  • This a a walk around (and crawl under) look at my new purchase of a 1968 Triumph Spitfire MK 3. Good points, bad points and what I need to improve or restore. A great example of how many "zip tie" and "Gorilla Tape" repairs have been layered on this classic over the years.

I'm working my way through the 1969 I picked up about 6 months ago, so this is useful :)

If you are looking for something to do with that car, it needs the chrome-ish trim around the windsheild rubber.

Thank you for your comment. I plan on getting around to that as soon as I can. It will improve its appearance a great deal. I appreciate you input. Thanks for watching.

If the radio was original it wouldn't be working anyway. I have an original Triumph Radio and it is not functional. I have no idea how to fix it.

Ha, great comment. It lights up and makes noise, but doesn't receive any signal. It just looks cool. have not installed it yet. I left the bluetooth radio in there. More videos to come.

It's anice Spitfire, but itisn't going to win any concours competition. I HATE Webers on British cars. This car deserves dual carbs of the original type. You may be encouraged to hear it's not my damn car so you can ignore what I dislike. The exhaust is a period correct add-on so I'm good with it but you really need to get rid of that flex pipe.

I really appreciate this comment. I value your input. The worst thing about this Spitfire is the previous owner took the body off the car, bondoed it up and painted it white, looks like with a roller. No shine, lots of orange peel. The original color was blue.
I also hate Webers. I have a couple of sets of SU's but no Spitfire manifold. I will be selling the car in the spring and if I find a manifold before then I will install it. I also plan on replacing the header on the car, It is rusty and patched up. When I do that I will get the proper connecting pipe.
And finally...I would like to have your input about my front bumper solution. The one that came with the cars was twisted, dented and looked horrible. I can't afford a new one and have not been able to find a good used one so I came up with this idea until I can afford a new bumper. Like to know what you think. The video is on my channel titled "Triumph Spitfire bumper and top seal"
      Thank you again.
      Cheers

@@Robertsbritishcars Your solution to the bumper is reasonable. Let the next owner buy one of the Vietnamese stainless reproductions. Sadly, I can't help as I only have front bumpers for squaretails. I do have some split rear bumpers for a roundtail complete with bumper guards but they aren't lovely.
