Minecraft added its third mysterious music disc, Disc 5, in the 1.19 update. The music disc, which is found in an ancient city, where the warden spawns, is similar to Minecraft's Disc 11 & 13. This is Minecraft 1.20 in 2022.

Worth mentioning that discs 11 and 13 were made years before 5 and any of the sculk stuff.
but the sculk sound?
@@Darko_Boi That's only on the new disk, 5. I'm sure the first two were made to be pieced together and were made at the same time, then when they asked the same artist to make disk 5, there was a concerted effort to make sure it was not only interesting to listen to alone, but could be meshed with the other two if played correctly.

I would assume that when you play disc 11 right after disc 5,
its as if the player was running from the Warden to escape to the surface because he's one of the only survivors
after such a tragic attack. And possibly in Disc 13, I could say that the survivor dodges the sonic ray and jumped into a river below the hill.

You can hear creeper explosions and arrow sounds in disk 11 and 13. I doubt it's the warden. It's most likely the mad rush to escape to the caves to avoid the wither, opening a portal to escape when the wither arrives at the city, only for a warden to step through and kill the wither. You can hear the warden's roar when the portal opened, as well as a slowed down death sound of the wither.
They praised the warden, naming it the warden, someone who could protect and gaurd the city. They carved its face into stone, and shaped the portal to look like him.
Eventually, they learned it was hostile, and blind. They placed wool on the floor of the city, but it was too late. Sculk had spread through the portal, and the warden had finished off the last of the survivors, leading the Ancient City to fall into disrepair.

This is... interesting. I remember a day several years ago, where my brother and I were playing Minecraft together. We were building an underground house on a superflat creative world, and we decided to look at the music discs and listen to them. We had never played the disc 11 before because we thought that a broken and shattered record would not play. We were also new to Minecraft, so we had never even heard the other discs except Chirp which is still my favourite record, even five years later with Pigstep and Otherside. We played the disc 11 and were very curious until we heard the digging. That scared the crap out of both of us and we fled from the underground house, though we knew that it was just a video game and that we could not die in this mode, but it still scared us. A few months later, I played the disc 13. The first part I thought sounded like bells ringing, which I was rather fond of, until the creepy stuff started. A few years later and I play the disc 5, knowing very well that it's going to be creepy. About a week later I find this video and oh my good lord this is interesting.

Wow that's dark...
Honestly, those first sounds you thought were the warden were most likely the wither. The guy was probably heading to the ancient city to warn everyone they'd been found. They opened the portal, only to hear sculk on the other side. You can hear the wither outside, and an army stepping up to defend while the portal is opened. You can hear the warden roar, followed by the death sound of the wither. The wither was gone, everyone praised the Warden, allowed sculk to spread through, until eventually, they learned that the warden was hostile, and also blind. They added wool to the floor, but eventually the warden found them all, leaving the sculk to spread through the ancient city, and letting the city fall into disrepair, Killing off the last survivors in the overworld.

I love the addition to the story of Minecraft, but I kind of hope it’s never fully told. Ever since I was a twelve year old girl playing on her cousin’s computer cause she didn’t have her own, I liked that we had to ability to take all these pieces and use them and our own imagination to come up with our own story.
Back when all we had were Discs 11 and 13, and there was no apparent connect to them, I always thought Disc 11 told the story of a man who was… clearly running from something, not sure what though. His coughing suggested illness, or an issue with his lungs, or maybe where he was there was just a lot of smoke or something. That clicking sound we hear I always thought was him lighting a pipe, so maybe that’s it.
The flipping of paper was him journaling about something, maybe his travels or his discoveries or his secrets. I always thought that whatever it was he was journaling about was the reason he was running from something. Eventually that thing catches up with him, and he has to escape into the Nether, hence the warping music and why it suddenly cuts. Although now I’m thinking he might be escaping *from* the Nether.
Back then I always wondering where Disc 12 was. And now we have this.
@@fartsmella9267 Oooh, and the clicking is him lighting a torch!
It sounds like a dude is running from the warden, tries to block up towards the surface but gets knocked down, maybe hits the warden and it goes away. The man starts to light a torch and begins to run when the warden comes back, he then strikes it with his sword which is the sort of slicing sound and the warden screams and runs away. The man tries to block up again, but alerts a skulk sensor, which summons the warden and finishes the man off. This is just what it sounds like to me.

theory: minecraft had the idea about the warden for many updates, the discs playing together is from the sculk dimension and in 1.19 it came over into our world. The footsteps are animals, mobs and even players running.
Dude this sounds like someone trying to light and nether portal after discovering its secrets from an ancient book. It runs towards what seems to be an attempt of a 4 by 4, but it’s not lit. It doesn’t care , brings the torch from the house ( even tough it’s night time ) and goes running through mud and grass to its location . It faces a zombie ( it flew from it ) and almost looked at a enderman in its way. Getting there it sees that the torch does not work , so it uses the lighter in the pocket , that than fires up the portal.
I love how there's still a nice cute dirt placing sound amongst all the scary sounds.

Gates open in Disk 5, it's impossible to miss...
I didn't hear any gates opening bro. Either a separate recording entirely different from the disks is being played, or each disk cancels the other out at a given time. Either way, this is HARD coded into the game.
Credit to you. You actually didn’t talk over the music like some UA-camrs.
👍
I have a theory on what's happening in these discs after listening to them closely.
It sounds like an experienced adventurer in a cave moving to probably the new biome in the cave, he cycles through a book to see if there's any records of such a place so he tries to light a torch with flint and steel. Most likely the reason why he was using it so long was because the light was dimmed and flickering. That's when The Warden probably comes into view from the light and the chase ensues. The player manages to barley escape and makes it back to his house. The next set of sounds could probably be a nightmare sequence of what happened and that unidentified creature actually catching him. This leads to the player eventually going back to face The Warden with the slow steps and when he does something strange happens instead...
I feel so bad now because I’ve just made a custom resource pack replacing the tracks of these 3 discs specifically because I thought they were trash
I expect a disk 15 that solves all the lore in 1.21
I thought it was about the traveler digging a grave and hearing the church bells ring, then the sound of the warden is the angered soul, and the rest of it is his curse. But I seriously thought you would explain it.

This is amazing! Glad they're expanding Minecraft music disc lore after all these years
**minecraft lore intensifies**

Feels like after a serious of chases, this anonymous heaving breathing guy opens a portal to the Warden's dimension, goes further in, then wakes the beast and...then dies? I have no idea.
What if the Warden is actually simply built with bone, but powered by complex redstone? Maybe it was taken over by the skulk which was created by dead bodies? This could be a reference to the old caves (when mushrooms spawned in the smaller and more frustrating caves). Mushrooms irl convert waste (ex.: manure and dead bodies) into fertilizer for themselves. When the ancient builders found out about the ability of the mushrooms, they harvested and stripped the caves of their mushrooms, explaining how the caves generated in newer versions barely (maybe even no mushrooms I haven't played in a while) have mushrooms. They experimented on dead bodies with the mushrooms they harvested, but all they created was mush, the mush known as skulk. The intrigued scientists continued their experiments, but other scientists took the opportunity to use the excess bodies to create a machine monster made of bone, the Warden. Suddenly the experiment of skulk, dubbed the Mush Experiment went terribly wrong and infested the entire city. Several blocks were fine, but some of the blocks were consumed by the skulk. Soon, the skulk had gained the power to create it's own physical forms, the skulk catalysts, skulk shriekers, skulk veins, and skulk sensors. It had also gotten sentience, as the mushrooms had "sentience" of some kind (it's a living thing irl so yeah). It also discovered that some bony robot called The Warden existed, and so, the skulk spread to farther caves to add up to its power. Several months later, it grew far too strong for the Warden, and the skulk took over the Warden.
The end theory children. Sweet Grubhub dreams.

U can hear mobs like creepers and skeletons early on, as well as the wither sounds and explosions. Then, a portal is opened, there's sculk sounds, a warden roar, then the slowed down death sound of a wither.
There’s no point trying to tell the viewers not to try this there literally going to ignore you 😂

Nah man, the players don't want fireflies...
They want 12 Year Long disk puzzles
it sounds like someone is in a cave, builds a nether portal, goes to the nether and back, finds himself in a sculk biome, activates the warden, and to be continued
Man watching Matpat's latest theory it sort of does make sense. Disk 5 is the most heavy lore drop disk in my opinion as it clears stuff out even more. You can literally hear the wither dying towards the end after the warden was set off, likely due to the portal in the middle of the area opening which results in the warden spawning in and killing the wither, but obviously the warden doesn't side with the survivors, instead attacks them too which results in the disk cracking towards the end into shards.
Long story short for those who haven't watched the theory: Basically Matpat believes these ancient builders of a tribe which worshipped one of the gods (referring to Minecraft legends) fled down into the caves due to the wither chasing them after a horrible experiment gone wrong (4 soul sand and 3 skulls which spawned him) they built a civilization in the deep dark and tried setting up the middle portal to escape to some unknown place but it never seemed to work (there is proof because underneath the portal is some Redstone they were probably experimenting with to open the portal). The wither finally caught up to them underground and the portal (for some unknown reason) opens which you can clearly hear in the disk which tragically also fails as an escape route as it results in the warden spawning in through the portal and blasting it's ray at the wither which kills it (we can also clearly hear a slowed down version of a wither cry).
So when you look at it that way, it genuinely does make sense
IT SOUNDS AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it may sound like it is about the warden but i think it is a nod to herobrines oldest existence in the Minecraft community since 2011 just for an easter egg in general
those 3 discs sound like they tell the same exact story...a caver traveling through caves to an army to either help or warn them of the Wither and it ending up in failure in disc 13, disc 5 is the aftermath of the failed attempt to warn/help the army near the end with the Warden one hitting the Wither
A man, dying, close to death, runs though the cave, desperately he places blocks to block away the monsters in persuit, quickly he jumps into a portal, going to the nether, walking past zombie pigmen to find... HIM... the boss of the nether when those disks came out, the wither. He actually dies in the end, eluding to him respawning and doing it all over, caughing from the wither effects.

So basically in 1.20 we take flint and steel light up the portal in the ancient city and get teleported to the dark demintion of the warden remember the Minecraft official tweet "we have a dark secret" 😹😹😹
Credit to u/The_PJG who made a post about this on Reddit a few days before this video was uploaded and where this guy definitely took it from.
*”If you don’t play this at my funeral, i’m not coming.”*
In all my 9 years of playing, this is the first truly unsettling thing in the game. And I've encountered Herobrine in my worlds twice! That was scary and I haven't touched those worlds to this day lol
Herobrine isn’t real
This is so cool, it's like the stories of all three disks are incomplete in till played together.
Statement of Steve, regarding an encounter in a dark cave, statement recorded on three separate disks directly from subject.
I feel like these discs have a lot of lore to them which a lot of people dont talk about
