  • HOW TO DRIVE RUTA 40 ARGENTINA - NOT WHAT WE EXPECTED!
    In this video we arrive in the city of Cordoba in Argentina and hire ourselves a car to explore the famous routes in the area. We started off by heading along Ruta 40 with it’s high altitude, crazy long straight road Recta Del Tin Tin and incredible cacti filled scenery.
    After a few hours driving and exploring along the way we arrived in the small town of Cachi in the Calchaquí Valley of northwestern Argentina for lunch before jumping back on Ruta 40 where we didn’t get quite as far as we had hoped due to the crazy bumpy roads we had a slight change in plans!
    Next time!
    Join us next time for part 2 where we wake up in the middle of this other worldly landscape as we finish off Argentinas epic Ruta 40, before finally making it to Cafayate in time for lunch at a beautiful bodega and making the drive back along route 68 with all it’s famous sights along the way.

We leave TKT tips/facts in our vlogs and blogs to give information that we wish we’d had before visiting. We hope you find our content fun & useful :)

    Awesome episode in Salta, Route 40 is the longest in the country, it crosses the country from north to south, it's thousands of kilometers long, it's similar to Route 66 in the USA, greetings

    hello guys, before leaving Argentina you should visit the province of San Juan, the Ischigualasto Provincial Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known as Valle de la Luna and El Leoncito National Park, where there is an observatory that allows you to enjoy wonderful views nights and learn about the universe. It is one of the purest skies in the southern hemisphere. You can also practice Carrovelismo in the Calingasta Valley on a white plain 12 km long by 4 km wide. It is a beautiful province to visit with many activities and beautiful landscapes. Enjoy. Cheers !!!!!

    That seems like a beautiful drive to make. Great information to help others who want to do it in the future. The landscape, scenery, and wildlife is incredible there - and of course, love seeing all the puppies and dogs around. I'm with Kirsty, I love when breakfast is included, feels like such a bonus!😂

    You guys covered a variety of terrain in this episode.. from the wigglie road..to the straight road..to the bumpy one. The view from the top of the curvy one was incredible though!

    good the comment about how many days stay in a place in 15:14 is a basic tip to say always. for me Cachi is bored but is clean, nice and quiet, good for relax and do nothing. one of the trips i made a barbecue trying to go to the Mountain Nevado de Cachi but the road ended in a little river so make a barbecue there and stayed inside nature has no price. good at 16:30 stoping and filming the bird lot of condors there. when you left cachi it seemed that I was, many memories and I recognized the curves and that group of houses. thanks. now is the time of the year to go or in autumn, but in days starts the world cup. so maybe next year.

    Hey guys loving you Argentina series. Just wandering how much a day it is to hire a day. And also what sort of daily budget you think you would need for Argentina 🇦🇷

    • @TideKnotTravellers
      @TideKnotTravellers  Рік тому

      If you mean for a car then the cheapest we managed to find anywhere in Argentina was around £40 a day and that is with paying the pesos in cash using the rate from Western Union (not the official rate, would’ve been around £80-90) we did a video all about driving and car hire in Argentina. It’s hard to say a daily budget as it depends what you do and where you are, generally the North is cheaper than the South (Patagonia is pricey!)

    I really enjoy in any seconds of your video. Amazing! Just one qty...why you arrived in Cordoba as a starting point instead Salta? Thinking about the same route so there is no sense. And, have you been north of Salta ( Humahuaca), Grand Salinas...If yes, how terrible is lack of oxygene. Thk in adv

    • @TideKnotTravellers
      @TideKnotTravellers  Рік тому +1

      Thank you. We started in Buenos Aires then travelled up to Iguazu before flying all the way down South to Ushuaia and then worked our way back up the country again. We visited Cordoba and then Salta as we continued back up the country. Yes North of Salta is coming up in our next videos! The lack of oxygen was fine for the short time that we visited. Enjoy!

    Great videos and love you cover all aspects of travel. You worked hard at using the blue dollar but never said hownyou used it to book lodging. Airbnb make you pay through the app so did you find and book places paying cash upon arrival?

    • @TideKnotTravellers
      @TideKnotTravellers  7 місяців тому

      We did a combination of using Booking,com because you can book places on there to pay cash upon check in. Also in Argentina many hosts of Airbnb have ways around things, they openly suggest booking one night through the app and paying the rest in cash on arrival not good for Airbnb but it’s honestly what everyone is doing there because of the situation, it is talked about in the travel groups.

      @TideKnotTravellers  Рік тому +1

      We drove it in a regular car as shown here but we didn’t experience any rain so can’t say what that might be like but it was bumpy in places and requires patience to drive. In our opinion it’s totally worth it for the freedom!
