Sorry if I sound funny in this one, I had a wisdom tooth done earlier in the week. Also I'm British.
Bri'ish!
I'm sorry to hear that and I'm glad you're taking care of your teeth
@@platonicvulpine Sorry to hear I'm British? Yeah me too
Yeah you do sound pretty funny ngl
No, that's a pretty typical move for channels like Breitbart. I find The Good Doctor offensive, because it's spreading harmful stereotypes ("autistic boys have superpowers"), without any irony. But Tropic Thunder just made fun of Hollywood actors. Blackface was also hilarious and wonderful in Finnian's Rainbow (I won't spoil it for you, but it's a beautiful movie), and whiteface was hilarious in White Chicks. Context is important.
God I hate how smarmy the leading actor for "The Good Doctor" is in his Autism Speaks collab.
It's everything Tropic Thunder mocks actors for, and I hope he never lives it down.
doesn't he have savant syndrome in the good doctor? i think in the show his "superpower" is attributed to him being a savant rather than his ASD.
The other thing to hate Good Doctor for is how they have the character behave ignorantly and insensitively to others with his autism used as the reason, including transphobia and islamophobia.
@@Microfoot I saw that scene when doing research for this video.
What a horrible vehicle to deliver such a cheap scene of:
"Oh, you're different just like me"
Yeah, don’t apologise for it
The film is great and if it seriously offended you, you need to re-evaluate your life.
So much of conservative culture seems to revolve around making up a group of people and then getting mad at that group.
Hilariously fragile behaviour for the group that love throwing around "snowflake" accusations.
strawmanning till the day they die
I think it works as satire because it made fun of so many AWFUL tropes that Hollywood did unironically in the past that no big budget movie will do them again.
It will age poorly over time as we get further and further away from the offensive tropes it's satirizing.
Exactly. It's not a bad thing to enjoy these movies but still question them. Conservatives like to think it's one or the other, but they just fall into the same dogmatism they accuse the left of.
@@datamaleif you want to call it a comedy that makes fun of these hollywood-types then sure, but as a satire, it fails. How? Look at its audience’s reaction to it. Like I know the point of this vid is “conservatives create fake outrage that isn’t there” (w more nuance but that’s the jist) but actually, people have critiqued the movie and calling something satire doesn’t absolve a movie from doing what it’s supposedly satiating. Like no, the joke isn’t always on Ben Stiller. The punchline is often “don’t go full r--“. The insistence that the joke isn’t often against neurodivergent ppl is naive or foolish. Maybe you don’t want to believe that bc u like the movie. Let’s just not prepend that it doesn’t pedal the same beliefs it mocks it’s characters for. (Like family guy mocking Fox News & also being wildly transphobic; yes, we know who they’re mocking, that’s not the point of contention).
Yooo, it's me in the credits!
Hell yeah, thanks for supporting the channel!
Conservatives act like Old man yell at cloud meme
Clouds are more concrete than half their fears, if we're being honest.
It just feels like people really wanted to defend black face and this is just and excuse.
No person labeled "woke" is going to complain about this sort of stories, I feel it's an immensely "woke" joke.
underrated asf
Beyond the blackface and Simple Jack, I think we need to talk more about Tom Cruise's character Les Grossman considering that he's a borderline Jewish stereotype.
Tropic Thunder is a self-referential mockery of Hollywood. Les is a spot-on send up of a stereotypical Hollywood producer, and "stereotypical Hollywood producer" is about as Jewish as it gets. Two out of three of Tropic Thunder's scriptwriters are Jewish, btw (Ben Stiller and Etan Cohen).
