This was a great video on so many levels, from you yelling at customer for allowing dog to piss on condenser, to you telling her the capacitor blew it's load!! Had me laughing my ass off Steve. Even the wife chuckled!! Sorry about Mr. Grinch may he RIP!!
When Steve tells the customers the capacitor is bad 90% of them just say oh OK and they have absolutely no idea what a capacitor is?
He speaks to them like they know what it is, but they just don’t, you could tell them that there’s a bad brick in the air conditioner they won’t know the difference.
Looks like the dog has been hitting that with his hose. 😂😂😂
Mr. Grinch jumped out the window from smelling the dog piss on you lol
Truck stocked full of quality capacitors, contactors and fan motors 👍.
Hello Steve and Miss Molly! Workin’ again y’all! 👍👍. Double trouble today mama! So Mr. Grinch is no more. Guess he committed Grinchicide! lol
Dog was givin’ it the ol’ how ya doin’.
that's an exceptionally funny one, full of Lavisms.
Steve should do a comedy act at some of the local bars on the side. He would do well just from the tips.
Just when things are going great, Mr Grinch commits suicide. Thanks Steven, I like when you work on the crusty stuff!
Steve one time I was servicing a TV and I was sitting behind it and a homeowner forgot me and let her rottweiler loose it came up on me sniffing me and I gave it my hat and it ran off chewed my hat all to pieces but it left me alone haha
it blew its load OMG lol Steve you rock
Another great video ! It’s crazy how loud the older systems are I remember them like that as a kid when I bought my house three years ago the guy that sold it to me flips houses so it has a new System the R-410A units are so quiet you’ll hear the initial start up then all you hear is the fan pretty amazing how quiet they are now.
I’m totally hooked to ur videos… I’m not plumer nor handyman…I just love watching u ..you are awesome..
Hilarious when you laughed at her when she said " only a couple weeks". They broke the mold when Steve Lav was made.
RIP Mr. Grinch, he was a crusty one mama.
Fantastic job. Credit to your professional service.
Mr. Grinch just realized he needs to get back to the north pole to prepare for Christmas. He has a long way to walk. Lol
Great job Steve, "a moment of silence", too funny Steve. RIP........keep the great video's coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Omg that dog!!!!
Wow dual helicopters.
Holy shit, she's a JetRanger momma! RIP Mr. Grinch.
The wasps she's talking about are cicada killers, they're huge!
Yep that is correct. I have had issues with “Cicada Killers” in the past.
Steve, she's talking about cicada killer hornets. We get'em around here too. Bigass things, but they don't sting people.
If they don't sting, why are they called "KILLER HORNETS"??!! I haven't heard of cuddle hornets just yet...
We have them here to the kill hornets and cicadas Beasley looking creature that don’t mess with people
I have an old Whirpool window A/C unit for my garage where the bottom row of fins on the coil rotted away. I used aluminum wool to patch where the fins were missing and it worked like a champ! Air flow through the coil is the same throughout. You could probably stuff some in on that condenser coil to patch it up to get a few more years out of it.
That Customer don’t stop talking 😂😂😂
Love this video and the dog pissed unit.... All the air pulling thru the condenser will try to draw at the missing corner, path of least resistence...
Best to block off with a piece of scrap metal, more are over majority of coil.. Real SHIT SHOW.
Two Capacaitos! Buy one get one free! Aint that a pisser, well the dog thought so. amazing old bests still running. Good video.
"Only a couple of weeks" LOL!
I can’t believe you didn’t turn around and get Mr. Grinch.
@@markpowell1031 yeah I seen it. He said where he lost he couldn’t just go back because it happened at an on ramp I think he said.
You’re one of a kind mr. lav 👍 love it
Great job and video like always ( Steven )
Surprisingly clean looking in that service compartment.
lol, love these videos - you just tell it as it is :)
Love the videos!!! RIP Mr. Grinch.......
I like to see your videos to get some tips,,,, but more because how you interact to your customers...... amazing.. teacher.......
Steve do you ever use a drill? I mean there faster and not so much work on your wrist. You do need to be mindful of a power drill cause you can strip screws. That’s my only thinking of why you use a hand held screwdriver
Hang in there brother , Lol,see you on the next one.
Only been making noise for two weeks ,brilliant
Mr. Green gave Mr. Grinch the ol' "How ya doing?"... =)
Tell it like it is. Good job.
Thanks for video. Have the same looking unit with the same problem. Hope I get that rusted capacitor changed before it shoots its load. Lmao. Been a good unit for past 5 seasons with no shut downs
Mud wasps !!! That's what they are, Steve! They lay eggs in the ground/muddy areas, then the eggs hatch in late June or so and July, build nest in eaves of house or dark places using dirt/wet soil for making their nest. Great video! Don't know what you can do about the dogs doing their business on the coils!
Bye-bye Mr. Grinch have a safe flight ✈️ hahaha
Nice work
RIP Mr. Grinch... The dog was pissin on the unit because that's where you work when you come. He knows you don't like him, so he goes there to tell you this is his territory.
Steve, love your vids and your 4 legged apprentice ! However I do have one issue. On that second unit that tripped the circuit breaker. You sent the customer to reset it. Bad move,Steve. what if that breaker blew up in her face. Most customers are not conscious about stepping to the side and looking away when resetting a breaker. You, would have that liability to cover. Other than that great video !
R.I.P Mr Grinch.
Great content keep cool bud
nice to see you bought some new equipment! there was alot if screen glare on yesterdays show. thanks for the entertainment. dropping alot of F bombs, lmfao
That second capacitor had a massive heart attack.
More like an exploding tummy there, that sure spilled its guts and good thing the breaker Tripped,That could sure caused a fire or Serious Trouble for sure, That cap sure was Bad, surprised the other one didn'tblow that Bad.,As its motor was Bad.And run 2 weeks like that.
Drinking game video! A drink every time your hear "dog piss"
Steve vs the hornets sound like a damn monster movie
Hornets, wasps, cicadas, hummingbirds are all the same to that lady. She ain`t no entomologist! LOL! One lady, later asks the other: "Did he say you needed a douche?" LOL!
Nice video steve
Accidentally hit the dislike button instead of like. If you get any feedback by me accidentally hitting the dislike button please ignore it. Love all of your videos man.
Awesome! Maybe a few mothballs near the unit to keep dog away?
OMG look at that brown capacitor mama!
He’s a mean one, Mr Grinch LOL
Mr Grinch now has Road Tracks... RIP.
No way... Mister Grinch took his last leap. He was green with envy of Miss Mollies' Grinch feet, and couldn't take it anymore.
When you're crossing the street do you ever yell out hey I'm walking here?
That's why i like inverter unit no capacitors go out and they have way more protection circuits in place
The dogs urine turns to ammonia, then it destroys the aluminum fins… Soon after that it will destroy the copper tubing…..
I had to replace the motor on my ac unit outside along with the capacitor. I could not get that fan off the motors shaft for anything. I used a puller and everything else in the tool box. I ended up just buying a new fan for the new motor as well after spending hours fighting it.
Wow. That one unit has taken a beating. I would just use it till it springs a leak or dies. I have seen units like this that have been pissed on for years by dogs, and most of the aluminum fins were gone, and unit still runs and kedps chugging away. Even though these are Whirlpool units, they are actually made by Nordyne and badged for Whirlpool. Nordyne is a cheap unit kind like a Goodman is.
Wondering what caused the fins to fall off that corner...
Steve didn't mention what mighta caused that, did he? L O L
Miss Molly not going to be happy that Mr Grinch bit the dust. Oh well.....
My Amana (Goodman) is 13 years old and still running great. Nice video
did you replace the insulation on the pipes? They looked cracked.
When my moms Lennox AC/furnace finally died, it was 32 years old...
shes a sneaaaaky one Mr Grinch!!!!
'
Give her the old horizontal contactor treatment mama 😲👍
poor mr Grinch. Couldn't handle the pressure. haha
Wouldn't the "heat wrench" (your torch) make quick work of breaking that rust bond on the blade?
can you post where you bought the nut driver?
I love it when the capacitor rusts all to hell and you can’t read the values. Luckily Copeland almost always puts the microfarad number on their compressors.
I think Steve bought those yellow handle channel locks early on in his career. They seem to be on every single job, LOL...
Gotta watch out for them hwonats!
I only ran it like that for a couple weeks...
RIP Mr. Grinch
I always write date on new cap and size next to it
It's either time for a new coil or a new AC
I gotta have an electrician work on my outside unit, people who installed the old unit, a Moncrief branded Nordyne with a Bristol, tapped the condenser power right off the meter, only protection is the 50A disconnect breaker, when we bought the house it was a gas n go special, condenser coil leaked like a sieve so we replaced it with a Goodman 13 SEER, not a bad unit I will say, better than the shit they made 15-20 years ago
That AC needs alot more than a clean with the garden hose lol
Poor Mr Grinch! 🙁
I was wondering how long do those capacitors typically last, and are there certain replacement brands that a better than others?
I only use Turbo 200 capacitors. They are universal. I carry 5 of those instead of a box full of random sizes
I’m with you on the mask situation, I got vaccinated so I don’t have to wear them anymore 👍
The virus hass basically a 99.7 cure if u did nothing I would never take the spike protein jab.please tell us the ingredients scamdemic flu cases almost zero where did they go
@@lpmjerry They dropped because people actually started to wash their hands and be hygienics. Having to stay inside for a long time prevented transmission of a ton of sicknesses. I never got the vaccine but always wore a mask and never got covid here in nyc. But I never took the subway and stayed away from most people. Use hand sanitizer before touching your face and eating outside and before entering your car. Wash your hands when you get home to. Basic hygiene basic all you need and a simple mask. People are disgusting and it shows if people got to read a sign to know how to wash your hands right.
But of course it would never be because they counted flu casess as the Rona virus . U would never know cause of all the false positives lol
In NY we don’t either, except in mass transit, etc. voluntary elsewhere except if proprietor demands it.
a few weeks lol she is a smart one I guess
Had a 11 year old R410a empty on arrival. Dog pissed on coil and ate through copper
You guys are complaining about 80 to 90 degrees try Arizona it's 118 degrees that's enough to do you in I'm outside all day long welding that's enough to kill ya.
Yellow jackets. Nasty, got bit by them twice, turned my leg purple where the stung me, I don't know if it's yellow jackets, but they live in the ground and they hurt bad.
Mr Grinch, RIP.. Lol
correct me if i'm wrong -- assuming the name plates are still readable, you should be able to get the voltage and capacitor info on both the motor and compressor, right? edit: when i say voltage , i mean the capacitor voltage (370 or 440 vac)
@@rogerlague1520 yes -- that's why i was careful to mention "assuming the name plates are still readable".
I run into this alot. I just grab my phone, google the model # of the condenser, and i get the info for the capacitor.
She's a grumpy one mama
Never seen capacitor mounted upside down. Usually, the terminals are on top, so it can better dissipate heat between the voided space between the oil and terminals.
@@potatolew4495 Agreed, every orientation but upside down. If the run capacitor soft spot, or terminal were to blow, you want it to blow from the top, not below where it melts components below it. It will work upside, but will shorten the life expectancy. No manufacturer mounts the run capacitor upside down.
@@jammin345 The orientation makes no difference to lifespan, caps are designed to work in any orientation. Many caps are mounted upside down, especially on fans and inducer motors. They are oriented terminals up in a condenser because it makes assembly easier and faster than having them upside down, and time is money on the assembly line.
Come on Steve he just wanted to see how ya doin
🍺👍
Stay safe.
Retired(werk'n) keyboard super tech.
Wear your safety glasses.
Steven, thats why the dog was pissing on it, he knew the fan wasn't working and it needed a douche.
