Thank you so much for this video! I am a former professional dancer - I retired at age 31 because I was pretty much in constant pain. Could someone help me? I have just been put onto antibiotics for a really bad ear infection. How do I help my microbiome back to where it is now either whilst or after i have completed the antibiotics? I eat whole foods plant based and have a good digestion but am worried when i start the antibiotics tonight that every thing will go 'pear shaped 'and it will take me a long time to get back . Your advice is very much needed as of course the Doctor said nothing...., i live in the UK, by the way. d.
hey there ! before you start antibiotics, i have an experience to share. As per indian traditional wisdom(ayurveda) , an easy treatment is as follows:- Heat 3-5 tablespoons of cold pressed mustard oil in a small pan on medium low flame, add 5-6 cloves of garlic when the oil is hot. Turn to simmer and let the garlic cook in the oil for 10 mins. Then let it cool. Once it is cool, use a dropper and add 5 drops of the prepared oil in the infected ear. I have 6 year old who had double ear infection, but through this method the infection cleared in few days. Hope this helps!
What I've heard is that the most important thing is to continue to eat prebiotic foods! continue to eat a large variety of veggies, fruits, legumes, and whole grains throughout the process and it will help keep you on track. In one of the last two Q&As with Dr. Will Bulsiewicz on this channel he talks specifically about the antiobiotic issue and that's what he says... but don't believe me! I would suggest adding foods like misso with good healthy bacteria. Other fermented foods like sauerkraut or kimchi would also be good to eat. The best though (as it has a very different bacteria) is natto. It is an unusual food to most of us in the west but it is the top plant based source of vitamin K2 which is needed to direct calcium and other minerals to the bones and not the soft tissues. Most vegans get K2 by eating plants with K1 and then we convert K1 to K2 but if you want to fix your gut bacteria faster due to the antibiotics then eat Natto and you get a quick infusion of very good bacteria that feeds off the soybeans. You can find it as Asian markets but I suggest adding lots of mustard as it is an unusual taste and texture for most of us.
In addition to taking supplements like vitamin D and vitamin B12, do you use anything else in addition to your to your vegan diet? What do you think of protein expert Dr Don Layman, who claims that for an older person, you need more not less protein because you absorb less?
Check with your doctor about a safe way to go plant based so your INR isn’t too low. Also check with your doctor to see if you are a candidate for Eliquis. It is an expensive med.
Definitely go whole foods and low low oil! But also take your medicine and let your doctor watch very closely with it and hopefully you will eventually be able to come off of it! 🙌🙌

He is describing legumes and whole grains as “complex carbohydrates.” By percentage of calories, these foods are majority carbohydrates so that characterization makes sense.
