My favorite sandwich of all time is a Monte Cristo! I must say though, I need shaved ham in mine along with the turkey and cheese, plus deep fried in the "french toast" batter and served with powdered sugar on top and raspberry preserves on the side.

I'd love to see your spin on the Reuben sandwich. Granted, the flavors aren't for everyone and corned beef can be difficult to find in my local grocery stores without a special order, but I love the flavor combination.

When making this make sure you are using a large enough fry pan to easily fit two sandwiches as I made the mistake of trying to fit two side by side in a pan nowhere near large enough and spoiled the cooking and presentation as well as making it overly difficult to turn them. Best check bread fits easily before assembling the sandwiches 😊

Interesting & easy take on this classic. In CA our Monte Cristos are dipped in an egg batter & deep fried, then dusted with powdered sugar before serving. Absolute heaven & my fave sandwich!

I made this for lunch today. I used what I had in the refrigerator. Instead of gouda, I used sharp chedder and added thinly sliced red onion and fresh jalapeno. Everything else I did as the recipe called for. Oh I only made 1 sandwich for myself, so only used 2 eggs. Came out delicious I didn't want it to end. This is going onto my favorite sandwich list. The Monte Cristo is one of my favorites. In the south we dust the finished product with powdered sugar and dip them in a raspberry jam . So good !
