- This is some information and test footage about Canon's Digital IS (Digital Image Stabilization) in the EOS M6 Mark II. The Digital IS system is really pretty good, but you need to know how and when to use it.

Informative video! Great editing!
Exactly what i needed to see
This is a great review!
Thanks!
Nice comparison 👍🏻
You have great knowledge
Thank you.,
The enhanced option is meant to mimic a tripod shot when shooting a static subject while going handheld. The examples you demonstrated with the camera above your head is what it was intended for. It’s not intended for movement, panning or tilts.
I normally use “enabled” when vlogging, specifically while walking forward. But doing any kind of cinematic panning or tilts, I turn it off. I get a jello effect.
Also, your videos on the M6 ii were very helpful to me and I ended up buying one but, it’s stuck in the mail with usps due to the virus, so that sucks. But excited to try it when it gets here
Thanks, you will love the camera, when it eventually shows up!
will you make a video about a comparison between ef-m adaptor and speed booster ? btw nice content
Thanks for the request. I have never been one to use the speed boosters, mainly because of the sacrifice in image quality. So I don’t own one, otherwise I would do a comparison.
Have you tried the digital horizon leveling IS feature? I've heard it can do some good work without cropping into the footage. Would love to see how it fares with OIS as well.
Yes, it works pretty well. I think it does crop in a minimal amount.
@@markwiemels Excellent!! Getting my M6 mark ii on Monday, and I'll give it a try.
Love your videos and intentionality. New sub here!
Where can I find HORIZON LEVELLING IS in M6 Mark II ?
I want to see speedbooster sigma 18-35mm
Is the digital IS only works for video or it can be used for long shutter photo as well?
It’s only for video, so doesn’t work for long exposure.
One thing ive noticed is that you either loose quite a bit of resolution or your footage becomes much softer when using the enhanced mode. have you tried it with 4k?
Yes, the samples at the end of the video were 4k. I agree you do loose resolution, you would probably only use that mode when absolutely needed, or when shooting in 4k and planing to downscale to 1080 anyways. Having said that, I can't see anywhere canon has said anything about this, but the Digital IS seems better in the M6 Mark II than the M50. I got warping and weird issues with it in the M50, and don't seem to have those problems with the M6 Mark II.
@@markwiemels yes. I use it in my 6d mark 2 and the loss in resolution is very noticeable. (1080p) Looking into getting a 4k cam so i can downsample
Does the autofocus dual pixel still work with the digital is?
yes.
@@markwiemels thanks!
How is the image stabilization for still photos?
Yah, great, no problems there are all.
digital is work with Manuel lenses?like kamlan or meike
No, best I can tell it does not.
Very hard to find info on this but I’m not convinced it does. When i turn it on with my manual samyang lenses the camera does crop in but the IS icon flashes with a NO sign. And the footage doesn’t seem any more stable at all. I think the answer is no.
You juste gain a new folower
Thanks!
does the digital IS work in still mode?
No, it’s only a video function.
