    Containers for plastic tanks
    Hefty 32 Qt. Storage Container (app. 8 gallons)
    Sterilite 55 Gal. Storage Container (app. 50 gallons)
    You can purchase these containers typically at any local Walmart.
    For a container that stretches from water (especially as it gets bigger) ensure metal rods underneath the rim to prevent further bulging.
    I believe that putting aquariums near the window has a lot more beneficial outcomes than drawbacks.
    Having natural sunlight promotes proper plant growth and an organic circadian rhythm for fish. Algae growth wouldn't be a problem if the tank is already established and balanced. Temperatures fluctuations may be a concern, however, if you have blinds/curtains to control that light, it's not big of a concern. Also, a background for the tank has to be absent to ensure as much sunlight as possible, so that's a drawback as well.

    Thank you so much for the feedback and criticism fellow people!. My setup has changed drastically, I am moving my goldfish outside to a 160-gallon tub now. I only now have 2 adult goldfish. I gave the babies to a person with a sufficient sized pond. I am furthermore going to try to replace my fish tanks with glass simply because I can afford it and it's more clear. I will be doing an update on this setup and follow up with this video. Again thank you so much for the feedback and stay creative!

      @@LeeDfined no one is critisizing the artistic talent, tank or setup....simply pointing out that thats WAY to many fish of those species in it. Making people look like assh**es for simply caring about animals other than humans is critisizing at its best! If that was like 4 German Shepards locked in a standard doghouse you'd be calling police for animal cruelty but because it 'JUST FISH'....f**k 'em, the plastic "tank" looks great! And the fact he doesn't know the difference between gold fish fry or hembra tetras tells me he knows nothing about how to support and care for Aquatic Life

    Hey ,
    Thankyou so much .
    I had set up my planted fish tank and had left it to cycle .
    During this time one of my friend gifted me a pair of guppies , obviously i couldn't reject it so i took them and asked my neighbour who already has a huge planted setup to keep them . He agreed too. Then i made a temporary setup (same as u have done in video but with less plants )for them and let it cycle for 2 weeks . Then took the guppies back and bought some more for them . Today they are 23 . All breeded in the container tank . Thankyou for ur idea . Thankyou soo much . 🫂

    like your set up! i got some small feeder goldfish as a present for my kid - and just at the end of the week we had to move them from 10 to 20 gal tank cause they looked crowded. Now in less then one mos i am looking to move them into something closer to 50 gal and plastic tote idea is very appealing. What to expect, how long do you think a tote full of water will last, if i reinforce it with some wire?

    • @josh_aqua_arts
      @josh_aqua_arts  3 роки тому +1

      Hey sorry for the late reply, by now you probably got it all set up and stuff. But um, wire can do. I tried several methods in reinforcing 50-gallon tubs one of them included putting a metal rod through the width of the container and using nuts to screw it in. I had a 29 gallon that was reinforced through coat hangers instead. But as of now, now that I am much more careful and can afford glass. I am trying to replace several of my plastic tanks with glass!

    • @josh_aqua_arts
      @josh_aqua_arts  3 роки тому +2

      When it's something above 15 gallons I do actually. Anything around 10ish gallons bowing isn't much of an issue. To compensate for that, I would have to add metal rods underneath the rims to prevent further bowing.

      @@josh_aqua_arts If I try it out in the near future I'll report back. I got a free tank with some guppies that turned out to be maybe 200+ fry and young juveniles. Im working on getting a second tank that I have set up now so I can start seperating the ones that are getting bigger, but I think with so many I will still be needing more room, since I have a 20 gallon high and setting up a 10 gallon. Planning to rehome the majority once they're grown, but until then it's a lot of fish. I think the bins are not only a cheaper expansion, but also would be better for my house because my floors are not very level and slightly bouncy.

    How can you tell if it is fish safe

    • @josh_aqua_arts
      @josh_aqua_arts  3 роки тому +3

      Because the containers should be food-grade safe. And if its safe for human consumption, as well as being resistant towards heat (even to boiling water) it should be definitely fine for fish. Many plastic containers have a number carved in it, indicating the type of plastic its made of.

  • @md.raselmahmud8797
    @md.raselmahmud8797 4 роки тому +2

    Is plastic container safe for fish health? And, is a plastic tank safe for fish in long term (like for 2/3 years)?Also doesn’t plastic tank breaks if overloaded? btw, nice stepup you got there. stay safe.

    • @josh_aqua_arts
      @josh_aqua_arts  4 роки тому +7

      Thanks for asking. Right now I still have them running for 4+ years, except there's a bit more tanks now. My newer ones are glass, since they look better and I can afford them. Plastic containers should be safe for fish if it's safe for food. Even outdoors. A lotta times they have a number on the container, you want to look for the number 5 or greater.
      Plastic is safer than glass in terms of breaking. You want plastic that can stretch not plastic that's rigid. If you go above 15+ gallons, you want reinforcements in the rims of the containers to prevent more bulging. The biggest see-through plastic containers are the sterilite 50 gal at the moment. If you're going that big you'll need hard to bend metal rods to put underneath.
      My family has a computer chair that bumps the goldfish tank every now and then, and the tank is fine, if it were glass though, it would've probably cracked by now since it's not flexible.
      Thanks for reading this!
