The appeal of the Denali Ultimate is that it has the same quality leathers, suede ceiling, and massage seats as a Platinum-trim Escalade for about $20k less
I have a 2021 Denali and a 2022 Escalade, I can tell you the difference between these two are much more than just the interior. I think Escalade is worth the money.
@@robwang174 I agree there's a huge difference. The Escalade is an ugly flashy mess. The GMC is as classy as something that large can be. There's a reason the caddy's tend to be worth the same ore less at the 5 year mark and that delta just grows. That flash style just doesn't age.
Two reasons to go for this over the Escalade. First, as someone else mentioned, you get every option for about 20% less than the equivalently loaded Escalade. Second, it’s slightly less conspicuous than an Escalade. For people who bounce between urban and rural areas the Denalis are better suited than cruising into small towns in an Escalade. That’s why we made the switch from Escalade to Denali. Both looked awesome, but one was less expensive and less out of place in the different environments we travel to.
@@4liter ditto! Also keeps from having to hear the guys make comments like “you can’t hide money”, haha! Even though the Denali trim doesn’t get me completely out of the woods.
5 reasons for someone on the fence, whether to get an Ultimate or an Escalade Sport to choose the Escalade... 1. Price is a lot closer than 20%, especially with dealers marking up the Ultimate $15 - 20k. 2.Exterior of the Sport looks better 3. Interior on the Escalade is in a whole other league. 4. Cadillac doesn't limit someone willing to spend $100k to those ugly brown leather seats. 5. Denali's warranty is 3y/36k B-B, 5y/60k powertrain. Escalades is 4y/50k B-B, 6y/70k powertrain. As for the Denali being better suited for bouncing between urban and rural areas and cruising into small towns, I found that laughable.
@@08c6vette I agree the Slade sport looks better. Very valid point on the warranty. Interior is subjective, and everything being the back sears is roughly the same. If the Ultimate is marked up then so is the Escalade in most cases. I don’t get what you think is laughable about what IMO the most important difference. Yes the Denali will stand out in rural, lower income areas, but not nearly as much as an Escalade. I can say that from experience in multiple states. Not to mention when you don’t want coworkers or employees to take note of your expensive vehicles. My doctor buddy who works with a small group of docs, has two range rovers and an M3. It's good to see GM actually making the "Ultimate" package actually feel like something special. The prior versions of the Ultimate package, or at least the 2021 version i drove, was rather underwhelming from an interior perspective. No massage seats, no special leather, no full LCD display, no special wheels. It was nice, but felt a bit off given it's sticker price. This seems like they actually put some effort into improving it.
I sold GMCS for a year and I was dismayed how much they'd charge for an ultimate which was barely noticeable unless the few additional upgrades were pointed out
Did you know that we have transport trucks driving in city centres to supplies stores etc? It's only the inner heart of a City or small alleys where you can't drive.
As a 2018 Yukon Denali owner, I just preferred the more truck-like styling of the Yukon over the Escalade. Wasn't a fan of the grill, headlights, and full vertical taillights. I also disliked the interiors of that generation Escalade. The Yukon also looks so much more natural once you start modifying it with racks, power, wheels/tires, lift, etc.
I’ve found the Escalade to look too flashy in a way, it’s just a luxurious behemoth which I think probably turns people away. This doesn’t look as flashy and has a nice subdued look
We ordered ours with super cruise and it’s fantastic. I was surprised it showed up with it. For us, it came down to the dash and interior, the escalators very nice, but we prefer this layout, especially all the physical buttons. That, and it seems like this is the best at everything. Can tow, is luxurious, isn’t too flashy etc. for sure nicer than the full size Range we got rid of in favor of this. There’s also a bunch of settings in the sound system where you can turn on the Bose performance audio or something like that. The stereo is much better when you select that option.
@@williamumbach592 whew we got lucky then! Blown away by the auto lane change, it’ll look for gaps in traffic and merge in and out completely on its own. The seat just vibrates on the side it’s merging too and off it goes. Pretty cool.
At that price point just get the Escalade and you get that amazing curved display. It adds so much to the interior, the Yukon still feels like a truck interior.
In typical GM fashion, after three years of getting slammed for the dogshit interiors they put in the new Chevy and GMC pickups, they finally upgrade them and then make them nicer than the interiors in their top of the line SUV's, instead of upgrading them both at the same time, which of corse we know what thats all about. Then they limit someone willing to spend a $100k for an Ultimate to that shit brindle brown interior.
In my mind Escalade has been associated with the Hollywood/Musician scene since forever. I don't know if that's right but that's just my brain. So I would definitely go Denali. I feel like I can't get an Escalade dirty. 😝
8:17 GMC's Denali line is a luxury trim-line while staying true to GMC's truck-heritage. A Yukon looks more rugged and truck-like as it mostly shares front-end queues design with the Sierra 1500 while the Escalade is more-designed to be a pavement princess.
I've also got one reason for choosing this over an Escalade: it looks so much better both on the inside and outside to me. I would want to love Escalade as it's more upscale but it's current design just doesn't get to me at all. I very much liked the previous one and the one before it but now it's just too simple for my taste. Thanks for a nice video!

Also the Escalade V after msrp is like $225,000 this is a no Brainer, people forget they both made by GM same engine and chassis you just don’t get magna-ride suspension
I grew up in a small town where there are only Chevy/GM, Dodge, and Ford dealerships. Denali trims we’re the top of the food chain because there were no Cadillacs or Lincolns. Rich farmers and oil workers will pay Escalade money for a GM because they definitely have that scratch and there are no Escalades or Navigators at the local dealerships.
In Florida where I was, the Cadillac dealer was 100 feet from the gmc dealer, even if the price was the same for escalade it still had a 25k markup over msrp. Also I am not posh enough for an Escalade, I don’t want to feel judged like I have more money than I do.
