We finally did it! We lifted our Jeep Wrangler JKU 3 inches, and we could not be happier with the way the Motofab kit went in, as well as the new ground clearance for not much coin! We love it! We hope you enjoy this step by step DIY install guide. As you have seen, not all installs go smoothly, but this was the gold standard. Everything dropped right into place. Having done this once, we could do it again in under 3 hours for all 4 corners. Pretty awesome. Anyways, here are some links as promised: Jeep drives like Original, which was huge for us. Hey Guys,
Great video. Just a little hint/tip, any time you are changing things with the suspension, it is much much easier if you loosen the control arm bolts and remove 1 bolt from the track bar. that will allow your axle to be much more flexable and give you more travel without fighting against you. The arms and track bar are holding the axles in place when they are tight. Besides, you should always loosen the control arms and then re tighten them back up after it is back on the ground with tires so they are not in a bind from the old ride height before the lift. Make sense?
    Keep up the good work...
I still think Jerry was going to pick me.... :-)

Well, I'm no pro by any means, but I have been wrenching on Jeeps and the like for a little over 40 years now and I have learned a few things along the way by busting knuckles and smashing fingers... So, that was WAY before this thing called the internet. Early on you just took your best guess at how to do something and try it until you got it done, and then hope you remember how you did it. (To help reduce blood loss the next time)
But, like i had said earlier, it would still be a good idea to loosen and then re torque all of your control arms with the Jeep sitting on its wheels. That will relax the bushings and take the preload out of them from adding the spring spacers. Again, you guys keep up the good work. In case you were wondering I presently have a 2005 TJ RUBICON. I've had a couple of JKU RUBICONS, but really keep going back to the TJ's...

@@Garagecouple yup, i had it happen with my 2.5' teraflex lift and 35" tires. Def a common issue, once you go up an inch or two in lift kits, that CV boot will give and the bearings in the front drive shaft will start to make cracking and popping noises because the OEM shaft isn't designed to run daily in that angle. Best thing is to get new drive shafts with yokes on each end and ditch the OEM CV setup. Curious to see how the spacer kit will work. It adds more bolt tie-in's which I myself am weary of bc it creates more points of stress and failure. Hopefully you guys don't experience that.

@@markmissildine961 you will have to take a measurement of the driveshaft length after putting on the lift and have someone make you one. It can be done with or without the existing driveshaft in if the height of the lift allows. My fix for the moment was getting another OEM driveshaft from someone who had one in their garage until I can afford to have one made and ditch the CV joints and go with something a bit more robust.

Look at 10:14 in the video. It is the spacers that go into the lower shock mount on the front axle. There is also a good shot of the spacer at 10:50 and 13:37. It keeps the bolt from collapsing the lower mount when you install the shock extension.

Also had to replace the rear track bar with an adjustable one to re-center the body to axel. When installing my new longer rear sway bars, I had to move them to the inside of the mounting brackets to avoid top bolt contact with the wheel. Note: JT gladiator rear sway bars are also mounted on the inside of the brackets.
