That is one anxious customer. The customer was burned before which adds to the anxiousness. Good, polite, competent, professional people like Steve are desperately needed to provide honest and caring service. If there were more like Steve the general population would be less anxious. This applies to all industries.

We have this "ministry" where I live; that takes ex-cons and "trains" them to work in Steve`s trade. That makes ME anxious. Guy has withdrawal symptoms because he needs a tweak while he works on your furnace. What can go wrong there?

They also said "oh, btw, we know you already forked over $550 but we changed the parts we said we were going to change already so too bad!" Guess what? CHARGEBACK.

Watching you go into a house and tackle a problem really gave me a lot of confidence that I can accomplish some of these things with a little bit of help. This past year I installed a heat pump in my garage, I am disabled so I couldnt mount the wall unit or run the lines, but once all of it was mounted I connected the control wiring, vacuumed the system down and released the refrigerant. Now my garage is comfortable all year round and more enjoyable to be in. Thanks again.

Kudos Steve. I'm exhausted listening to that poor lady. Your personality was a perfect fit for her. I have used a right-angle cordless Milwaukie drill for those service valves. Faster and less of a pain in the ass. finish it off with the service wrench. Just a suggestion brother. Great job!

Good work on fixing this lady’s issue. Normally I wouldn’t disparage another guys work but yeah I’ve never seen a contractor do such a hack job and leave it unfinished and tell the customer to hire someone else put in this piston. That’d be like me sayin hire another plumber to finish the plumbing.
I could see her being burned and anxious asking a bunch of questions and hovering around like a hawk. I know some installers would get a bit hot under the collar but you kept it professional and fixed the issue

Don't you just love the hacks out there? No license, insurance, or brains. It makes me think the person I'm working for is a cheap SOB! But I always fix the problems because like you... that's what I'm good at!!!
    Keep it up Steve!
By the way, NEC article 210.63 requires a service receptacle within 25' of the heating/ cooling equipment. The lady said she called an electrician but that person was no electrician, believe me.

Here in the New England area, basically the same area as Steve, you cannot purchase this equipment, especially the refrigerant if you are not lisenced. I have a universal refrigerant lisence meaning I can purchase any refrigerant made.
