Brent is a great guy. An absolute professional.. I'm sure he's a good employee. Definitely a great driver but also someone who anyone would be lucky to call a friend. One of the all time greats! He chained the tailgate whatever he's dumping will only come out so fast not that big of a deal get a end dump driver spreading in there and then you can say he's a professional driver
Just when I thought that I only had one more thing to learn with a dump truck, I find out that it's two more things I have to learn. That would be snow plow and now this spreading gravel situation lol! I like how he has the chains to keep that tailgate from opening too much. The first guy I seen do this on YT didn't have chains, and still did an awesome job, and he did it going in reverse.

Driver was gonna spread it to the road I asked him to lay it a bit thicker (I can get another few loads). This was dumped on top of the old hard packed driveway (except the mudhole) so I hope we left it thick enough. Thanks for watching!

You gotta tip that driver! He saved you a ton of work by spreading that stuff. My local trucking company won’t even do that. They just drop a 16 yard pile right in the driveway and I have to spread it with an d skid steer.

I drive a trimmer axle dump truck I've done this twice last 2 weeks we don't spread much but I've been driving trucks for 36 years I work with drivers that can't spread not hard but there's a difference between drivers and steering wheel holders people don't have any respect for truck driver people should have to ride with a truck driver before they can get a license but people can't drive see it every day bad drivers he did his job people don't realize you can't stop big truck quickly we dump in some tight and ruff places
I used a semi truck load of gravel, belly dump. Don't remember how many tons of gravel for my 330' driveway. Problem is I forgot to buy gravel with dust so when it rains it could have set up like concrete.
That's where the driveway was supposed to be. The bare dirt on the left side, is where they had been driving around the muddy spot. He said that he had to reseed that part of the yard, so the driver did it right.
GOOD TO SEE, men working TOGETHER, of different ' colors ! ' Oh, an item of interest for you; #lazypondFarm. Maybe get some old railroad ties, and put a row on each side, of the driveway. This, will make a wonderfull, border between the grass and the access road. Bury them about 2 inches into the earth; and maybe even paint them, white. This will be a good visible, sight at night when headlights shine. TAKE CARE......! That driver, obviously has alotta experience, gauging the load size /distance / depth of spread with speed required.

Geotex works I put it under a walk area over 15 years ago and it looks like the day it was completed. Prior to geotex we would add more gravel every few years .

Believe it or not, that is something not all gravel hack drivers can do. It's all in setting your chains tight as the weight of the gravel will open your tailgate farther than you think. Set them too loose and you'll make a mess. Too tight and not enough gravel will come out. Also you have to do it (open the tailgate) while the truck is moving so as to not make a pile. As I worked for a large municipality's road department we spread a lot of gravel in narrow city alleys where you also had to watch for overhead hazards like phone and electrical wires. So it looks easy and for a good driver worth his salt it is easy...as long as you keep your mind on what you're doing and what can happen if you don't. Safety first...

I had a delivery of stone for my driveway and they sent a truck without chains. The driver was great and spread it the best he could but why would they do that?
My guy I use for stone makes this guy look bad. I buy 300-400 ton a year for my place and he puts it down like someone used a Lazer level on it. I think he has a computer thing in his cab though that does it. He just laid 230 ton and I didn't have to touch it. He's amazing.
We're gonna need more eventually, but one load will do to fill holes from runoffs etc. So much we're spending money on right now, we gotta stretch the money as far as possible

Northeast Indiana anyway. If ya get any, once spread, compact.....wet and compact again. My drive is all millings. Lasted over ten years.....so far.
I had that done one time for a 300 foot driveway truck driver dispatch to tailgate for 2-inch poor and he just drives down the lane easy two truck loads

I've built highways for 25 years and seen hundred's of loads of stone spread maybe 2 drivers out of 20 can do this. My hats off to this pro driver.

Used to run a tri axle here in New Jersey and the formula we used was 1 ton would cover 100 sq ft , 2 inches thick with 3/4" stone.
Yeah that didn’t really look like 20 tons of #57 limestone but it looks really thick I lay it always at 2” thick

When spread dumping a land guide is helpful. With the snowplow put your chains on before you need them.

I've had just about 2" of gravel on mine for about 12 years with no loss of material except what got scraped away from snow plowing.

He said crush and run which is also called crusher run or ABC. Here in Raleigh 20 tons of crush and run is $750, or $37.50 per ton.

Geo-fabric it's a must if you want this to last, otherwise weeds will come out, then the gravel will mix with dirt and it will disappear overtime...

Your hiring the wrong people. This is how it works in my area. If the driver has any experience it only takes a few minutes to spread
If you are building a road or a driveway all dump truck drivers dump their load this way, it’s common practice.

I would not suggest pea gravel until you hav a solid base. Also pea gravel is nor good with lawn mowers! It will shoot it all over
57 stone will lock in and hold up better

53 s is a good size for driveway. Just enough dust in it to harden up stop the rock from rolling around.. Size 2 for a base. Let water down thru it.
