      @@kyleolin3566correct most people think intake and exhaust are enough, it’s not the ecu needs to be flashed/changed or your unlikely to see bigger gains due to the map on it. You gain horsepower and a slight increase in mpg when you do it that way.

    The stock intake on the jeep wrangler is a thing of beauty, a rare engineering example of functionality over regulation. You don't need an aftermarket intake on a wrangler, it doesn't do anything, zip, zero. It also increases your chances of sucking water into the intake manifold when you replace it. The exhaust is something that I can get behind though, but you need to remove the catalytic converters and flash the ECU. If you're looking to stay legal, you'll need a custom exhaust to accommodate the lift you chose, if you're hard-core.

      As @@IGOPU explained ecu correct the afr right away or you would melt the piston on the first start making it lean.
      Adding more airflow by itself won't do a thing to power, 7 HP difference can just be observed between two pulls back to back.

    One thing that gets me with these after market intake kits is the lack of accumulators. Those big blanked off tubes on the stock intake assembly are there to hold clean air. When you step on the throttle hard, this air is drawn into the motor to give a better instant torque numbers. They have no effect on average number though. So think of it this way, those are there for taking off from stop lights and sighs.

  • @DonovanGoodwin
    @DonovanGoodwin 4 роки тому +3

    Sure a little more power never hurts but in reality the issue you're suffering is simply a matter of gearing in my opinion. Of course if you have more rotational mass you are going to notice a loss in power, but in terms of putting 35s on with even 4.10 gearing, The issue shouldn't be power. I think the problem your experiencing most likely is not due to higher rotational mass. I believe you're going to notice a tremendous difference by regearing your Jeep. Maybe going to something like a 5.13 gear set. A lot of people(maybe not you) throw a cheap lift kit on a Jeep destroy the ride quality and put a lot of stress on the engine and transmission because they don't regear and fix geometry changes when they lift their Jeep. You put bigger tires on even just a couple of inches bigger chances are you've changed your gear ratio to a point where your vehicle is going to feel significantly more sluggish. When you put a lift on you change all the geometry of the Jeep and often times this causes wandering and sometimes it ends up resulting in death wobble and a whole slew of other issues related to driveline. Of course a couple of inches you're probably not going to notice that much of a difference if you've got adjustable trailing arms and have taken your Jeep to an alignment shop to have them adjusted properly, but on our Jeep Wrangler(4.5in lift) when we got it it was awful to drive, The shocks were terrible, All of the steering geometry was out of whack and it had bad ball joints on top of that. So after putting it nearly $5,000 in teraflex front end parts it drives like a dream. The only thing left to fix is the cheap shocks that came with the cheap lift kit. So take it from me If you'd like to lift your Jeep do it the right way, You're going to be so much more happy with the results and more comfortable driving it to far away places. No one likes a Jeep that wanders into other lanes or can't get out of its own way. I understand doing it the right way can oftentimes result in a lot more money spent and if that's the case well I can understand people trying to just get by with a cheap lift kit and upgraded as you go but just know what your getting into. Sometimes the best left kit is the one that you build on as you go. So when you go around town telling your friends and buddies not to get a Jeep and lift it because you've had a bad experience with it just know that when a lift is done right it rides like factory, or close.

She was okay at 75, maybe 80 when passing others, but when I had to slow for traffic, it took some effort to get back to speed. Definitely looking to add some upgrades for even a little more oomph. Add e3 spark plugs i swear by them my buddy did nothing but change his plugs to e3 at the track and shaved a full second off his 1/4 mile time. I run them in my rides and bikes too.

    Are you thinking about changing the intake manifold?

    Smart video, I haven't done the air box mod because of possible water intake when fording. This video should be a template for all wannabe Jeep videographers.

    • @modeverything1

      Probably not on these, they only have one exhaust port/head. The header/manifold is cast into the head. A lot of manufacturers do this now.

    I know this is kind of an old video but I was wondering how you like the wheels on your Jeep I just got them on mine and then found out their cast and I was worried about cracking and potentially off-road have you had any issues?

    what about the gear ratio, I have 37 tires and 5.13 gears and my jeep feels powerful, and the pick up is damn fast for a jeep, your exhaust does sound nice.

    It does mean a huge difference when you know big tires and rims my brother his is stock and I have a big lift and tires and rims and I has a cold air intake and headers but still want more power I thought about seeing if a tuner or chip would make a difference but with the big heavy bumpers and roof rack add more weight but I'd love to just put a v8 in it but has to be ways to pull more power out the v6
