Fenyx Rising is definitely a good game when it comes to satisfying a BOTW itch. It has over world puzzles, shrines, exploration. The writing is probably the most decisive aspect of the game though, you either enjoy it or find it absolutely cringe inducing and it has such a constant presence in the game that I can see it hampering someones enjoyment. Definitely something that could use a toggle, at least as far as non-cutscene voice overs go.
Edit: I played on Switch and don't remember any frustrating series of crashes. So that's an unfortunate downside of the PC port I suppose. I definitely recommend playing on consoles. The game opens up later, with Clashing Rocks serving as the Great Plateau of this game, and the rest of the golden isle being entirely open to explore. The combat is definitely a highlight, though as you progress you will eventually break it and trivialize it. Again, it really is about whether you can get past the writing or not, as that seems to be the game's biggest downside.

    • @pixelcount350
      @pixelcount350 Рік тому +32

The writing is meant to be a comedy. If you don't find it funny then you won't like it but for many its a highlight and for others its a hindrance.

It’s unfortunate Immortals crashed so much for you. I played it on PlayStation and LOVED it. The devs worked on Assassins Creed Odyssey and were really inspired by Breath of the Wild when it came out, hence why they made Immortals. It’s especially fun to explore once you get off that tutorial Island.

The creator's of Yonder, that was their first game and they made a second one called Grow: Song of The Evertree that isn't a huge departure from Yonder but it's definitely much more recognizable as it's own game with influence from other series being scarce. It seem with their second game they really pushed the envelope and made something pretty unique and the artstyle only got better and more unique to match it. It's a very pretty game but still isn't really meant for difficulty or combat, laid back games are their forte and I'm all for that personally. I wouldn't call Grow a BoTW Clone by any means BUT, worth a play for sure.
Upon further research, it seems that the small Studio is made up of 3 people, each previously working for big studios like Bethesda, Blizzard and SEGA. One had worked on the Batman Arkham Series and The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. Each also have over 15 year's of experience. Truthfully, considering the size of the studio and scope of the game's they've made so far...i'm actually impressed and it's no wonder the games look so good, their first one might have been a bit of a clone but it was still unique in it's own way. I hope to see them make more game's in the future and think supporting them is honestly a great idea.

I also really couldn’t deal with the stupid purple fog poison islands. The game is sort of chill, but suddenly you’re faced with areas that just made me stressed haha. The way you always have to keep on moving is frustrating to me. I’d rather want to build more of a base. And why can’t you sleep? The health and food bar aren’t good enough either. That in itself made the game so difficult that I had to turn on a cheat system where I could have no drop in hunger. I also used unlimited storage (caused slight glitches) because the amount of space needed compared to amount available was forcing you to basically drop numerous necessary items. I also used something to make my weapons not break faster than I could get more. I've heard these things are a bit typical of survival games, so perhaps the real thing is I apparently dislike survival games. But things like BotW and its Eventide Island quest was fantastic.

fyi, fenyx rising has no issues with crashing on the switch. my take on the game is: it's huge, you have to get used to the dialogue cuz it literally never stops, the battle tech is the best part of the game (and visuals, it's very pretty), and it has a pretty good final boss fight, but it lacks variation. everything is built on a few key building blocks and they just repeat those building blocks everywhere, on a massive scale. overall I enjoyed playing it to the end, but doubt I'll go back and do it over again, it's just too repetitive.

Blue Fire was a lot of fun, but some of the void levels get to be pretty tough. The increased movement options make it a great time though. Just have to remember to not get greedy with it. Or at least be careful when you do.
As for Immortals? It goes on a bit long if you do platinum like I did, but even just doing most things is a good time. And the running commentary reminds me of Portal on some level. I haven't turned on windbound, but i bought it when it was like 80% off on switch so I bought it for like a couple bucks. But after hearing a lot of online complaints of the slow pace, and how things feel arbitrary for no reason. So, I have never got to it. I'm not even sure if there really is a plot.

There is a little plot but it mostly is through murals and cryptic messages but not bad for the reduced price but I don't think it is worth full price it feels more like that game raft then it is a botw clone

Fun vid! I’ve watched Iron Pineapple’s originals, but since I’ve never played a souls-like, the game-play is mostly impenetrable to me. It’s just fun to hear him laughing. But Zelda I understand a little better, and BoTW I understand extremely well, so I can appreciate this vid a lot and really enjoyed it. I hope you do more!

Immortals is very fun. The combat is really fun and I like the breath of the wild insperation. It does it well, because although the gameplay is very similar, I never thought of it as a Zelda clone. I never minded the narrators. The puzzles can sometimes be pretty hard and there is one boss that is real hard, though I think it is not required

Blue fire was one of my favorite platforms to play. Some of the void levels were a PAIN in the ass to do, especially for the extra Lore portion (for those who know, you know) but really fun to explore and play. I also loved the little Emote as they also helped unlock certain puzzles or extra goodies (plus they were fun to use) and the many different spirit options to help you level up or get through certain bosses. I give it a 8.5/10, would recommend anyone to play :)

Immortal Fenyx Rising was made by Ubisoft Quebec Studios and yeah I agree with your opinion that the dialogue is bad but in Quebec it’s actually very good yeah it’s better in french I don’t know why they did that choice but the voice of the characters in french doesn’t have a greek accent so maybe that’s why it’s kinda not fun and yeah that’s kinda bad that you got a lot of crashed in the beginning but maybe the problem is the game cannot keep up with your recording software

I picked up Immortals Fenyx Rising for Switch a few years ago, probably on a sale, and never touched it because I loved BotW and everyone was saying that it was basically a clone. But one of my favorite things about BotW was exploring for various ingredients to completely break the early game with the cooking system, but I heard that game basically simplified it to 2 resources, one for health and one for magic or stamina or something so it has been in my backlog ever since as BotW without stuffing my pockets with hundreds of plants, bugs, and monster parts to make food and brews to take on different challenges before having the recommended equipment, while also balancing selling extras and using them to upgrade my gear (gathering parts for some of the later stages almost felt questlike, hunting down powerful foes for enough parts. The barbarian gear is powerful but requires you to hunt down Lynels to prove your worth. Getting the cores to fully upgrade the ancient armor can be a grind though, especially if you have the amiibo helms, or maybe there were more in the shrines I missed as that's where I found most of the ones I did have. I get that it is the super OP endgame gear but I didn't feel the need to fully upgrade all of the helms since it took me a couple of hours of guardian hunting to get one giant ancient core, which if I recall are a rare drop from the super beefy and resource consuming flying guardians, and possibly the major test of strength ones. Either way, getting the chest to level 4 and the boots to level 3 or 4, paired with the helmets at level 2 to get the set bonus and their respective buffs gave me more than enough armor to reduce most damage that wasn't a guardian or lynel attack to a quarter heart, but a fully upgraded set may be more necessary in Master Mode when I get to it.)
Tangent aside, I like the Greek references in the gameplay you showed. Starting out on the clashing rocks was nice since I remember doing a presentation complete with the handmade model on the scene from the odyssey where they had to sail through them in fourth grade. I also kind of like the cheesy narration. It doesn't take itself too seriously, and I like bad jokes, and it didn't seem to go full on into "lol random let's point out every video game trope as they happen" like so many games nowadays. This has convinced me to give the game a chance when I can.
Some of the other games looked neat too, but I'm a sucker for resource gathering and crafting to become more capable and reach new places. Having a game like that which borrows more from something like Zelda or an action game rather than Minecraft seems like a potentially fun combination for me.

37:07 "So this is like a tower", you do know Nintendo's towers were not an original mechanic, right? For me, Ubisoft pioneered that mechanic In the Assassin's Creed and FarCry series, long before Breath of the Wild was released, climb a large structure and reveal a region of map. Whether Ubisoft borrowed that mechanic from another game, I cannot say, just where I first experienced it.

I played Craftopia during the beta and the different environments and the sheer amount of stuff you can craft, build or collect is awesome. Sadly it lacks any noticable storyline or end goal, so if you play alone, it gets very repetitive and boring after a while. It does however shine in multiplayer mode - not because of any brilliant features, but because of the countless hilarious bugs and exploits you can find.
From cheesing your way through boss fights (like fleeing from a dragon fight in a hot air balloon) to a "breeding" machine for livestock that also works on NPCs (you read that right XD) there's not much you couldn't do.
