TRUE ROBYN STORY: I roomed with Robin in rehab in the mid 90’s. I didn’t know who he was at first when I arrived and was shown to my room. I just saw this very large man occupying one of the beds. At the time I was was feeling nervous about trying to quit hard drugs, and very self conscious because I was bloated from years of drug use. But as soon as I walked in the room Robyn looked at me smiling and said, “I thought junkies are supposed to be skinny? What happened to us?” It really broke the ice and made me feel better. We had numerous late night talks during my stay. It was during one of those talks that Robyn teared up and confided in me that he had advanced AIDS. He didn’t know if he’d be able to stay clean knowing that he was dying from this aweful disease (there wasn’t the drugs/treatments that made AIDS livable and not a death sentence that came a number of years later). I told him how sorry I was. He then asked me a question that I’ve never forgotten. He asked if I’d be able to stay clean if I knew I was dying from AIDS. I didn’t want to bullshit him and I told him the truth. That I didn’t know if I’d be able to stay clean either. That it would be hard…. After I’d left the rehab I came back a few times to visit Robyn. The last time he wasn’t in our room. A nurse told me he had been moved to the main hospital next door due to complications. I walked over there to see him with my first wife at the time. Robyn was very happy to see us, and said it’d been a long time since a pretty girl came to see him.. Sadly, he told me that none of his bandmates had come to visit him. Robyn died a few months later and I actually had the unpleasant experience of having dinner with the self absorbed Bobby Blotzer after Robyn’s death because he was a good friend of a mutual aquaintance. During a long and boring dinner having to put up with Bobby talking about himself he mentioned Robyn. I told Bobby I had roomed with Robyn in rehab and told him about the conversation we had. After I finished Bobby scowled at me and said, “Great dude. You’re fuckin telling my guitar player to keep using heroin!” Bobby being a completely shallow minded narcisist missed tje brevity and empathy of my conversation with Robyn. I looked Bobby dead in the eye and said, “I told Robyn the truth from my heart. And if you cared so much about him then maybe you could’ve fuckin visited him even once.” TRUE STORY
Powerful and interesting story. I'm happy that you seem to be ok and also that you laid the truth out to BB directly 'cause he's obviously 'hard of hearing'.
Thank you for telling this story. And I believe every word of it. I've heard Robbin's interviews from when he was in hospice and was basically dying. Robbin was brutally honest, sincere, and heartfelt in those interviews. And he was dying, for God's sake. He had no reason to lie-- about anything. I've been on this earth a long time and I know when I'm hearing the truth. And Robbin was telling the truth when he said his bandmates never came to visit him when he was in hospice and was dying. (He did say he saw Stephen once, maybe twice, for lunch at some point) Robbin felt all alone and felt like he was forgotten. I think it's very sad. And his band mates and so-called friends should be ashamed of themselves. I mean, the guy was dying. Could they not set their own lives aside now and then to go visit a friend and make that person a priority-?!? It's terrible. People can be so selfish sometimes. (I know-- I've experienced something similar in my own life) I'm quite sure that Robbin's former girlfriend, Tawny Kitaen, visited him right up until the end. Which speaks volumes about her. Again, thank you for sharing your story. I'm sure Robbin would be happy that you remember him so fondly and I think he'd be happy that you shared this story. You sharing this also confirms that what Robbin said in his interviews about the band mates not visiting etc is true. How tragic that Robbin had to leave us. He was such a talented musician and terrific song writer, too. And a kind and decent human being who wore his heart on his sleeve. The saying "only the good die young" comes to mind. (Oh, and BB sounds like a jackass) Rest in Peace, Robbin and Tawny. They're together....once again.
XOXO. Bobby once did an Infomercial for my band years ago. Never met him, just saw the cheesy infomercials… Was stupid like a pathetic MONSTER TRUCK commercial. Anyways ….. SAD.
In my opinion they didn't care none of them so called friends in the industry or his band mates...I called Steven P.out on his Facebook post where he acted like he cared and was there for him and he committed back that I didn't know anything about it and I told him Robin made it very clear in some of his last interviews that none of you where there he never responded back that let me know everything... they'll try to ack like they where there for him to look like the nice guy but I call bullshit...
Robbin was an awesome human being and was a huge cheerleader for Poison being on the Ratt/Poison tour early on in our career. If it wasn't for that tour, we may have never gotten more support from our record company. Robbin was huge part of that. God rest his soul. Loved that guy!
I'm a 20 yrs. clean heroin addict and can relate to absolutely everything he's said... I used intravenously with a girl who was HIV positive. There is no good reason I didn't end up like him... The gratitude I have for getting out is immeasurable... I'm one of very few who has...
Bro I was an functional inroveiniuous morphine addict for 15 years ended up with b hep-c tòk the cure but did damage to my liver and other organs but still kicking been clean 31 years by grace if God
I'm clean 3 years ! Congratulations on getting off the dope! It always hurts to hear about Robbin Crosby bc its always the good guys as they say! He was a rock star without the spent many years working as a roadie and helping set up stages! Many rockers get rich and forger where they came from! Robbin NEVER did that! Rest well Robbin! #riprobbincrosby
Congratulations! I was a very heavy opiate user which is pretty much the same and it is a terrible thing to go through. I had to use Suboxone which is trading one addiction for another one but it's a lot safer and works if you really want to get off the drugs. Anyway for real, congratulations I know the struggle.
I was a sophomore in HS (late 1976 or early ‘77) when I walked into the Guitar Trader in San Diego to buy the first electric guitar I paid for with my own money. Robbin worked there and showed me several guitars including a Washburn “Falcon” which I decided on. I was just learning to play at this point however Robbin was very unselfish with his time and made a real effort to help me make an informed decision. I won’t ever forget that he was kind and unpretentious. Drugs are evil and all to often take no prisoners. R.I.P. Robbin.
He seems to be a really genuine kind of guy from what I can tell through video...apparently he set up some sort of college trust for one of his relatives early on...before any of his challenges started up!
Im clean 3 years heroin ate up 38 years of my life! I was warned when i was sniffing, never use the needle! And like its stated here when Robbin said" I thought i wouldnt be the one" So did i but in hindsight, heroin broke me!" I was homeless, violently abused as a child, dragged all over the foster system but in the end it was ME it was always me , bc im the end i stuck the spike in my vein! Thanks to those who helped me get clean! Rest well Robbin! Thanks for the music!
Sometimes, it's not easy wanting to help someone in the grips of addiction. You don't know. Is the money going to help that person kick the habit, or is it feeding the addiction? I've been on both ends. I understand his position feeling like no one wants to help him but also understanding how his band mates felt betrayed by his lies. You can't knock either side. It's a no-win scenario.
You are absolutely right about You not knowing anything about Addiction…You have to set up boundaries or let them go, until they either get and stay Sober, or going to their Funeral. One of Many Examples, the addict scones to you because they are hungry, you take them a buy their meal and sit with them, by giving them good advice, not condemnation. They/ We already feel like failures, pain/trauma that they basically cannot bore have the coping skills, just knowing these drugs make you feel better and numb…It is NOT an excuse for using, but that is how we knew how to deal with it. After 8 years of being systematically trafficked by my Father, and everything I did to take myself out of this world, it was when I got tired, and made the best decision of my Life! 12 years clean, hard, intensive therapy along with mental health issues I DID IT!!! If I can, Anyone can! God Bless us All, especially to those in active addiction.💯💐♥️✝️🙏
All of his Band mates NEVER ONCE gave a shyt about him, let alone visit him…Tawny was the ONLY one there for him up to his passing. Nothing was ever mentioned about Bobby’s Alcoholism which caused just as much as Robyns. The worst was Stephen, the frontman that now sounds like a dying cat in a fight of 3 on 1… He would leave Robyn disgusting messages, that made that Man cry. Only Tawny was there when he took his final breath. Finally Karma is coming full force at them…I am surprised he did not add the horrific messages from Pearcy, and a few from Bobby as well. Rest Well my Gentle Giant. I will NEVER forget that Rose which I froze, and still have the first time we met.💐🎸🎤🎧💿💿💿💯♥️
When I was 19 I met Robbin after a show in Cincinnati. At the time I had just finished my first season as a professional baseball player and that was the main thing he wanted to talk about. He said he'd been a good ballplayer and I believed him . He was a big strong looking guy and it was obvious from talking to him this he knew the game. He was tired and he didn't seem very happy playing clubs. I think he left the band less than a year later
@goobyplzz6751 that year I played for the AA Nashville Sounds in the Reds organization. It was a happy time in my life. Not getting paid much but I had the chance to do something very few people get to do , travel the country getting paid for playing baseball.
@@goobyplzz6751 I would have loved to make a career out of baseball but it is very hard to compete at the pro level. Some of those kids were the most skilled individuals I have ever met. Watching Johnny Bench throw a baseball was something I will never forget. He was long retired and still threw better than I could lol
Robbin also had a baseball scholarship that he turned down when he graduated from high school, he wanted to concentrate on his music. It’s tragic what happened to him. I really don’t think Tawny ever got over his death.
A cautionary tale about the “Rock Star” and his band, ego, and addiction! We have heard it SO MANY times but this was different because he was my “Guitar Hero” and I EVEN got to meet him once backstage in Biloxi, Ms.! I had MAD respect for him till his last day!#Ratt&Roll#🎸🔥🤘🏻👑”KING”🐀
Robbin Crosby's music, specifically, Round and Round, was definitely one of the gateway songs into metal for me. It sounded so dangerous and I had to get into it.
So sad 😢 The early days of Ratt were great. Robbin was a big part of that. It's really beyond words, how sad it is that he fell from the top of the world to his grave.
The man behind the creation of the JACKSON KING V. ROBBIN " KING" CROSBY. Pretty awesome in my book, never mind that he created the first rock music that made me love Rock N roll. Or rather Ratt n Roll. I remember the VH1 behind the music featuring Robbin, it was terrible how he was ghosted prior to his death.
I remember the first time I saw "Round and Round" on MYV at my aunt and uncle's house. That mf LOOKED like a rock star, and his attitude (the wrist flip on the up beat) said it was real. Him abd Warren were the first band that caught My attention for their separate guitar parts. F'n amazing and influences me to this day as all 2 guitar bands play the exact same thing.
I Met him in a small club in Sacramento in 1995 when he was touring with Bobby Blotzer and actually had a drink with him and talked to him for a while. I just remember he was a really cool nice guy, easy going and easy to talk to, while Bobby Blotzer was nothing but a total stuck-up arrogant jerk.
And what to you form that statement on, other than the words of Robin Crosby? Addicts are notorious for lying when in the grasp of addiction. He couldn't function in the band, so he was sidelined. You can't blame the band for that. However, there is a lot more proof out there that certain Ratt members tried being there for him than there is of all of them abandoning him altogether. Did they give him money? Likely not- why would they when they knew where it would probably go.
@@TheREALJosephTurner It’s not about money. They abandoned him, even though he was very sick and staying at the hospital alone. That kinda thing hurts so bad, but only the ones who have experienced it, can truly understand it. It’s a soul crushing thing.
I've listened to a few interviews that Robbin gave when he was living in hospice full-time and he was basically dying and didn't have alot of time left. Robbin was brutally honest about EVERYTHING in these interviews-- including the sad details of his addiction. His words rang true to me. He said nothing in the interviews that sounded like he wasn't telling the truth. And, let's face it, the guy was dying. He had no reason to lie...about anything. He was speaking from the heart. He was honest, sincere, and heartfelt and his words were quite heartbreaking. In one interview in particular, it was obvious that he just didn't want to be forgotten after he was gone. And he wanted to be remembered for being a kind and decent human and for all his contributions to RATT and the music industry. He didn't want to be remembered as only an addict and he didn't want to be pitied, either. I think what hurt him the most was his ex band members/colleagues not visiting him when he was in hospice care. And I believe what he said. I don't think they visited. And it hurt him. Just as it would've hurt me....and most people. Robbin felt like they forgot all about him. And it's my opinion that, for the most part, they did. (He said he had lunch with Stephen once, maybe twice) I, for one, would hope that my friends would visit me if I was in hospice and was dying, for God's sake. But people can be selfish, as I've learned in my own life, and they move on with their own life and don't make others a priority. It's very sad but it happens. During the interviews, it sounded to me that--more than anyone--it was being forgotten about by Stephen that bothered him and hurt him the most. Robbin and Stephen went way way back to the 1970's and their days in San Diego--before they decided to move to LA in 1980 and try to make it big. They had a long-standing friendship as well as a working relationship. They were close for many many years and I could tell that Robbin was hurt by Stephen 'forgetting' about him. And the other band members, too. I think it's very sad. People can be selfish. If they don't want to give/loan money-- well, that's one thing. But to not stay in touch and not visit -- especially when the person is in HOSPICE -- that's just plain selfish and not very nice. ~ Robbin was a supremely talented guitarist and musician as well as a terrific song writer. Stephen Pearcy said in an interview that Robbin was the leader and the heart of the band. I believe him. I also can tell by Robbin's interviews that he was a kind person and a sensitive person who wore his heart on his sleeve. He was one of the good guys. Unfortunately, he got caught up in the excesses of the industry--as so many do--and he paid the ultimate price for it. Seems like a heavy price to pay to me. Robbin has been gone over 20 years now and he is remembered by his fans as an extraordinarily talented musician and song writer....and also as a kind and decent person. I think he'd be happy that he is remembered this way. How sad and tragic that he had to leave....and at the young age of 42. The saying "only the good die young" comes to mind. (Almost forgot-- his former girlfriend Tawny Kitaen visited Robbin right up until the end. That speaks volumes about her. Rest in Peace Robbin and Tawny. They're together-- once again.) *I know I went very long here, but thanks for reading all this....if you did. @@TheREALJosephTurner
B. It is a crushing and heartbreaking blow to lose a family member to a heroine overdose . It happened to my family 9yrs ago with the death of nephew. You just can't believe they're gone sometimes. I never knew much about Robin Crosby, but after watching this very, very sad how his life ended.
11:50 - Robbin Crosby literally sounds loaded in that interview. He’s complaining that no one in the band wanted contact with him, and that no one would even loan him $20 dollars. For those who have never seen heroin addiction, or other addictions pertaining to hard drugs, you can’t loan them $20 dollars. .. Today it’s $20 dollars, by the end of the week its another $20 dollars, and before you know it, they’re asking for $200 dollars. And where do you think, the money is going to? Right back into his arms which means if he overdoses, now everyone is going to blame you for giving him the money. It's not about friendship. Past friendship issues don’t stop the damage that a junkie can do to you. Even drug councilors will tell you this. You have to get the junkies out of your life. I inclined to believe that the record labels, their managers and their attorneys told the whole band to stay out of Robbin’s problems until he is 100% clean and sober. By the way Robbin sounds in that interview, he sounds like he’s still using. Let this be a warning to everyone thinking about trying any of those hard drugs. Once you become a junkie, you will lose everything and everyone.
I believe one of the mgmt or the label or possibly band members were just fine with watching his decline. Instead of rallying around him and trying an intervention they did zero to help. Maybe by the third release they were just ready for a break. He had rock goddess looks, talent, and a generous off stage personality to his fans. Yeah prolly the more popular bandmember. I’d even bet he got laid more than the rest which had to hurt a delicate ego. The music industry only support who they can control. They use dope as a tool to help do that. They prey on artists that are weak and sensitive but have enough appeal to sell records. Witnessed this first hand. Rest In paradise Robbin you won they can’t hurt you any more
its so sad.....we lost robin at such a young age....dam drugs.... i grew up with robin in la jolla ,, i used to see him playing with his bands all over la jolla in mansions, the beach etc.... see him at the coffee shops etc. larger than life.... always cool.... i knew they would become famous musicians because of how perfect they sounded.... it saddens my heart how he went from the king to dying alone in some shack in l.a. .....breaks my heart...... may God bless you Robin Crosby......💜🌺 roy stockton
I was a RATT fan from the start. I had the EP and saw them open for Ozzy on their first stadium tour. The 80's were party time and we all thought we were invincible. Turned out we weren't. RATT is about to release the 40th Anniversary version of Out Of The Cellar and I for one hope it goes back in the charts. One last ride for the King! ❤
Lord, I remember when that VH1 interview played for the first time. It was the first time I’d heard Robin mentioned since the early 90s and had no idea what had happened to him. You think these guys will retire millionaires with a wife like Tawny but rarely did that happen I guess. After the episode, I just remember saying to myself to never touch heroin because if it brought Robbin down it would definitely do that to me. RIP Robbin ❤
Pearcy was one of the biggest a-holes I ever met (and this was when they were just beginning to break), and over the years, I have never seen, heard, or read of ANYTHING to change that opinion.
Robyn was so talented and handsome, God had given him everything to have a great life and success, but addiction kills so many people. I wish he was still around Rockin the world ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤RIP❤
B. And I dealt with opioid addiction before. Mine was because of an injury and several surgeries that left me debilitated. When a person is in the throws of an opioid addiction it's a 100% chance that the money you give them is going to be spent on dope. It's sad and unfortunate. But when you give a junky money you're enabling them.
I'm guessing they didn't help him with "money" because they knew he'd buy drugs, maybe they didn't want to contribute to his serious drug use. If Robbin asked for help to get clean I'm sure they'd help him. Drugs and Alcohol can be a dangerous thing. RIP to a very talented guitarist! Ratt-N-Roll 4-Ever!!
Robbin built and carried Ratt to the top, he kept propelling it forward, and when it all began taking its toll on him with the booze, and the drugs to keep going, and on and on... instead of being there to help their bandmate, their friend, the pillar the band was built on - they tossed him out like a cigarette butt out the window of a moving car, abandoned by those he should have been able to trust and turn to. He'd been dead for several years before even Juan (and still pretty much only Juan) came out and said he regretted how it went, and how Robbin was mistreated by his "friends". The remaining members of Ratt fully deserve the decline in sales, popularity, and fortune that have followed since. It was his songwriting, his guitar playing, his staging and presentation, coupled with a driving ambition and dedication in all areas of being in a band that made Ratt happen. No King Crosby = no Ratt. Bar none, Robbin was one of the nicest, gentlest, and warmest guys I have ever had the pleasure to meet, and treated the fans like gold everywhere he went.
Saw Ratt many times . Never forget the first time I saw them ,they opened up for Billy Squier in 84 ! I miss my youth being young and stupid and the USA was in a better place
I can understand not giving a junkie cash money ( been there), but I would bring food, stuff to comfort him like herb, teas…something to show love and concern. It is pretty shitty that they didn’t step up.
He had residual checks constantly coming in for writing some of the biggest hits of the 80’s. No reason to need to borrow $100 from ANY member of the band except to buy more drugs. I don’t blame anyone in RATT for not wanting to give him money. Sad.
Yeah,, I was listening and just knew he was going into victim mentality, Couldn' tell it straight because he wasn't straight enough to remember. Plus hearing him talk he was lit off his ass, maybe just alcohol, but still. He probably never really got away from it all. Back in the 70's, I knew of plenty of people that did drugs, same as him, and they left it and just walked away.
His ex bandmates couldn't even make a phone call just to see how he was doin, that's awful man, truly awful and they couln't throw him a bone or two. WOW. 😢 😢
I knew Robin for a short time when he moved to El paso Texas. We hung out for a bit eventhou he struggled to get into my smalll car. Sadly I had to cut ties with him when he started asking me for money n rides to houses in scary part of town which I’m sure was for drugs. Wish he would have been able to overcome his demons
KING was and is still a big influence on me as a musician, Warren as well. Together they wove some of the coolest 80's musical tapestries to ever exist. I have a lot of sympathy for him; however, I know how hard it is to deal with an addict. You love them with everything you have, and it hurts to see them go down the darkest of paths. They "mooch" off of you because they HAVE to, they hit you up for money because they HAVE to, they NEED that fix. It's very hard not to help them because you don't want to contribute to their self-destruction. I have known MANY addicts in my life, I have been related to many of them and it's so horrible to see them do that to themselves. You feel like a jerk because you don't give them money but at the same time you love them so much that you want to help them. I am almost certain that the Ratt guys feel the same way. I used to belong to a forum that was dedicated to his legacy after he died. A couple of people in that forum that knew the Ratt guys personally stated that Warren and a couple of others have a hard time speaking about him because they become overwhelmed with emotions. I would love to talk with Warren about the happy times he had with King. Where they were when they wrote certain songs, happy memories while recording certain tracks, etc. We'll never forget you KING, rock on in your next life!
Quitting heroin is the easiest thing in the world, I've done dozens of times throughout the years of active addiction. STAYING quit is the hard part. But anything that worthwhile usually doesn't come easy. RIP Robbin Crosby and thank you for sharing your music with us m
This is beyond sad and pathetic! His band mates definitely betrayed him and as a fan of the band, I have major anger towards Warren, Stephen, Juan and Bobby. This is the second time I have seen this and I just had to comment. I know Robin mentioned nobody should feel sorry for him because he has lived the life of 10,00 men, but you know what, I feel so badly for him that's just me. RIP Robin.
I'm not surprised because i already knew about this from years ago and shame on every one of them! Because of Robbin's addiction, he gave up his place as a lead guitarist to Warren and not because Warren was a guitar god and Robbin a sidekick like a lot of people thought. A person makes their own choices and dealing with an addict is hell for those around them! I was an alcoholic and caused so much pain to my family, but there is no excuse to not stand by your "friend", if they ever considered him one! Such a sad story!, I love Robbin and we should remember him like he would have wanted us to, as kick ass guitar player that he was and all the awesome music he created. Ratt seized to exist after Robbin!!!!! But My hat off to the awesome job Carlos Cavazo did during his time in Ratt and the very good record they did together. Sadly the 3 divas in Ratt could not control their egos!!!!
The more I learn about the music business, the more I do not want people to know who I am. It seems everybody who's invited to the party are nowhere to be found when the bill comes. R.I.P. Robbin Crosby, brother in sound.
I remember him and Nikki Sixx jetting off to remote places to get messed up! Thank God at least Nikki was able to kick the habit before it killed him! But so many others like Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison and Cobain also died from the devil drug!
Kind of A & B. When I read Stephen's book, I was under the impression that he was so heartbroken that he would have done anything for anyone who was seemingly his best friend. In Stephen's defense, he was eventually struggling with the same heroin addiction a little later on. But still... to completely abandon someone you spent so much of your life with is unfathomable to me. At the same time, though, I've seen or heard in the news about this rock star battling the law, disease or other illnesses, addiction, etc. The band they toured, partied with and rocked the world with were radio silent and nowhere around. It's so sad. R.I.P. Robbin "King" Crosby.
@@Gen_X_Rosey a huge part of the 80s music scene were using heroin. The more famous a band was the more the habit was hidden. I went out on two dates with lead singer (no names please) and would have never guessed until I saw track marks in his toes. Sometimes when one member gets strung out beyond their control the others will not step in to offer help bc that would mean the party is over for the ppl trying to help as well. Just another nasty filthy hollyweird secret. Gross and disgusting
It takes very strong friends and family to stick it out with a recovering addict. I had a step brother who was a recovering addict and it was easier to let them go than to fight for them especially after repeated let downs, lies, cheating, failed rehab etc etc . Just as tough for the non addicts in their lives as it is for the addict themselves.
Bobby Blotz here. We gave him YEARS of unwavering support and $$$ Yes , If he wanted a hundred , It went to his dealer . We love, appreciate, and miss our brother ❤
@@BobbyB-cs5ym Ok-- I'm taking the issue of money out of this. For me, this isn't a money issue. It's about visiting a friend and ex-bandmate when they are in hospice and when they're dying and have a very limited amount of time on this earth. It's about not being selfish. It's about being thoughtful and kind and emotionally supportive to a friend who is going through such a difficult time and facing certain death! Question: how many times did YOU, yourself, visit Robbin when he was in hospice for such a long time??? I have a feeling the answer is that you didn't visit at all !! I believe what Robbin said in his interviews that his RATT band mates (and that means YOU!) never visited him when he spent long, lonely days, weeks, and years in hospice. Everything he said in his interviews came across as completely honest and forthright. And let's face it-- he was dying. He had absolutely no reason to lie....about anything! I found Robbin to be very honest and credible. I believe him when he said that you and the other members of RATT never visited him while he was in hospice. And I think it's terrible. Terrible. And very selfish and mean of all if you. So don't be leaving messages on here trying to make it look like you were there for him when you were NOT !! I don't believe you. And I've been around a looong time. I know when I'm hearing the truth vs when I'm not! You guys treating Robbin with such callous disregard-- when he was at the lowest point in his life-- is SHAMEFUL. Period. And I don't know if you ever gave Robbin any money or not but Robbin said in his interviews that you guys were NOT giving him money. (He stated that Stephen P gave him about $100 bucks once) Again, I believe Robbin. I don't think he's lying. In the message you left here, you just stated that if Robbin wanted money, it went to his dealer. So just by saying that-- it would be very unlikely that you would be giving him money since you felt it would just go to the dealer anyway. I don't think you were giving him money at all. I call bullshit on this. I wasn't born yesterday. And your comment that you gave Robbin YEARS of unwavering support is a bunch of BS. So just STOP. Oh, so you miss your "brother" do you?? What a joke. Should've thought of that when you guys all moved on with your lives and were ignoring Robbin while he was in hospice--DYING--for years. Don't try to re-write history now. The facts stand the way they are. So you can live with it. And something tells me that you're having no trouble living with it. I don't think you're the least bit bothered or guilt-ridden about your selfish, mean, thoughtless, self-absorbed actions. No surprise. I've read comments from people who know you personally who say you're a dick. And truth be told -- not visiting a friend and ex-bandmate of many years who's dying in hospice is definitely a dick move.
His illegitimate daughter appeared on the Whatever podcast about a year ago a few times. The host mentioned her dad was a famous guitar player from a 80s rock band but she said she would only tell who if someone guessed it in the live chat. Took 3 appearances till someone finally guessed it, the only clue she gave was he’s dead. You could clearly see the resemblance, she even had his height.
Wow! It’s almost always with the best too! Very talented, good looking guy! Drugs will kill, but before doing so, they’ll humiliate and break it ! May he rest in peace!
Very sad life ending for a great guitar player and from what i've read over the years, he was a very cool guy. But ''helping'' a drug addict can be tricky, you know they'll be using it to get drugs and on one hand you're not helping him at all. I know, i've been through this being an addict myself in the past, people tend to not trusting you after a while.
RIP Robbin. Thank you for the years of music you gave to us your fans. I am so glad I never went past the point of smoking marijuana. I even thought at one point it was laced with something because even if I was sitting down and went to stand up it felt like a delayed reaction as if I was still sitting down. That made me stop smoking pot for good. I’m glad I never tried coke
Robin Crosby will always be a hero of mine and I will always feel he was done wrong by Ratt and especially the record company. Without him and Warren and the rest of the band the magic of their music wouldn't hold the test of time. Warren and Robin were a great team. I used to listen to Ratt and Dokken on the way to school every day.
TRUE ROBYN STORY:
I roomed with Robin in rehab in the mid 90’s.
And if you cared so much about him then maybe you could’ve fuckin visited him even once.”
TRUE STORY
Thank you for sharing your story.
Never met him, just saw the cheesy infomercials…
Was stupid like a pathetic MONSTER TRUCK commercial. Anyways …..
“What has drug addiction done for me it has cost me my career and everything else.” Robbin Crosby
❤
That was my first concert 🙂🩷🥰 I was 14 years old.
2 years here....great job 👍 keep it rolling
SO Satisfying to hear..... from ALL of You! 👍
Congratulations! I was a very heavy opiate user which is pretty much the same and it is a terrible thing to go through. I had to use Suboxone which is trading one addiction for another one but it's a lot safer and works if you really want to get off the drugs. Anyway for real, congratulations I know the struggle.
I was a sophomore in HS (late 1976 or early ‘77) when I walked into the Guitar Trader in San Diego to
buy the first electric guitar I paid for with my own money. R.I.P. Robbin.
What a story. Wow
Thanks for the music!
congrats!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t know u but im very proud of you for getting yourself clean. You’re awesome n so worth it! Keep going n never give up! 🫶🏻🤘🏻
You don't condemn the addict ,it's the addiction which is a disease & is an illness ,he was still a human being ,it's sad .
Rip Robbin. 🕯️
Exactly. When someone is that bad you know exactly where the money is going
Exactly 💯
I will NEVER forget that Rose which I froze, and still have the first time we met.💐🎸🎤🎧💿💿💿💯♥️
met him at a gas station in El Paso, what a sweet man so humble
Really? That's my hometown, what a nice gift that you were able to meet him. Where in EP?
When I was 19 I met Robbin after a show in Cincinnati. At the time I had just finished my first season as a professional baseball player and that was the main thing he wanted to talk about. He said he'd been a good ballplayer and I believed him . He was a big strong looking guy and it was obvious from talking to him this he knew the game. He was tired and he didn't seem very happy playing clubs. I think he left the band less than a year later
Cool!!!!! What pro baseball did you play?
@goobyplzz6751 that year I played for the AA Nashville Sounds in the Reds organization. It was a happy time in my life. Not getting paid much but I had the chance to do something very few people get to do , travel the country getting paid for playing baseball.
@@PlayerToBeNamedLater1973 wow that’s an incredible experience!!! So few ppl actually make it to the minors
Ratt was huge for about two years,on tv around the clock,on every magazine cover,radio...time flys
RIP King, gone but never forgotton. Thank you for the music!😢😊
This sad….. I was born in 1970 and grew up on hair metal. RATT was one of my favorites.
Definitely my favorite of the sunset strip bands and let's face it Ratt are way more talented than Motley Crue ever were .
Who remembers the Velcro Ratt wallet! Every cool metaler had one!😂
R.I.P. Robin thank you for the music you gave us. You may be gone but you will never be forgotten.
RIP ROBIN CROSBY!🙏
Robbin Crosby's music, specifically, Round and Round, was definitely one of the gateway songs into metal for me. It sounded so dangerous and I had to get into it.
He's not resting and he's definitely not in a place of peace right now.
@@destroyingfear777You do realize that you couldn’t possibly know this, right? You know whether or not he made peace with God? Who made you the judge?
So sad 😢 The early days of Ratt were great. Robbin was a big part of that. It's really beyond words, how sad it is that he fell from the top of the world to his grave.
Yea it was very sad to hear that they didn't even take time to even go visit with him and to try to keep him happy
He helped write the songs they were playing and made them famous...deserved something...reminds me of Doug Hopkins and The Gin Blossoms
I grew up listening to RATT. He was amazing. Truly missed.
having all the financial success and dying broke is what is really sad.
Hes a criminally underrated guitar player... I think i wasn't surprised to hear about the band abandoning him... sad...
How sad. This man had so many fans who loved him. I can't even believe no one in the band came and seen him. That Just breaks my heart 💔
A lesson to you young kids and a very sad story 😢
Thanks for sharing
RIP Robbin, lost but never forgotten ✌️🤘
His "Lay it Down" riff and tone is the 80's all wrapped up. RIP
Warren’s riff
The man behind the creation of the JACKSON KING V. ROBBIN " KING" CROSBY. Pretty awesome in my book, never mind that he created the first rock music that made me love Rock N roll. Or rather Ratt n Roll.
I remember the VH1 behind the music featuring Robbin, it was terrible how he was ghosted prior to his death.
He actually played a Custom Shop Double Rhoads.
The King V was made to look more proportional to average size players.
Robbin is a hero both for his writing and playing but his honesty and truth at the end. He was a good hearted human. Respect.
B
B. What IS surprisng is how some ex-band members act like they were there for him until his death, which just wasn't true. Sad.
@@TheREALJosephTurner
It’s not about money.
Pearcy is a selfish person and Blotz is not a good person
Great video, really well put together. It captures the story perfectly-such a sad and impactful narrative. 🖤 😢
Thank you so much!
You don't have to be a rockstar that's dying in order for people to leave you they leave you in regular life as well
I met robin a few times in an El Paso tx bar . He said he moved there for a while with his parents. He shared some crazy stories.
His sister had a nice home in Manhattan beach and I went there when he was house sitting for her ..
B. It is a crushing and heartbreaking blow to lose a family member to a heroine overdose . It happened to my family 9yrs ago with the death of nephew. You just can't believe they're gone sometimes. I never knew much about Robin Crosby, but after watching this very, very sad how his life ended.
Thank you so much for sharing your story. I worked at Atlantic Records back then and got to meet Robyn.
He was such a great guy.
That Mich interview was hard. Robbin knew he was dying and held nothing back.
Rest In paradise Robbin you won they can’t hurt you any more
That sucks the members of Ratt abandoning him .
I never knew what happened. Fuck man he was all alone .
A really sad story, but we don't know what his band mates in Ratt went through with him
very true
One of my personal favorites growing up was Robbin “KING” Crosby!#🎸🔥🤘🏻❤️👑
its so sad.....we lost robin at such a young age....dam drugs....
i grew up with robin in la jolla ,, i used to see him playing with his bands all over la jolla in mansions, the beach etc.... see him at the coffee shops etc. larger than life.... always cool....
i knew they would become famous musicians because of how perfect they sounded.... it saddens my heart how he went from the king to dying alone in some shack in l.a. .....breaks my heart...... may God bless you Robin Crosby......💜🌺
roy stockton
Rest in peace brother .. thanks for the awesome music
Robbin was a beautiful human and a beautiful soul. A friend of mine was a good friend to and with Robbin during those final years, thank God.
Early in the 80s the fridge at the ratt house was just beer after they starting touring the world and the fame came that is where this turned bad
Such a great guitarist he was. But surely lived that dangerous life. Rip
Robyn was as special as he thought he was❤
Lord, I remember when that VH1 interview played for the first time.
It's so heartbreaking. Unfortunately, he wasn't the first, and he won't be the last.💔
Paul Dianno from Iron Maiden lived a similar history
Its wild that Pearcy has spoke on the bands demise but of course forgets HIS role in it!
Tawny said it He was Beautiful!!Rest in Paradise 🙏🎸🏖️🖤🤍
Did it say that she dated Croucier, too???
She dated his band mate ?
Junkie or not you still have to have money…..
He's a casualty and a cautionary tale but was a colorful presence. Rip.
Well said
I can understand not giving a junkie cash money ( been there), but I would bring food, stuff to comfort him like herb, teas…something to show love and concern.
Just about all of that would have dried up in the 90's, Dee Snider said he was broke.
He's the unsung hero of 80's guitar playing.
Also Criss Olivia.
Very informative, thank 🙏 you. He was a good 🎸 guitarist, with great charisma, and looks, to match.
Most handsome guy in metal.
REST IN PEACE, KING 👑 a life full of triumph and tragedy.
When I first heard of how the rest of RATT wouldn't help him out, yes I was very surprised. Pisses me off.
Loved Ratt as a kid in the 80s and still do in 2024. Such a loss
Quitting heroin is the easiest thing in the world, I've done dozens of times throughout the years of active addiction. STAYING quit is the hard part. But anything that worthwhile usually doesn't come easy. RIP Robbin Crosby and thank you for sharing your music with us m
I wonder how Nikki Sixx feels because from what I hear, it was Nikki that introduced Robin to “boy.”
Robin was a super cool guy and a great guitarist. Ratt N Roll Robin!🤘
I remember him and Nikki Sixx jetting off to remote places to get messed up! Thank God at least Nikki was able to kick the habit before it killed him! But so many others like Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison and Cobain also died from the devil drug!
I had an apartment on Cherokee in Hollywood in 94. Used to see him cruising the drug corridor in his convertible Corvette all the time.
Robin was the face of RATT❤
RIP BROTHER😢❤
rip Robbin Crosby. he had a lot of successful friends they should have taken care of him.
We gave him YEARS of unwavering support and $$$
Yes , If he wanted a hundred , It went to his dealer .
You know the name of the video or where I can see her
He was so handsome. May he finally be at peace
Robin was beyond help like many professional junkies..he died from an overdose there was no saving him
So sad, he seemed like such a good dude that just got hooked. Addiction is evil.
Addiction is self-inflicted. You don't just "get" hooked.
Thank you Robbin, for helping Lillian Axe. Without you, I may not have discovered my most favorite band of all time.
Robin was cool af. God bless you Robin. I love Jesus❤
I am very surprised and it saddens me that his band members couldn't be there for him. What a tragic story.I miss you Robin. You were so talented.
Ratt and Roll🤘🏼R.I.P Robbin Crosby. The King🎸
He was so beautiful.
Robyn was right up there with Eddie VanHalen.
He was a genius and a great rocker❤.
Hes playing for God now❤
The King!! I will never forget him. Rest in peace, my Leo friend
Seeing him on their Behind the Music was almost as depressing as Jake Roberts in "Beyond the Mat."
ROBBIN CROSBY Always Forever,HE WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE GUITARIST 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸♥️♥️♥️
WOW THIS IS SAD I did not know about this at all 😢 thank you 🙏🏽 Rat why why why
I think that bands need to be more supportive of each other especially when members are struggling snd help members get the help they need
Sad part is. This behavior is what gave Grunge the upper hand.
Which is freaking weird since they were junkies aswell.
