Klein has been killing it lately.
especially since 99.9 % of their products are Made in China
As someone that works on electrical systems often, Klein is my go-to brand for quality tools at reasonable prices. Great video!
Agreed
Quality tools ... without the Snap-On price.
Not so reasonable!
@@MESTER47 You can't afford them and that's fine.
@@MESTER47 If you can't afford them that's fine.
That Klein driver 30$ with all those extras... Leatherman $30 for a single bit extender. .
We really have Milwaukee to thank for all this innovation. Klein finally got some pressure in the hand tools market, especially from the made in USA Milwaukee line up. It has forced them to go heavy into their R&D bringing us these witty and multifunctional designs. People thought it was over for Klein after HD closing the door on them to drive a wedge between Milwaukee and Klein, but it just made the both of them get better.
You guys are making me get tools that I already have.
Impressive offering from Klein. Thanks for sharing Maxlvledc
Oooooh I love this. I want all the tools to work like lego.
I've been on that for a while. It's a lot of fun to play around with various combinations.
Leatherman has always been my go to. But they seem to have been focusing on the “tacticool” crowds lately and forgotten to innovate like Klein has been. Really impressed with this new pass through set from Klein. I recently picked up that 7 in 1 nut driver set from Klein and have been very happy with it. Thanks for the video!
I picked up the new screwdriver and smaller multi set about a month back and it is my go-to set for around the house as I remodel. My only desire is a clip mount you could get to attach the screwdriver to their MODBox system so it stays with the set. I really like their new cases... the boxes are well made and don't feel like they will shatter when dropped repeated times.
Klein has always been a favorite for screwdrivers & electrical tools for me and has been killing it with the new tools that have and are coming out.
I am a tool fanatic. I look for function, quality and design. This seems to have all of that. I love mobile compact sets that enable you to perform every vital tool function. Thank you for posting this video.
Didn't know square bit was called Robinson bits! Always great to learn something new. Especially when you've been a mechanic for over 40 years.
It's actually Robertson. I think they are the best driver type. Torx are decent, but I have issues with them "camming out" like a phillips head will often do. That never happens with the Robertson/square drive. They are rock solid.
It's a Canadian thing.
They aren't ,they do have differences, Robertson has taper Square bits do not.
I learned something new!
@@user-mn9gj9op1n Robertson drivers are typically (slightly) tapered in the machining to fit the fastener, however fasteners are NOT tapered .
I bought a Bibury Pro (surge) and a Klein driver off of your recomendation, I'm a big fan of them both. I went for the ratcheting one, the 17-in-1 I think. I love the convenince of tool compatibility, harmony is an excellent way to phrase such a concept.
The Ozark Trail Multiforce comes with a ball detent extender just like you were asking for.
Sadly very low quality. I had the ball fall out a few times.
That leather sheath for the Gerber looks NICE!
That is awesome!!! I am definitely going to pick this up
Great integration of tools. Thanks
I got a custom leather sheath made for one of those victorinox bit set/drivers and the knipex baby cobras that works as a left cheek wallet. Between that “wallet” and regular things like a pocket knife and whatever else one carries I found as much utilities as a multi tool with way less bulk. And they’re all dedicated tools that don’t compromise on anything
I'm going to have to start buying these sets.
I have the Victorinox bit holder with the 711L EDC Ratchet and a regular 1/4” extender instead of the Victorinox L shaped driver. It’s so flat, compact and useful. I rarely even bother putting the ratchet into my Wave as this little set up works so well without it.
Neat stuff. I love Last Best. My morning ritual when I get to the office is to confirm the nightly backups went through while I watch Last Best and Amber at Exile Armory. (Obviously MaxLvl too lol)
Klein makes great stuff!
The best bit retention on a screwdriver is either on the wiha ultradriver screwdriver where it works well with standard and wiha double sided bits, or the newer Milwaukee fastback 6-in-1 utility knife with its ball detent collar system. I don’t know why either style hasnt been made popular on bit extenders yet. For ball detent double sided bits, I will usually just pop it into one of the sleeves of the the klein ratcheting screwdriver. Between the fastback that I edc and the Klein that I keep in the work truck, I can pretty much use any style bit.
great information
I sincerely hope you're getting this stuff free of charge because believe you me... I plan on buying everything you show here! Please tell me I'm not the only one... right?
That’s a great overview, thanks for doing this! I am a huge Klein user because of you!
I saw those videos, too, and had to check them out at Lowe's last weekend. Don't think I can justify the purchase as I have similar tools already, but Klein's MODbox™ tool system is very cool.
I too combined the Klein 7 and 1 impact screwdriver with the Klein HVAC screwdriver handle 😂. But this socket set is pretty awesome
I bought some. Very nice.
Those klein sets are cool but I've had a craftsman through hole socket set that has everything the 1/4" and 3/8" set you've shown has plus it has metric sockets, a lot more sizes, and a screwdriver handle that can hold the 1/4" extension for like 10 years now and it's all in one box
The extension bit from the multiforce works great with the dl30
Guess I’m going to Lowe’s tomorrow! Been looking at some of the Klein box kits. I’m a 4th year electrician and I love Klein tools!
as a maint guy at a hotel, the most used tool is that ratcheting impact klein with an impact driver, i can do almost everything i need to. i had no clue it worked with those modboxes! i coulda swore i just saw a video saying that they dont work together, maybe it was just for the non ratcheting one or something but ill have to get it because doing things like closet bolts are annoying
I don’t have any Klein brand tools but I recently brought a roughneck screwdriver.
I own tons of klein tools the mini extendable 11 in 1 screw driver even the larger store in the handle ones are legit. Now I'll have the pass through. I get the klein wire strippers and wire crimps last week
Great shout out to last best tool, He has been been out daily fantastic content for the past few years it’s insane
The one klien with the 3 flip sockets is an old one as the new one goes from 1/4 to 3/4 inches
The Swiss Tool X w/this wrench kit has been my favorite. I added the pocket clip for the Swiss Tool X, and the wrench kit fits nicely in a pocket organizer. All that was just about the price of the Arc, and in my opinion way more useful because of the 1/4" capability with that wrench.
I have just recently come to appreciate the Swiss Tool Spirit X. I had one in hand before but thought I would like the Leatherman ARC more. I balked at the price for the ARC, came back to the Spirit X after getting a good deal on it, and really love it. It's a very well made tool with an excellent feature set. It's even made me come to appreciate other Victorinox multitool pocket knives I already own even more for their quality. I would have preferred the one handed opening of the MX Clip, but it wasn't worth the much higher cost compared to the one I purchased at a substantially discounted price.
This pleases my OCD to another levels
Ikr??
The double sided ball detent bits from my Klein 10-in1 screwdriver fit perfectly in my Leatherman bit extension. Not sure what incompatibility you are referring to.
Nepros is the highest quality tools I've ever seen. Out of Japan from the KTC corporation the same people that make Koken. Very harmonic working tools..
Ko-Ken is a separate company but yes, I got a Nepros 3/8” socket set, it’s incredible
Kinda got clickbaited by that gorgeous leather case, thought it was a new multitool. Luckily i stuck around to find out that it's for the centredrive and now i need it. Lol.
Incidentally i recently bought a makita impact driver edc set. Works perfectly for my centredrive and impact driver at a new house that i forgot to bring my toolbox.
Make me realise 80% of the time, i don't need a box full of tools. Might have to start clearing up the tool box (and tyre garage full of other tools!)
Pro tip: get a custom one. Use 15% code and you get the bit kit and sheath included for $147 ish.
They do make the 1/4” extender in the newer kits.
Husky makes the same exact pass through set for probably half the price. I've owned the husky set for 7 or 8 years now with no issues.
Is there anyway to add scissors to Gerber Dual Force? Watching the video, I remember that's the Gerber I own. I definitely need a holster for it and bits.
Seriously considering getting the Klein pass through, driver, and modboxes. I think the modbox would be great for my radio gear.
I’m an electrician and have used Klein tools for the last 15 years. Their packaging , appearance and organization have gotten alot better but their steel and tool quality have went down significantly. ALL of my bits, not some, ALL have warped and deformed on fairly light to medium work. Even the torx driver set with the pullout holder on the bottom I got for my knives deformed just by loosening t6’s, t8’s and t10’s. I’m very dissatisfied with their stuff . I have the ratcheting driver that I use everyday and guess what? The ratchet mechanism broke twice (I warrantied it out). The sole reason I continue to use their hand tools is because their dealers have a no questions asked warranty
Wow, this is very disappointing. I'll keep it in mind! Thanks!
I bought a Klein screwdriver set with the 30 bits, all bits have rust not even 2 months old. When I unboxed them they had a slight surface rust on some, now all of them are rusted, mind you I live in Arizona, no humidity
Wonder if those pass through sockets work with the similar craftsman set
Merci pour vos vidéos de qualité 🤗 Savez-vous quel sont les aciers utilisés par Gerber et Victorinox S'il vous plait ?
A ball detent extension is very cheap, this is good they're using it actually. You can pick up pretty much any impact or non impact extension. Gearwrench makes nice cheap ones, also pivoting ones as well.
With a ball detent??? That will lock in?? Link?
Should check out VIM Tools, best little 1/4 ratchets
LOWE'S is a good store. It has some products that Home Depot doesn't.
Hi interesting vid
i wonder if this is compatible with craftsman max axess passthrough sockets. this is what i always hoped craftsman would evolve that system into, but they just came out with the passthrough socket set and kind of shelved the system
Leatherman bit Extension pairs nicely with the 711L Mini Ratchet to use the Klein ball-detent double bits (as well as the intended Leatherman flat bits for a lightweight carry option on lesser used sizes). When the Extension is placed in the standard 1/4" sized magnetic tail of the 711L, you end up with a nice-in-hand screwdriver. Likewise, the Leatherman bit Adapter brings the same Klein compatability to the Bond (or anything that fits in its square end, such as Victorinox Rambler's Phillips for minimal carry).
Try making a comparison of klein scissors vs leatherman raptors cutting non wire products. Would love to see it
I gotta have it 😅
Thank you for your quality videos 🤗 Do you know which steels are used by Gerber and Victorinox please?
Depends...Centerdrive is 420HC, as are mp600. Victorinox uses their in house steel. It's soft but very corrosion resistant
HF/Icon is supposed to be releasing their 1/4” mini insert ratchet with sockets here soon. And I really like that little locking flex head ratchet.
It's super solid
@@maxlvledc I just wish it had a compact screwdriver handle and maybe some stubby wrenches with it.
Yes, I want a whole mini kit, lol
The file/saw holder on my bibury bent outward from use. any idea how to fix it ? Where to get replacement parts ? the tool is great otherwise.
To each their own, but I couldn't imagine having a Swisstool with the driver kit and wanting to use the kit with a Gerber instead.
3" and 5" extensions with ball detent are part of a screwdriver set sold at a large home improvement store.
any post about brand, store or part number get removed
Husky
Continuous Drive Ratcheting Screwdriver Set (18-piece)
Victorinox driver isn’t available on the market any idea where else I can purchase ?
Maxlvledc, Subscribed because your videos are always awesome!
Thanks!
I could 💯% get behind Taiwanese MTs.
I thought you could but just that L driver set from Victorianox to add to what you already have
Love the Swiss tool ratchet. Don’t like the knife on my Swiss Tool. Ratchet doesn’t fit with my Arc unfortunately or I would mix it up.
Looks like a great system. The only problem for me is that most of the time I use metric to take apart CNC machines and this set is SAE only.
They have a metric flip socket set, but I'm looking at all their options.
Dom' mused in passing about a Klein MT. A Klein MT would rightly pique the interest of many. Doubtless they could eventually produce a stout, solid product worthy of their brand.
Would they commit to the major tooling outlays and lengthy trial process to work out 100 inevitable kinks, before they're able to offer their first unit for sale?
They might figure they're doing just fine in the tool market, without troubling themselves with a foray into the MT one.
I love tool synergy, I cant stand having to have different bits and adapters for every single Impact, wrench, and driver in the toolbox.
Eye candy!
I been trying for years to get leatherman or gerber to sell individual tool part to their multi tool.
Like, at work I carry the leatherman wave, but i wish it had the same serrated blade that comes on the titanium surge- where it has the safety cutter (aka seat belt cutter aka wire sheathing stripper).
Some people don’t care about scissors but would prefer dedicated Philips and dedicated standard blade.
I never use my can opener but would like a second mini screwdriver.
I shouldn’t have to buy 3 or 4 different multi tools to be able to make my own.
I don’t get why none of the manufacturers can’t figure out to just say “size 1, size 2, etc” and people could buy all the specific parts they want to remove and install their own parts they want
A bit off topic but any chance you could recommend a belt clip for the wave that doesn’t break? I keep buying the leatherman branded ones and they breaks within the first month. I could understand if I stressed it a lot but I really don’t put a lot of force on it
Hmm, I wish I knew...I Havn't heard many good things about the off brands either.
Nice video!😊 You discussed this concept in two earlier videos which included the Klien 11-1 & the 27-1....can the Klien ball detent drivers be used in the Leatherman bit extender? I think you might have said this as you mentioned it would be the only way that the Surge, for example, might increase it's range...Very glad that Lowes has kept Klien on...HD did not & there are no Lowes where I'm at....your concepts just emphasize the point that if the LTG does not make adjustments, they will eventually go the way of the dinosaur...they should be leading the way in the innovation you are talking about...Klien teaming up with the "clone" companies would give these companies a "purchase" in the market place in terms of an established company willing to work with the "new kids on the block"...😊
The more I think on it, the more I want a gerber x klein crossover
@@maxlvledc Yup! & it will help Gerber as well....
I went to Lowe’s and found the Klein tools, staff didn’t know. They were locked up in a case, went to customer services and asked for someone to open it,waited 30 minutes, still no one showed up,but store security walked by a few times.
I had to get them to pull it down from the top
Same. Did that yesterday. They didn't even know they had Klein tools.
What’s the difference between between the Gerber Center Drive and the Center Drive Plus?
The Plus has scissors instead of the serrated blade and a multi blade instead of the normal straight blade. The Rescue has a strap cutter instead of the normal blade and a half serrated reverse Tanto instead of the serrated blade.
Klein just dropped the metric set a couple weeks ago!
Oooo!
It’s a shame that the metic kit is not available in the uk 🤔 I’ve tried to find one and so far I can’t find a seller that ships to the uk
@@davidvallerius4458 since the metric kit just came out, I think just 2 weeks ago or so, the stores maybe are just now starting to get over there. Maybe eBay has one you could get. They have an international shipping plan That's pretty great.
4:09 Robinson = Robertson, I love you
Woops!
So this was just a klein ad right? Thought there was going to be a little more to it.
Is there a pocket clip that works with the bibury multitools?
Most have one (Wave size) and the surge one can be added with one of the gun universal clips.
So what is the advantage of the pass thru design? Standard sockets have been around for over a hundred years and work universally but you have to give that up to go with the pass thru design, what are you getting in return? Seems like marketing silliness to me..
Obviously you've never had to remove a nut from a bolt that is too long to use a standard socket or a threaded rod. The only other choice is an adjustable or open/box wrench or a ratcheting box wrench.
@@RonaldDCass LOL. a bolt that is too long to use a standard socket. What?
Think threaded rod. Enough said?
Not trying to bring you down I get where you're going with this, but from the thumbnail and title I was expecting maybe grabbing one or two common driver bits and finding a way to practically integrate them into one of your EDC toolkits.
Hmm, that in itself would be a great video. Let me mull it over.
I mean, Gearwrench made those pass trough like 15 years ago 😅
Why doesn't Leatherman use ststandard bits
Doesn’t leatherman a good extension
The instrument is, of course, excellent. But nothing replaces just a single screwdriver. Sometimes the screw is in a deep and narrow well, where the thick tube of a universal screwdriver will not fit.
Facts!!! This is why I actually prefer a dedicated philips with bit adapter.
Gear wrench had a pass thur socket set like this twenty years ago. I bought them around 2001 but they didn’t function well. The socket adapter always fell apart when trying to use it. I threw the set away because they sucked! You can’t really use a pass thru socket because you need to put pressure on the bolt head to tighten it. Get a real mechanics socket set and don’t fall for gimmicks.
As a handyman i use the 10 in 1 everyday. Its awesome, but it lives in my toolbox, i wouldnt classify it as my edc. The only thing i carry on my body after work is my goat multitool
Oh?!?!?! How do you like it?
@@maxlvledc love it. been carrying it all year
@@nestoworks3402 great to hear
Klein is kind of Apple of hand tools. There is them a few other and the rest
Are any of the handles magnetic?
The driver I showed has 1 magnetic end, the others are not.
Do they offer a correspondence course to show you how all that works?
Hmm, I have no idea..but they 100% should!
Turn out the center drive 90 degrees, not 180 degrees - presto: more ability to apply torque.
thanks for showing that. Are you an electrician
Not at all. Think of me as the character Q from James bond...I want to equip people with capability.
Like to know the name of that L wrench set up with the red bit holder
victorinox 3.0303
Also there is a ratchet version 3.0306.
Linked in description
Klein, please take my money
Too bad they don't have a metric version of the 65300 set.
Robertson.
I realized I messed it up, but actually it's a pair of squares. They were not tapered
unfortunately companies do not like harmony
it's always PROPRIETARY like some of these new micro bits that are 3.5mm instead of the standard 4mm
I also never liked 1/4-hex with the ball detent
the driver should do the job of holding the bit with a lock ring, magnet, or ball detent
in fact I think it was a Snap-On 1/4-hex bit holder that had both a locking ring & magnet
I took an extra Craftsman Stubby Phillips Screwdriver & epoxied the Snap-On holder in it
Want
Klien multitool? Wish I got the backfire before it was discontinued, I like how you regroup the pliers into a set of dikes.
