thank you for that and I also want to wish you and your family a merry merry Christmas and a happy new year and again thank you for what you do
Thanks! Same for you!
@@Crosslink3D your welcome.
Got one for christmas this year from my parents.
It's my first 3D printer, and so far I've been having a blast trying to figure out the different settings, fills and shapes and sizes it can do.
It's been running near non-stop since christmas, and so far have had only one model that turned into strings when I wasn't watching.
I would sell it and buy Ender 3 or kobra 2 pro
I got one of these units for free. It works well when it works, but it's temperamental to say the least. Oh and the filament feeder is badly designed. If your filament breaks it will not detect a filament error if the loose end is in the hole, even if it's not actually reaching the feeder gears. So it won't feed any filament, and it also won't stop due to filament error.
most expensive spool holder ever
🤣
I don't have a good computer. Can i run this from my phone?
You could…. But definitely NOT recommended.. 😅
The answer is no. Not at the price point they are still selling it at. Too unreliable. Outdated and firmware and software holds it back.
Yeah, it slowly feels more and more like these are outdated. There is new printers coming from Flashforge that are rather worth the money, watch out for those.
@@Crosslink3D Yes, new firmware is coming, but I don't know if it will affect mine. If not, I will be selling them. Can sell the pair and get a new kp3s v2 with clipper for 300.
No. Flash forge is garbage.
