- Dedicated to Union Terminal Imports brass train models and there years of service to making fine model trains. Ed Kurzenski is a wonderful person so what a good way to honor his retirement by showing off his good work on passenger trains. Perfectly lit L.E.D in all the cars give the realism of a train with people on board. My only regret is that I didn't get those Daylight Alcos' locomotives. This is for all those Union Terminal Imports train modelers out there.

Never heard of UTI. Absolutely beautiful!
Thank you for sharing, for shooting the video, and showing a great layout!
Some of us can only dream of having one UTI 3/4 dome let alone having two in consist! All I have been able to collect from them is three baggage cars, and man are they beautiful.
Start bugging Rapido Trains to make the 3/4 dome. Canadian National bought and refurbished an SP 3/4 dome. Now they have no choice but to produce them!
@@drewzdrew27 sadly though have you looked at their rebuild? The side are so smooth and lifeless... I don't know if it be worth it to build that one, and have it so wrong for Sp paint.
@@modelrailroadexcursions987 im not asking them for rebuilt dome. Im asking for the as delivered SP fluted side, and SP smooth sided domes. They'd get Daylight, SP General Service, SP/UP COSF, and Amtrak scheme out of two toolings. They *might* be able just paint an SP smooth side in CP colors, and call it good enough (and say if we get X # orders - we will retool as need for the CP folks)
@@drewzdrew27 They will never do it unless it's a Canadian prototype. It's a running joke, but it's a correct joke. What's more likely just like with the SP police baggage dorm. Nice looks fine detail, but it won't be a SP prototype. If they do anything it will be what the CP has now, and then do Sp paint on that.
I love those 3/4s domes
Great Job Shin and a truly deserved Thank You to Ed and the gang at UTI!! They believe in passenger cars with interiors and lights! I wonder if they had a similar experience like me. Received my first Tenshodo cars in 1968 as a kid (8 years old) just a Diner and Dome. But I knew that was the standard I wanted - full color Interiors with lighting. The set came with some Tyco cars but obviously they were not up to the Tenshodo standard, being plastic with painted silhouettes in the windows. Of course these were shorty cars but the seeds were planted. I strive now to interiorize all my scale brass equipment with appropriate lighting. I'm so glad that UTI believes in operation of their scale equipment. Your train reminds me of the "Khrushchev Special" that ran from LA to Bayshore in September 1960. This train ran with two domes and an assortment of special SP equipment. One thing you might want to watch out for is your vestibule placement. In case of emergency egress there is no way for passengers to escape from the first dome through the following 7 cars (560 feet). The 7th car vestibule facing the rear. I believe the California Public Utilities Commission (PUC) had some rules in regards to passenger egress. I believe vestibuled cars were required to have their vestibule ends against the 3 unit "Lark Club" to comply with safety regulations. Of course I've seen photos of Espee Trains with 5 cars between vestibules so I don't know how closely this was monitored/enforced. Thanks again for the tribute to UTI!!
I do the SP also, but these cars far outshine mine.
Great layout there and also a great Southern Pacific train combination as well, great sounds from the locomotives.
Thank you! I try to do the SP lines proud
I wonder if Richard Kimble is on that train ?
Well done Shin and thank you for the kind words.
beautiful.
