This will probably be the least popular but would like to see a natural 80's look. Like Molly Ringwald in The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink.
Audrey Jacob I think it’s an awesome idea! I was born in 1971, so the 70s are interesting to me...& the John Hughes films are, in a sense, literally my life! I love your suggestion!
I imagine in the future 2010's make up tutorial. "Okay so first we are gonna prime. Priming was all the rage so prime prime PRIME! And next color correct (even if you don't need it). Eyebrows were ALL the rage. If you didn't have brows then what was life? Next we are gonna do a series of drag make up techniques because we need that flawless coverage." Omg and I would be watching like "omg they are so right I did that!"
We’re already looking back at 2010’s makeup now being like “wtf” but I swear in another 20 years those of us who spent our teenhoods in the 2010’s are going to be questioning why we felt the need to get SO much coverage and cakiness.
I came of age during the Disco era, and I wore the purple eyeshadow and wine lipstick (I think it was Wine With Everything by Revlon), along with Revlon Touch and Glow foundation in Ivory. And, ah, I remember the 70' s stripe blush!! Never went to a Disco but loved the makeup and the music!! Thanks, Zabrena!!😊
I was 22 in the early 70's and wore my hair in the shag style. Dorothy Hamill was also very influential with the "bowl" cut. Thanks for sharing, Zabrina. Like they say in Vegas, what happened in the 70's, stays in the 70's. :) Jane
1980-1984 feathered hair & 80s makeup . I was in high school and my sister and I went through bottles & bottles of Aquanet. There was a purple eyeshadow quad from Cover Girl that I repurchased several times with my babysitting money. And we didn't pluck our eyebrows (Brooke Shields) It would be fun to see that recreated.
One of the original makeup lines to come out during the disco era was a line called stagelights. They made a matching shadow and gloss called Blue Roses. They are still in excistance and the shade is still available. You did a great job recreating the colors and textures from that time.
+violetfaire I loved Stagelight. They were my holy grail for makeup. I owned probably every shade of their eye sparkles, eye pencils and most of the lipsticks. I still have my old pot of Pink Champagne left.
I was a teenager during the 70's and you got it down! If only we had the common sense to blend out our makeup like you did we would not cringe when looking at our old photos. You are so beautiful and creative. Thank you for making my day.
OMG - this look is perfection. I was a teenager and you have completely captured 'the look' to a tee! Of course, your look is far prettier than how we really looked.
Zabrina now you KNOW I was there and a major Disco dancer every night (Yes Every night! I lived at Buzby's, Trocadero Transfer, The I-Beam and Dreamland ...just to name a few San Francisco Discos of the day) So I know the look. And YOU got it down! Burn baby burn! Salute et fabuleux! PS...I cut my very long straight hair in 1975 and went for a short tight perm!)
+Lanier Smith Agghhhh, can you see my face turning pea green with jealousy?!!? You party animal, you! What a time to be alive! I love that you did the perm, too! Thank you for your always most kind words, my dear! HUGS!! xoxoxo!
Having fun watching all of these historical women you do. Outstanding. Coming from a woman 72. Thank you make my day. Dis abled but still I like taking care of myself and makeup. Love all you do with make up and the dos and don'ts. 💕
You do a really superb job with these videos! I was born in '72 and when I was in kindergarten and grade school this is how I remember women looking on TV. I was a little young to see Saturday night fever but one of my favorite shows was Dance Fever and also Solid Gold. I love this. What a flashback for me!
I totally was looking at pictures of the 1970s last night...before I watched your video!!!! We had allot of the same pictures saved!! Crazy!!! I loved the 70s. I grew up in the 70s...very colourful clothing....bell-bottom jeans, platform shoes...mini dresses and go-go boots!!! Fabulous times!!! Great video! XO
+Mop Queen I think it's any easy mistake to make. Let's face it, most of us couldn't even come close to doing a video as good as this. She's very well spoken so I can certainly overlook things like this.
Was looking for simplified directions for Disco Makeup and found you. My Bff for 66+ yrs. is getting a 70's themed party for her 70th birthday! It will be EPIC!
Last year, I used your 1920s tutorial to get ready for my company's party and I won best dressed. This year the theme is disco and I can't wait to use this tutorial to knock the makeup out of the park once again!
My mother used a shimmery blue by Revlon and her favorite lip was by Mary Quant. I also remember watching her put her lashes on, individually to top and bottom, very very Twiggy. Boy did I think she was the most beautiful woman alive :)
+Isabelle Etiévant omg! yes! who can forget that hairsprayed bangs straight up off the forehead to the heavens and sides of hair looking like wings? I can still remember walking into the girls bathroom and tasting hairspray
I’m heading to a 70’s Disco party this weekend and sought out inspo. Look what popped up ;) Thank you for the inspo even tho this is many years later. You still inspire. I hope you and your babies are doing wonderfully well. We’ll see what I come up with 😊
Hahahah, I love it! You look sooo cool as a disco queen! Great job on these historically accurate makeup looks. Cant really find anything as good as yours :)
I also remember a lot of girls in the '70s wearing light blue eyeshadow and light frosted lipstick. I hated the look but it was popular. It led the Paula Begoun (of Paula's Choice) writing her book "Blue Eyeshadow Should Be Illegal."
Hey Zabrena! This look is absolutely fabulous!! I am in LOVE with your historically accurate series. It has seriously helped me so much with enjoying makeup art and with feeling adorable. :) I was thinking, perhaps you could do an early 70's Glam Rock look- like David Bowie or Marc Bolan style. You could do it on yourself (which would help us girls know how to replicate it; I have a bit of trouble not looking kinda silly when I try to do a Bowie inspired look) or have one of your willing male friends model for ya! Hope ya like my suggestion! Keep workin' it, girl! ;D
I remember this look! Now I'll be singing "MacArthur Park" all day! {{ MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark. All the sweet, green icing flowing down...}} I would love to see an 80's look. I'm an 80's girl and remember those makeup looks fondly.
One that would be fun to see isn't really another time period but maybe you could do a historically accurate makeup tutorial on how you used to do your makeup maybe way back when you first stated wearing it with all me possibly funny little mistakes like unblended eyeshadow blocks and foundation lines????
Zabrena i just loved your 70's tutorial. its make up and education all in one moment. you gave me so many ideas for my 70's look tonight. thanks so much. ill be checking you out now. double kisses.
aww, thomasina (idk if I spelled that right)!! What a beauty she was. I love seeing her in the video. it makes me smile. :) pets are so important, even when they have passed. they remind us what unconditional love and loyalty are.
Awesome! I love the makeup from this decade. You're at 200k! Congrats! Could you maybe do something from the mid 1800s (not sure if they wore any kind of makeup then), or revisit the 1940s? Thank you so much for the video, these and the Transforming Into are my favorite series :).
I'm having a oooh shiney😍 moment over that purple on your eyes. May have to be a birthday present to myself next month. 😘. Gorgeous and well done! I've been antisapating this video 💕💜💕 Loving that dark lip, got to dig thru my WNW lipsticks to see if I already have that color unless it's new color?
Awesome video!! but I would really enjoy longer videos from you!! you have such an amazing personality Zabrena! I would cry from happiness if you started doing some kind of chit chat grwm's 😍😍😍 please think about that! I want more of you than 5-10 minutes 😢 lots of love 💋
+mrsiloveanime Would definitely be interesting, but I'm not sure how smart being totally accurate during certain historical eras - including medieval - would be. There were a lot of things used we now know to be extremely toxic, like lead based powders.
+LilyC Beauty She uses modern makeup to recreate the looks. Like when she had done the 1800s video (I think that's what it was) she speaks about the skin makeup during that time was incredibly harmful. The accurate part is more of the what it looks like, not what they actually used.
LilyC Beauty it will be interesting to know what was considered beautiful in that era, and by the way I love the medieval dresses and clothing of that era in general. How about you?
+mrsiloveanime for the most part, makeup before the 1920s was basically variations of rouged cheeks and lips with pale skin. They experience spikes of how acceptable it was to make the cosmetics known, though. Ex: in the victorian era, makeup was taboo but women still wore it secretly (paint to hide blemishes and lighten the face and rouge to redden the cheeks). In the 18th century french courts, pale skin with red cheeks and pink lips were the style as well, but you could be more obvious with the application (which is why the faces were painted stark white and the cheeks were rosy red.) The medieval era was a time of labour, for the most part, and while makeup like eyeliner and eyeshadow was produced fashion dictated that it wasn't really worn. However, i would LOVE to see her go into the history of cosmetics during this time because it is HILARIOUS. Cosmetics and loose morals were synonymous around this time, and yet we know women would sometimes wear makeup (although usually it was just prostitutes). How did women around this time get around wearing makeup? the clergy made exceptions, of course! sick and looking gross? okay god will forgive just cover up those dark circles for christ sake, Margaret. Had to marry your husband for money but he thinks you're gross-looking and he might cheat on you? okay, its not sinful if you put a little rouge on- but not enough to attract another man's wife!! God if she goes into this era i hope she mentions signora toffana: a woman who invented a powder foundation with arsenic in it and told women who married their husbands to wear it in front of them. After the men would kiss their cheeks and die, the women were left as rich widows!
Hi! I love this video! I was wondering if you could do a 1940s WWII era look maybe a pin up one? It was a very interesting time for women and I'd love to see how you would do the makeup for it!!
I don't know if I've really seen anyone do this before but I'd love to see you do a geisha look. I think it's a very lovely look that you don't see many people do. Or an every day Egyptian look.
love your videos :) you put in so much effort and research to your videos they are not just nonsense you actually care and know what you are talking about !!! heres to you getting millions of subscribers in 2016 :Dx x x x

Glad you put the darker lipcolor on. Also, the Farrah Fawcett curls were really big in the disco era, too. Lots of big wavy curls.
vamp look from the 20's and 30's it is my favorite because my skin is fair and i love the hair styles as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! great job
I was 22 in the early 70's and wore my hair in the shag style. Dorothy Hamill was also very influential with the "bowl" cut. Thanks for sharing, Zabrina. Like they say in Vegas, what happened in the 70's, stays in the 70's. :) Jane

I would love to see a look inspired by Elizabeth Taylor in the early 1950's. Such a classic beauty!
I second this! Although I always end up realizing that it's not the makeup that was special. It was her face! 😭
Yes Elizabeth Taylor makeup was beautiful.
Yesss!!!
yes!

This look made me feel like you just time traveled from the 70s. You are so stunning
I was a teenager during the 70's and you got it down! If only we had the common sense to blend out our makeup like you did we would not cringe when looking at our old photos. You are so beautiful and creative. Thank you for making my day.

Can you do an Old West 1890's look?
Having fun watching all of these historical women you do. Outstanding. Coming from a woman 72. Thank you make my day. Dis abled but still I like taking care of myself and makeup. Love all you do with make up and the dos and don'ts. 💕
Such a fun look!!! I forgot all about this series. Please make more of these videos!

Beautiful outcome!😍
Did she say "Cabernet ?"
+Mop Queen Yes she did....I'm sure she meant Cabaret.
+Mop Queen LOL Too early for wine?! Hee hee ... I mean 'Cabaret' - whoops ;)
I think so, cabaret and cabernet sound pretty alike though so probably just a flub
+Mop Queen I think it's any easy mistake to make. Let's face it, most of us couldn't even come close to doing a video as good as this. She's very well spoken so I can certainly overlook things like this.
+RangerMommy yeah it's just a small flub, no big deal, her talent is obviously spectacular!
I love watching these because they are so much fun and you look good in all of them!!
Was looking for simplified directions for Disco Makeup and found you. My Bff for 66+ yrs. is getting a 70's themed party for her 70th birthday! It will be EPIC!

+Bukki Isaacs Haha! Thank you, beautiful! xoxo!

Awesome idea
rngy33 agreed I need a new everyday look
SaltyBitch 😂😂😂 same
My mother used a shimmery blue by Revlon and her favorite lip was by Mary Quant. I also remember watching her put her lashes on, individually to top and bottom, very very Twiggy. Boy did I think she was the most beautiful woman alive :)

I was thinking, perhaps you could do an early 70's Glam Rock look- like David Bowie or Marc Bolan style. Me too . . . dancing to Donna Summer . . . yep!
One that would be fun to see isn't really another time period but maybe you could do a historically accurate makeup tutorial on how you used to do your makeup maybe way back when you first stated wearing it with all me possibly funny little mistakes like unblended eyeshadow blocks and foundation lines????
I think that would be interesting
+celeste morton Haha! Yes! I did one a long time ago but it's since been deleted ... :( Maybe an updated version? Thank you for the request!

Hi Zabrena, I'm rewatching your historically accurate videos. I LOVE THEM!!! Could you do a cyber goth make up look?

I've been antisapating this video 💕💜💕

She's so smart that I like listening to her explain all kinds of things.
Love it! I bought flares and platforms this year too. It's coming back!
Great video! I appreciate the research you do for these videos.
maybe some historically accurate medieval makeup, please?

Hi! I love this video! I was wondering if you could do a 1940s WWII era look maybe a pin up one? It was a very interesting time for women and I'd love to see how you would do the makeup for it!!
Very helpful for a piece of fan fiction that I want to write
I don't know if I've really seen anyone do this before but I'd love to see you do a geisha look. I think it's a very lovely look that you don't see many people do. Or an every day Egyptian look.
I may be late to your party, but this is going to be a great 70s look for a friend's bday party on Sunday (4-24-2022). 😁

Please do an 80's hair metal look.
I will be using this tutorial for a 70s disco party. Thank you
The Liza Minelli film was "Cabaret," although "Cabernet" would probably also be a good movie!
I’m apparently late to the table on this channel, but I think it would be cool if you’d demonstrate the skin care regimen of each era as well!😊
