There was once a dream that was Rome. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile. - Marcus Aurelius
Gladiator is one of my favorite movies as a young historian and “Now We Are Free” is an emotional roller coaster every time I hear it. I can feel Maximus close to death walking through the wheat to be with his family, commanding his second to help lead the nation. It’s such an ethereal song and I love your rendition of it!!❤️❤️
What’s happening is that the music transcends space and time the moment we hear it. When we all hear this song we all think and see the same thing, Maximus close to death walking through the field to be with his family. Ask yourself how is that possible.? The music triggers our brains in a way that remind us of whatever’s the music is linked to.
Actually anything er do in life echoes in eternity. Just the fact you are alive echoed in somebody’s life: your parents, your siblings, your neighbors, your friends, your children, your colleagues, random people you met on your way to work, on holidays, ...
Oh my gosh this made me cry, it was my Russian grandmother’s favorite movie. An it became mine... I remember watching this movie with her as a child before she died. Thank you for this, absolutely beautiful voice an gift from God
Yeah, can't go wrong with Zimmer in a Treppenhaus :D On a more serious note, everyone mentions Hans Zimmer, and simply forgets Lisa Gerard. Zimmer did not come up with this alone, AFAIK. Lisa was not just vocal support.
How is it that you are the only person alive that can consistently make my hairs stand up on end whenever you sing? Also, your song choices are consistently excellent too! If ever possible, I would love if you could upload your vocals in the stairwell to Spotify... You'd definitely be my most listened to artist!
Worked outside in the 7° Ohio winter all day (industrial electrician) and realized I had listened to Lauren singing basically nonstop. Eventually my buddy pointed out that it was time to go home. Mentally, I had been sitting in that stairwell all day... Just listening away 😌
Damnit. As soon as you started singing, my eyes started tearing up. I can't even describe how beautiful that was. Simply breathtaking! You never cease to amaze me. Keep doing what you do!
I watched this movie with my dad for the first time today. It’s fantastic, and made me cry at the end, I love the bitter sweetness of it. And yes listening to this song gets me in the feels again.
I would say that this music is probably in the top 5 most emotionally impactful pieces of music that I have ever heard and you sing it beautifully! I remember watching this in 2002 in South Korea, feeling very lonely, being away from friends and family. And, let me tell you, it rained that day! lol.
If Legolas were to hear this, he probably would have said ""That, I guess, is the language of the Gladiator, for it is like to this land itself; rich and rolling in part, and else hard and stern as the mountains. But I cannot guess what it means, save that it is laden with the sadness of Mortal Men."
This is one of the best movie soundtracks ever. This is what makes Gladiator one of the best movies as well... I always cry. Your voice is everything. Wow.
The name of the song is ‘Elysium’. It’s used because Elysium was the Roman afterlife. Hence why when you watch the movie you see Maximus walking through his home fields, direct symbolism of the fields of Elysium.
This is, and has been my #1 favorite movie, not only just for the movie, but the soundtrack was everything. It was the first movie soundtrack I bought, and started my love of paying close attention to the music of movies and tv shows. So now, over half of my love of cinema is the music. Thank you for this, you did wonderful
What you said is so timely. Just this week I sent another version of this song to my 23 yo daughter and asked her to listen to it. And I told her that my eyes automatically leak every time I hear this song. She loved it. It is very special song and you really did it justice. Well done!
Omg you did not just ... 🤩🤩🤩 I’ve been subscribed for a while but never commented. This is my number one most listened to song on every playlist I have. It’s like a part of my soul or something. I realized it when I was studying Kanji (Japanese writing) and I was suddenly retaining everything while listening to this song on repeat.
Beautiful as always! i would hope her voice welcomes me to Elysium. Suggestions - 1) Fievel Goes West - Dreams To Dream 2) Land Before Time - If We Hold On Together 3) American Tale - Somewhere Out There
Will always be my favorite movie and I cry everytime I hear this song without fail. It is the epitome of bittersweet and letting go to me. Thank you for covering this, with all my heart.
Which cover did you use? I thought some of her more siren-y singing (or maybe multiple ones layered) would be great for a harpy or siren encounter. "Suddenly you all hear... (presses play) this sound. And I need - yep, you're all in range - I need everyone to make a Wisdom saving throw."
Hey there! =D I used Isabella's lullaby! Two of my players had watched the anime, so it felt more personal. The mermaid was down a cave so the reverberation worked well too! I followed up with this mix : ua-cam.com/video/ubZhS-0l4wk/v-deo.html ! Jolly sailor bold is also a cool one. I really love the idea of making it with a harpy, you should definetely go for it! *_*
Houses of Healing, Theoden King feat The Funeral of Theodred, Long Ways to Go Yet feat Gollum's song and The Grace of Undomiel. I left the Sacrifice of Faramir feat The Edge of Night since I think she's done that one.
You sang so good that even it gave me goosebumps and gave me back those good memories from Gladiator. Now we are free................................... 💀🏹🗡⚔🔪😞
Can you PLEASE do “My Lagan Love” from Titanic: Blood and Steel?!?! The haunting beauty of the song is perfect for your range and you would do such a wonderful job with it!!! 💙
So long as Lagan is pronounced properly! We'd such a laugh at the poor American flight attendant when she tried to tell the passengers about the River Lah-GEHNN on our way home to N. Ireland from New York...poor dear! Although the English don't do much better....Omagh....Donegal....Tyrone ....even the emphasis in Belfast! It's BEL-fast not Bel-FAWHHHST 😂 but we can forgive Ahoghill, Augher and maybe Rathfriland 😂😂

I seriously can't even comprehend how good this sounds
I adore Lisa Gerard in pretty much every song I've ever heard her in, and this song is at the top of my favorites
I can't help, but think of Maximus and his home at the end of the field.

Omg yes.. have you heard about Jonna Jinton. She is another Disney princess from forests of sweden. Check her out.
_you're an actual siren and you're simply PHENOMENAL. The best cover of gladiator I've heard._
Fun fact: The language the song is sung does not exist. It was made up by Lisa Gerrard
yet weirdly it sounds like it could be some kind of early european langauge or an african language
