    I LOVE it that you painted this car. The green is STUNNING. They should make these available UN painted. These are the ULTIMATE models that just SCREAM for custom paint jobs. GREAT VIDEO.✌

    It's such a joy to watch you work. Thank you.
    I used to paint full size cars and I would get asked a lot why our paint jobs took so long to do. Now, even you know why.

    The paint job you did was worth the effort of stock, but I would have been overwhelmed by the size of it. Great job. Beautiful. (Yes, I skipped ahead.) Thanks for your posts.

    • @dreed5965
      @dreed5965 2 роки тому

      Is a touch up gun not too big for a model of that size? Doing a 1/8 repaint also and the small bits like the mirrors, fuel flap, spoiler legs are thumbnail sized.

    benieuwd of er geen kleurverschil ontstaat als gevolg van het apart spuiten van de verschillende bodyparts. Metallics zijn hier heel gevoelig voor

    • @TheScalemodelingChannel
      @TheScalemodelingChannel  2 роки тому +2

      Nope, geen kleur verschil. Als je bijhoud hoeveel lagen je spuit, dezelfde pot verf gebruikt en goed dekkend hebt gespoten zou dit geen probleem moeten geven.

      @petermillecento4906 2 роки тому +1

      @@TheScalemodelingChannel Dat klopt, maar bij metallic zeker ook goed letten op de afstand tussen het pistool en het model. Te veel verschil geeft een andere verdeling van metallickorrel en zodoende kleurverschil

    Now you've been using it for a while, do you prefer the trigger style airbrush over the traditional style? I've been thinking about getting a trigger style and would love your thoughts on it.

    • @TheScalemodelingChannel
      @TheScalemodelingChannel  2 роки тому +5

      I prefer the trigger way more, it fits in my hands perfectly and gives me a lot of comfort. The traditional top trigger gave me cramps in my hands.

    • @tonydola3232
      @tonydola3232 2 роки тому

      I also get cramps I’m my hands from the traditional. I love the trigger style. One important thing tho. Make sure your compressor can handle it. It pushed out a lot more air. And will drain the tank. Make it run all the time and build up condensation from constant use. So either you will get water in your paint, or the coat won’t be as nice as it could due to the compressor struggling to push the air. Make sure you have a compressor with a tank. Or at least one they can handle that demand.

    • @TheScalemodelingChannel
      @TheScalemodelingChannel  2 роки тому +2

      Also in general, instal a moisture trap on the compressor

  • @BigMountainCustomRC
    @BigMountainCustomRC 2 роки тому +3

    Beautiful work. I do however have a question.... Why wouldn't you use a self etching primer on the bare metal parts before spraying the grey primer? In my experience with painting full sized vehicles, the self etching primer guarantees there won't be any bubbling in the paint work. Just wondering why you wouldn't be using it.

    • @TheScalemodelingChannel
      @TheScalemodelingChannel  2 роки тому

      Havent thought of it. 95% of what i do is plastic. So don’t have that much experience with metal. Certainly not on this scale.

    Nice project and results are fantastic. Can I ask how much base paint and clear you used in total? And what airbrush did you use? Don’t recall hearing these during the video but apologies if you do say, will be rewatching tomorrow and will delete this if it’s in the video.
    Doing a 1/8 GTR repaint myself and unsure on how much paint I’ll likely need and what airbrush is best for this size model.

    13:30 ... (Constructief commentaar. Niet schieten, graag...!) Veel mensen die modellen spuiten, vooral van dit soort grote modellen, vergeten altijd dat het model WEL op schaal is, maar de verf NIET !! Je kan gerust modellen spuiten met echte autolak, gebruik makende van een grote paint gun (dus geen airbrush). Zelfs kleine speelgoedauto's worden in de fabrieken gespoten met grote paint guns waar veel verf uit komt. Het resultaat is topklasse. Jaren geleden heb ik eens een 1:12 Tyrrell P-34 van Tamiya gespoten op deze manier. Echte autolak, gespoten in een echte verwarmde spuitcabine van een autospuiterij.
    Het is tot op heden mijn mooiste model. SU-PER-strak eindresultaat. Lukt je gewoon NOOIT met van die kleine airbrushes. Nooit. Vergeet dat maar. Ik heb niet voor niets een hele grote compressor en een DeVilbiss SRi-Pro. Dat ding spuit verf alsof het gratis is, je moet dus altijd veeeeeel meer verf aanmaken dan wat je nodig hebt. Maar man-oh-man, wat is het eindresultaat mooi.
    Nog een pluspunt: echte autolak is drie componenten, dus de volgende dag is de lak glashard en bijzonder duurzaam.
    Edit: Hoe denk je dat die grote metalen body gespoten werd, in de fabriek? Met een grote paint gun. Dat kan ik je absoluut verzekeren !!

    Hello. I think it would be worthwhile to first assemble the model and align all the gaps, including with a file. Then disassemble and paint as the model is a curve. Well, at least I had a curve.
