      I must be getting old because I find current home decor cold & sterile & not at all welcoming. Im not into a ton of wall decor or nic nacs but it seems people have really taken minimalism a bit too literal. I was watching funny baby videos and not one clip had the baby crawling on a rug. It was all hardwood or linoleum. I'm sure it's easier to keep clean, etc but at least a family room with carpeting. I guess to each his own.❤

      Yes, the dimensions make it personable not ostentatious. The design is simple, but geared towards the outside as well as not competing with the people and belongings within. I can't stand the places which look like a museum or have massive entrance halls and stairways; a monument to their egos in order to make more impressive entrances. Taylor had a lot of commonsense and clearly thought of others' comfort not just her own. She had too much faith in Michael Jackson, but she was coming from a good place with that.

    Surprisingly unpretentious and modest, with her personal touch, precious antique and art pieces, treasured memories and very much home, cozy atmosphere. It's not about aesthetic per se - it's about making a house, regardless of it's style and size - a home. One might've expected something way more gaudy, over the top lavish, but it's nothing like that. Very homey, cozy place that speaks about her personality perhaps somewhat unexpected story.

  • @jstokes
    @jstokes Рік тому +133

    "Surprisingly modest" as those who knew her described is is correct; Taylor's home was not "opulent", or "lavish" as described in the video. I am familiar with the house and what it really shows in interior design is the woman herself; you can get an understanding of who she really was by the home: it is absolutely beautiful and charming, but never in a pretentious way. It was meant to be lived in with friends, dogs, and her family.The superb art collection is the legacy of her adored father, who was an art dealer. She loved beauty with soft colors inside, and bright colorful gardens, and it was all very serene, relaxed and joyful. It also is very much like old Beverly Hills, before the marble and gilt took over.Thats where she grew up, and in this home just near Beverly Hills in the hills of Bel Air on a winding road is this very special oasis.

    A fan letter to Elizabeth brought a generous response, which resulted in an ongoing correspondence until shortly before her passing. After first letter, her responses came directly from 700 Nimes Road. When I attempted to call Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation for address to send a memorial contribution the call went directly to a security guard at the residence. He gave me the office address. We had a lengthy conversation about Elizabeth. He choked up obviously feeling a personal appreciation. As Rock Hudson once said, Elizabeth Loves people. To truly understand her passion, see Elizabeth Taylor accepts Jean Herscholt Award. Her famed physical beauty was genuinely exceeded by the Beauty of her heart and soul. I feel deeply honored to have had this privilege of contact with her and some respect having been welcomed into 700 Nimes Road. Unfortunately I understand the house has been demolished with a new Residence taking its place. RIP dearest Dame Elizabeth. Your legacy will never be lost! Although a DAME, Elizabeth will always be QUEEN of the screen, but more importantly, QUEEN 👸 of HEARTS 💕 💜 💖! 🕊 🕊 🕊

    It leaves a beautiful reminder of a beautiful woman who will always be remembefed. She was really a simple woman as the home display. I would live to visit the home. As a teenager I had a scrapbook titled "Liz...my favorite actress. Her friendship with Michael Jackson was pictured on one table. This is a continued reminder of how beautiful she really was. Thank you for the tour. ❤

    Absolutely beautiful home - comfortable, gorgeously appointed (inside and out). Truly reflected it's owner. What made me so sad was when the narrator was saying that all her belongings were catalogued and auctioned off. I know it's just things, possessions, but it's so sad to me nonetheless.

      It is sad sassykitty, it's an end of an era that we shall never see again. Today's celebrities just don't cut the mustard..as they say.

    • @sassykitty292
      @sassykitty292 Рік тому +5

      @@milkshake3350 I agree. And what's worse is what gives these so-called "celebrities" their status, which is nothing. No talent, no grace, nothing. But it's the public that gives them this status, so that says a lot.

      She was a huge benefactor/donor to the AIDS/HIV and all of the proceeds from the auction went to this charity. I see it as a lasting legacy of Liz. Pretty admirable of her, I believe.

      Sadly it will happen to each of us. What matters is who is left behind, and her children wouldn't want the jewellery if they can't use it, they would want sentimental items that would have been distributed long before the auction, and a share of the proceeds.

    I totally enjoyed this tour! I've seen her home before in A D Magazine! Elizabeth loved her children and grandchildren.
    She spent most of her money on them, and she established the "Elizabeth Taylor Aides Foundation!"
    She also purchased a $500,000.00 Mobile Medical HIV/Aides Care Unit! Donating to various charities! She was more than just a pretty face! She was totally beautiful! 💜💜💜💜💜🥰

    When I was growing up, Elizabeth Taylor was a goddess...and the media and all of us, followed her every move. She was a true star and a great talent. And lucky girl, she had the love of the gorgeous Richard Burton, her real soulmate. I was stuck by the low-key, yet elegant quality of the house. I agree that it was a real home, of serenity and good taste.... just the right size. It was so HER. My favorite part was the velvet ring boxes and leather jewelry cases, well worn, yet holding the million dollar jewels, marked with little make-shift labels....I remember when he bought her that Krupp diamond.

    Yes it’s gorgeous. I love miss Taylor’s home inside and out. It’s beautiful like she is. ❤ do you have any videos of Rudolph valentinos home or errol Flynn’s home or the home that Robert fuller use to live in when he lived in California. I believe it was next door to Roseanne Barr or Rosie o donnell I can’t remember which.
