  • Your identity is everything. Jordan Peterson drops the bombshell "identity is negotiated by anyone who isn't two". Now, depending on your definition of identity and things like the mind and soul (and spirit if you want to have some wild fun on the metaphysical side of things (:-), you may or may not have a problem with this. It's a strange thing to say in one sense, but totally cogent in another. You'll see what I mean.

Excellent presentation, sir! I truly appreciate your telling of a personal experience where you first came to recognize the negotiation process in action. This topic smacks of Richard Schwartz's work on IFS (Internal Family Systems). I highly recommend giving his work a look-see. Thanks again for this awesome glimpse into a very important topic.

Thank you, I appreciate it! IFS - I've definitely heard of that model but don't know much about it, I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the recommendation!

So is it what we set an ideal in our mind while stitching the stories (we tell ourselves) what we see in people around us or the mixture of the qualities of people mixing them and making an ideal person in our head which eventually becomes our higher self guiding us towards it .... ?? Correct me I am wrong

Hahaha, yes - he cracks me up. He's intelligent enough to take even the most complex ideas and break them down Barney style to "ETMLI5", but just to make sure you don't forget that he has the verbal IQ (and you know, IQ-IQ) of a demigod, every now and then he'll pop off with a "automaticity" here and a "dialectical approach being necessary to reconcile phenomenological experiences with ontological questions about the nature of being" there - sends me to Merriam-Webster every other video or so XD
