Great job. I have never used carbide for steel cutting nor would I ever do that. I use these carbide tipped blades for tree work and under the dirt root cutting where they excel against a standard steel blade.
This was a very unique review, and you are right that the thinner blades cut smoother, because they have more teeth per inch. When I first use my Diablo carbide tip blades it was to cut up a radiator, that was two years ago and I still have the blade. Great review!

i use the carbide blade frequently on big jobs with a 4 amp battery operated dewalt sawzall and i have never experienced these problems ive cut through big a small and my sawzal with these blades went the distance everytime
@@SteveRobReviews you need a better charger and bigger batteries my battery and charger combination will charge a 10ah battery in less than 30mins and will run non stop for hours that saw has no vibration suppression yeah it will beat the living shit out of you with other saws you have different speed settings for cutting metal and the amped carbide blades from diablo are amazing I've cut 50 1" rebar in less than 5 minutes so has impact tool nation check out his video on cutting metal with those blades

I do got xr saws and they seems to run the batteries healthier and smoother used properly within reason. Depends on what’s going for, right tool for right project, right blade for right material. Older tools run harder on everything, still work.

Thanks, an interesting review about the practicality of using a recip saw for a major job, especially the vibration issue. Personally I'd use an angle grinder to cut up a big steel job like you had. Less vibration and I think more efficient for steel

At work all i use is the carbide diablo blades i have to uses them because im constantly cutting steel and aluminum if i use any other blade they dull out in an hour. Im 17 so the extra vibration aint a problem to me also they cut through everything i cut like its butter
Yeah. I had to cut down some thick steel fence posts. The carbide blade had a hard time digging in and lost a lot of teeth. Shop picked up some of the carbide ones lil while back, still using same blade months later in my air saw, aimilar time frame in past wouldve used up 2 or 3 packages of snap on blades. Also used on chopping up pallets, cutting brake chamber rods, etc also use in my corded sawzall too. (Corded works great since air saw runs like 20k rpm)
Now that a great review Steve....I had tried them diablo carbide blades and it just took to much to do the same work as the normal ones.....I have a good stash of the normal blades and just keep on changing them.....If you want to cut you can't think about saving a few blades....just keep popping them new blades on and the work will get done....CHEERS

Great video.. I use basic all the metal cutting blades.. cut metal ALL the time… I use electric 98% of the time, they just cut better with electric with any blade
I prefer to use the thinner blades for metal and save thicker blades for wood. The thick blades are more accurate making straight cuts in wood. The thin blades tend to bend and make the cut crooked in wood but like you said Steve cut much smoother. They are all expensive and none of them really last that long. Lenox are the blades I prefer, then Diablo, hardly ever DeWalt.
I was thinking a higher TPI is best. Those Carbide blades are 8TPI compared to Bi-metal blades that you can get in 8-24TPI. I'm thinking 10TPI, 14TPI, 18TPI. For the same price you get 5 blades with the Bi-metal. I can't find Carbide blades in 10,12,14,16,18 or 24TPI only 8TPI TPI = Teeth Per Inch! I'm no expert but I got to imagine that the higher number of teeth reduces lifespan but cuts faster and easier than a huge gap teeth design like 8 Teeth Per Inch when you can have 4x that amount cutting at the same time. Probably wear faster because they are smaller

Jim the blades are super strong and do last much longer than non carbide but man they sure need a strong reciprocating saw and a super strong person holding on for dear life 😅🤣

Talking about generators..I remember you covered electrical system stuff for your cabin but did you ever cover what type of generator you use? I'm gonna have to check. Researching them currently, planning on buying one for storm back up soon.
I did three genset videos but never the one at my camp. Its a generac 7000W , 15 years old . Id but another but it chews up a lot of fuel at 14 hp. I use my honda eu2000 for my backup genset for my house.

It's that shitty DeWalt charger and recip saw... If I put that same flex 24v recip saw with the stacked lithium battery's with a charger that will charge my batteries In 20 mins with vibration suppression your thoughts on these blades would be totally different
Ill stick to the regular after all these wear out in 40 years :) Its $2000 a month as the ones on unemployment just get them benefits but no $600 top up as in the states. If your out of work because of coviid you get the $2K , not sure for how long as canada is bankrupt and we will soon not be able to fund anything for much longer .
I'll tell ya it's an eye opener for me as I thought the carbide would cut like butter , it did real well but man do them blade need a HD saw to operate and a HD operator to :)
They work great for Hardened steel or ceramic coated oly screws and lasted 10x longer than any other blade. They have uses.
The carbide blades certainly work wonders on 4" cast iron pipe as well.

Sean they sure get the job done but a bit too aggressive for my liking plus my cordless saw sure took a beating . HAHAHA

Roy the blades are great but my 5amp dewalt battery fully charged couldn't handle the aggressive blade at all. The battery was less than a year old.

Diablo makes good blades.But I like your comparison. If I have a lot of cutting to do I'll go with your recommendation.
Wyatt this demonstrates how cordless fall short on power to handle high torque loads for extended times , just drained my battery super fast.
The regular blade looks like it makes a cleaner cut too. I'd be interested to see the difference when cutting cast iron
The carbide is very aggressive and does not make a fine cut at all. Cast just destroys a regular blade so im thinking the carbide can do it.
I prefer to use the thinner blades for metal and save thicker blades for wood. The thick blades are more accurate making straight cuts in wood. Yes have used it many times , 5 gallons can get me by for a week and its super reliable . I store 10 gallons just in case.

Mike for industrial use ok but most of us would not use a pack of blades in a year and not get beat up by the blade either. LOL
