    I just restored a 1978 kz650 Custom, the one with the triple disc brakes. It is a terrific all around street bike.

      1978 kz650sr was the first street bike for me at age 18. Bought it new of the showroom floor. I loved that bike. I have a basket case 78 SR in line for retoration!

    Would be better if you didn’t have the background radio or tv noise 👍🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

      That's a double edge sword. I would love to have background music but the silly copyright issue will shut me down. Thanks for the input.

    I had one of those back today that's candy apple red and very faded. I watch a lot of the videos on Johnny's vintage motorcycles in fact they're looking for a KZ650 for me

    Johnny's Vintage Motorcycles is the place for Kawazaki spares. He's on UA-cam and in America. Ohio, I think.

    John, One eyed Jerry said, "Those case guards are for whimps. Toss the one case guard." Left Foot Lewi said, "I could have used that right case guard when I went down on my right side." There you have it... Two different opinions, but Lewi has experience not having a right side engine guard, thus he is now Left Foot Lewi.
    We here in Shingletown want pods and flat bars. Kind of makes the KZ650 into a Japanese 4 cylinder, "Thurxton." That way, Mt Rose is no problem (except in the winter). I have the same set up for soldering as you have except, I have a magnifying glass with my two clips. Have you ever tried to solder a piece of jewelry clip ring on a necklace? You need a magnifying glass!
    OK, Chico "The Parts Manager" seems to be busy with all the parts he is going to need for this project. Show us the "Adventures of Chico" while he as at work ordering parts.
    Hey, did I see the Victory Vision in the side room with a new front fender (no green tape on the fender)??? It was at 35:14 on the time scale..... Shingletown is on pins and pine needles waiting for the next JT Custom's video... Bring on Part 2.

    Z1 enterprises website has all the grommets and bushings you would need. If grommets aren't in that bad of shape, gently wash them and put them in a zip lock bag soaked with mother's vinyl leather rubber cleaner/protector. And forget about it in a hot container/ closet/ attic for a week, they will come out looking brand new. This was an accidental discovery for me.

    I have a 1978 kz650 and I’m having a issue with the headlight the fuse is good and I replaced the headlight. Any tips? It went out while I was riding last night trying to get home

      If it’s the sealed headlight type the bulb may have blown so you’d need a new complete lamp 👍🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

      I forget about mis-matched parts but I should know as old and neglected as these old bikes are you are probably spot on. In the second part I am going to ask the question about color? I have done an Eddie Lawson green paint job in the past and I think it would look great on this bike. The old colors just don't get the attention at bike shows? Thanks for the heads up.

      they came in blue or red in 78, which makes it a b2a (canadian) i recently bought a blue one, the carbs are mikuni vm22ss, they have the extra elongated holes at 10 oclock, which denotes it a b2a

      @JTSCUSTOMS  4 роки тому

      @@shaunholbrook2288 I had identified it as a b2a but your info is spot on. I looked at the carbs and they DO have the oval holes @ 10 o'clock! You know anyone with a seat???? also any idea where to get the oem color. I have exhausted every option and come up with nothing. I will take it to the paint shop and see what I can come up with but it will not be xact. I have one more long shot color rite by phone still to try.

    I just did my 1979 kz650 worse condition than yours, I would gladly do another but u would need my own shop, too much of a hassle going elsewhere for blasting and painting
