The acceleration at the end of the vid from the hover to forward flight was incredible!

I was on 4 Sqn in the late 70's, and it made me so proud to see them flying into the deployed sites.

i live near the airport gütersloh and when i was a child, i often drove with my bike to the airport and looked at the starting and landing airplanes. last year, they appointed the air traffic forever and the airport will be closed in the next years, when all raf- soldiers leave the airport. in my mind it´s a pitty and sometimes i missed the power sound of harrier, lynx, tanks and co..... :(

Great demonstration of Harrier hovering, also the ZDF garden looks like the Teletubbies garden LOL. 0:52

One of the best Harrier hovering display videos I've seen on UA-cam, or ever.

amazing footage of an original type harrier gr3. the original little british one seems to move in a much more spritley manner than the newer bigger gr5 onwards type

My brother was stationed in Guterslöh around this time. He was in charge of an engine team so he was partly responsible for the hover.

@gmarina789 Nah, quit years ago! Been a commercial airline pilot for Cathay Pacific for the last 15-20 years now - how someone can go from the excitement of flying Harriers to Airbuses is beyond me! He was in 4Sqn btw, but was based in Gutersloh at that time - he said the name of your dad rings a bell, but it was a whole lifetime ago now!

Imagine combining the Harrier GR3 with 1980's German Porn. That'd be ace.

Can we have those back instead of the appalling f35. The Pegasus engine concept was far superior to the moronic lift fan.
