Rip rap is definitely a love/hate relationship! 🤣 It sure is aggravating to work with at times. Job turned out nice! 👍 God Bless and Happy New Year Sam
I work for the largest asphalt construction company in the Pacific Northwest and I got to tell you guys, I was very impressed with you. I don't know about you guys, but up here in the Pacific Northwest, we get lots and lots of rain it is, in fact, considered a rainforest up here. We have these things called drainage ponds every single property that is out there must have a drainage Pond it is a way of collecting rainwater storing it and any overflow then is allowed to go into the storm drain system it works tremendously well at keeping the storm drain system from becoming overwhelmed. I was born and raised in Houston Texas and I know over there it is clay. That clay probably goes down hundreds of feet they would have to make every property development down there do the same thing with these kinds of drainage ponds but they would have to be bigger to absorb the massive amounts of rain in the downpours that they get.
Former Landscape Architect.... amazing results when you have amazing equipment. You follow rule number 1: if you are going to do a job, do it right the first time. Grading, subbase, drainage, surface treatment, etc all play key parts in driveways, especially gravel ones. Job well done... thanks for sharing.
Good job! I have seen the highway equipment that acts like a Big Blender and blends the soil and gravel for a depth of 2-3 feet with big rocks then they do regular gravel base above that before the final pour.
Looks good. What brand roller is that? What kind of tilt attach is on the kubota? Do you have any grade control on the mini-ex? I'm in north MS. Our limestone is from Rogers Group as well. Good looking driveway.
Thanks for watching! Roller is Skidpro. Bradco tilt. There is no grade control on the mini-ex, just set grade and do half bucket pulls. It helps to start at the drain and work away so the grade flows correctly.
I know every job is different. But im looking to have something like this done with my driveway minus the rip rap. I live in Jackson County about 7 miles from hwy 293 off of Hilham hwy..
Thanks for watching! We work in your area. You are welcome to contact us and we can give you quote for your specific needs. www.graveldrivewayrecovery.com
Compaction is important, but the material needs to be properly conditioned beforehand. This means moistening the material before rolling it. The material appeared too dry initially. Secondly, a subsurface drain should be installed at the lowest point of the driveway, roughly at its midpoint. This drain should run under the driveway to direct water from one side to the ditch on the other, ensuring proper drainage.
Its gonna be hard to keep weeds out of rip rap sand and sod would look better and easier to maintain rip rap is for steep ditches and creek banks that wash hard
Just found your channel. Thanks for taking the time to share your talent and techniques! I'll definitely be watching your back catalog of videos. I have about 5 miles of gravel roads to maintain. We use compact tractors (40hp or less). Your method of compaction with a skid steer is the thing we need, but just can't fit it in the budget. Have you seen or know of any less expensive ways to add compaction to our maintenance and repair that will work with a compact tractor?
They young man running the bobcat is a pro!
He is great!
Great work. It's interesting how versatile and helpful the bobcat is with its attachments that are available.
Thank you!

Nice job. U make flow real nice. :) I also make flow. Some times they want the water to flow up hill:(
Thank you for sharing!
Great to see excellent work with the best equipment! Does the job require any additional compaction after a few rains? Thanks.
Thank you! It gets harder after it gets wet and then dries.
@@graveldrivewayrecovery ok, thanks!
Good work . And a good D-truck driver will save an operator lots time and aggravation.
So true!
Does the roller vibrate or just downward pressure from the machine? Thanks.
It vibrates.
@@graveldrivewayrecovery Thanks.
What type of fabric do you use under the rip rap?
Woven geofabric
Moral of the story: don't buy a house that sits lower than the road.
Thanks for your feedback!
Yeah good luck with that sometimes

Thank you! That isn't something I am free to share.
Cost?
Can you tell me what is name of yours Kubota Machine???
97-2
What does a job like that cost?
Nice job😊
Thank you!
Just curious you dont have to give exact price but what would the price be to have something like this done?

Have you ever "dusted" Portland cement on a finished gravel driveway to form a more solid stable surface?
No. We compact it.
Secret is it needs dug up to lowest point and graded properly
Thanks for sharing!
The expression is "slip-shod".
Sounds good!
Fun tripping hazard at night
Like selling ice to an Eskimo.
You keep calling it rip rap.. what size is it. 4 or 6in ?
What ive heard called rip rap is 18in to 12in.
Oh. Very nice drive. 😊
There are different sizes of Rip Rap. And thank you!
@graveldrivewayrecovery
Didn't answer what size ya used. 😄
Again. Super slick work. Sure looks like the way to fix one.

Shame that after all the work it will be rutted in 2-3 years. Should have put down fabric.
You dont always need fabric, long as the base is solid. Looked ok to me.

Thank you! You can rent a dedicated roller.
I don't think I've ever seen blast rock that small, if someone orders rap they might be sad about the size of the material. I used 6inch clean.
That is A3 Rip Rap. It is mainly 6-8 inch, but has smaller pieces too.
