- In this video I am doing a cage clean for all 5 of my guinea pig herds. Most all my cages are C&C grids and one of them is a DIY shelf unit. I actually picked out my hand vacuum from watching her channel 😅 it looked like hers worked amazing. I got the wrong one I got the $60 B&D bc I liked that it had the flip up brush so it wouldn’t pull the fleece up. It works really great has a lot of power but it dies REALLY quickly. You get about 30 mins

something I have been looking into recently is getting pet safe artificial grass to put down as the play area flooring (with towels or uhaul pads underneath)! to clean it you just rinse it off with a hose / shower and let it dry in the sun. there are some great options on amazon and you can order custom sizes as well! some 'grass' would look pretty nice in the middle of all your cages & might be easier to clean? anyways, your pigs are so spoiled & loved it makes me happy
Ooooooooooo oh ok! This sounds very interesting! Have you tried it yet? You have Josh all hyped on this idea. This might be something we have to try. Wouldn't that be made of plastic? That would probably be safe for carnivores like dogs, but for herbivores like rabbits or guinea pigs they would just eat the plastic thinking it's grass :/
I have yet to look into it to know. But there are rugs made out of bamboo which is safe for pigs. I just haven’t started looking or researching just yet.
@@aardfay i’ve read about people who have used artificial turf and they usually say it depends on your piggies. most pigs will nibble on it and realize it’s not that yummy and will leave it alone after. so if you have pigs that love to chew through everything that’d be a different story! :)

I have three pigs three cows 9 chickens 5 ducks 1 cat,dog ,and fish and some more that I can’t think of off the top of my mind, but Alissa , and Sarah I find your content so helpful and it keeps me motivated to spot clean and feed everyone!
I would cry if this is the amount of cleaning I had to do for one cage. I’m so thankful my girls picked up on using the litterbox/hay bin. I spot clean only hay and pellets once a day and sometimes the occasional poop that falls out while they’re popcorning/zooming and wash their bath mats once a week. I also hear that fleece smells and couldn’t bring myself to spend $50+ on guinea dad liners that were going to eventually make my house smell too 🥴
I've used fleece for nearly 7 years and never had issues with smell if it's spot cleaned daily. But I don't use guineadad liners often so idk about those.
My fleece smells fine. I use a variety of beddings and while they all have pros and cons, the smell isn't a con for any.

Great video! I tried using just fleece blankets with uhaul under it but I found it very messy. I love using fleece liners, which I buy on Etsy. I clean mine using the motorized handheld attachment on my Dyson vacuum. It takes off almost all the hair before I have to wash them. I also pick up poop by hand too because it's the fastest! Also, have you tried ceramic bowls? My girls never flip theirs.

May I suggest these cups that clip to the cubes so the food doesn't get knocked all over the place. I got 3 and man it is sooo nice not to have food knocked all over the place.
If you get some cat/dog sized ceramic bowls it might be harder for them to tip up xxxx

I agree! Except sadly people still leave pretty nasty comments. Not sure why they feel the need to, but I’m just glad all the channels out there keep pushing forward and putting out content.💟💟💟

Your videos are very informative and very entertaining. Keep up the good work! And I don't even have any guinea pigs in our house. Us humans have been living with seven feathered family members (parrots), one of which has been with us since 1999.
It is very clear that you love your animal companions very much too. Hope more people will make the effort to actually do research such as watching videos like yours before deciding to get these adorable little fluffies.

To waste less hay since they live to nest it it u could try getting a box and out bedding in it my guineas love it
I can't believe how much your channel has grown in a year! congrats! you both put out entertaining and informational content. I save so much of hay thanks to you sharing those tips!
Mine do the same with the laying in the hay and then peee, poo in it. So I cut a small plastic storage container and put cardboard taped on the cut edges. And now they can’t really climb and lay in there but still love to eat from there.
I saw those liners on Amazon. But I get so frustrated cuz Amazon doesn’t have any liners that are for a 2x5 c&c cage. The ones on etsy are anywhere from $60-$80 each. Ouch!!
I would recommend hay bags, that is what I use for my guinea pigs and they love pulling some of the hay out into their litter bins to lay on and the rest they eat out of the bag, that way or doesn't waste very much hay

I love your videos and your pigs, wish I could have them but I'm allergic ;( I used to have them before until I started getting rashes and allergic reaction.
I am a bit more germaphobic so I wear disposable vinyl gloves and pick all of their poops up that way!
Where's your disposable gloves? Picking up poo with bare hands?
I prefer I use my hands and not create waste using gloves☺️✌🏽that and I work much faster without gloves.
We love how you create such a big home for your little ones with tons of space to play around. They are living their best lives for sure! 😍🧡
My guinea pigs do the same thing! they always flip their bowls... but then I found these other bowl things that were super shallow and ceramic so they were too heavy to flip but also big enough so they can eat their food... something to try out

I have heavy food pots, I bought thrift shop lasagne dishes for the herd and they don't get tipped up! Heavy bowls are good and they don't get chewed! Hi! Thank you for your support! Guinea pigs are far from easy. They require way more work than dogs and cats. I talk about bonding with your pigs in a few videos. I recommend a critter cuddler and giving them treats while you’re cuddling. Guinea pigs will rarely ever get accustomed to the act of being picked up.
As for your dog I would just make sure he can never get in the room where your Guiana pigs are unattended. I have a dog with a very high prey drive and it’s very important to make she they can never get to the piggies. 🐹🌈💜

Whenever I try to spot clean my piggies cage, the brush I'm using ALWAYS pulls the blanket and so I just go in with a plastic spoon and container and INDIVIDUALLY pick up the poo. It's a workout lol

I use fine cut straw bedding what is really soft and have hayrecks. They nest in the straw so don't waste their hay anymore
What I do for my Guinea pigs “litter box” is my parents got a new shredder recently and they shred a lot of paper so I use that and then I shred construction paper to make it soft and then I make a pile of hay in the corner but I use a hay rack now she doesn’t mind she likes either lol I would recommend paper shredding for bedding.

I have had a lot of quiena pigs in the past and my oldest died last her so now I have a long haired quiena pig named Lucy after luciella ball bc of her hair

I use the bissel handheld pet vacuum (it’s green or purple) from amazon and I just don’t put the attachment on it 😂 it sucks up the poop so well that way!!

Love you and you pigggsss! Alsoooo my pigs always knocked over their bowls too. I bout these bowls from pet smart that you screw in to the cage. These are better then the ones from pet co because you can take the bowl out with out having to in screw the whole thing. You’d have to cut a part in your coroplast sheet to make it low enough but I lovvvve them. There called “all living things plastic crock” online.
