Unlike other makeup gurus who do period looks, yours are ACTUALLY historically accurate. These looks aren't slightly tweaked to current standards but look exactly they way they did in that decade!!! How fascinating and fantastic!
Jebjess
What are you talking about? We did not use eyebrow pencil, false eyelashes, smudge our liner, or eye use lid "foundation". She looks very close with the wig, but her makeup has been 2000s tweaked all over the place.
@@bigred9428 then what did yous do?
Its Not Me ,
Great Lash mascara and melted eyebrow pencil used as eye liner, usually only on the inside rim.
If I'm correct...Natural looks were more common in the 70s? I had a book that had makeup ideas (from 1977) and from what I recall, the looks were more simple, and neutral colors were usually worn during the day.
@@bigred9428 hey big red um shutup! don't be a hater. I bet 100% your like 12.
My dad went to high school with her. He said she was the most popular girl in school. He never picked up the courage to talk to her. ._. lol
***** You could have been her daughter. :)
C CaRLa lol thats not really how it works
I think she is just saying that the person could have been her daughter not saying that she is. If her dad talked to her and if they dated and 'stuff'. Not that she could be, that she could have been. There's a difference.
+Lola Blake its still not how it works, this girl was made by her mother and father. If her father had married this woman, the genes and everything would be different, and it would be impossible for "jesmagi" to exist
Olivia Ray EXACTLY! lol thank you
This hair color and makeup and style is actually extremely flattering for you, in my opinion
I second this!
I do too
As someone who graduated HS in 1978 in Northern Calif, I must say you nailed it. I don't remember the average girl looking quite as polished but all the trends you mentioned definitely trickled down & were represented. There was also a big 50s nostalgia thing happening in the 70s. Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley were big hits then. Leave It Beaver & The Patty Duke Show, etc, were in constant reruns. Probably in response to all the social upheaval of late 60s...
I'm from the Bay Area and graduated in '79. I agree!
yensid
I’m a hair younger but I remember the bronzed beauties Christopher Atkins and Brooke shields from the blue lagoon lol had the poster on my wall 😂
she looks sorta like Laurie from that 70s show
Salma Diaz yes
Laurie was the QUEEN of hair in that show!
That’s what I was thinking lol
I believe she is deceased now unfortunately. I always thought she, Red, and Kitty were the best characters of the show.
I thought you meant Laurie from Halloween
I was alive in the 70s. Flavored gloss was VERY popular.
I'm from 2000 so compared to you I'm a baby but even I get shivers when I think about the flavoured lipbalms I had that had this weird coco cola taste and smell😂
I agree. It was HUGE. BonneBell and LipSmackers Roll on glass
Well Bonnie bell began in 67 but I don’t remember flavored glosses being popular until the late 70s and early 80s
The first make up that my mom bought for me was flavored lip gloss in little cube shaped containers. She bought me strawberry, cherry and watermelon. I was about 12 at the time.
@@dawnburwell4876 Bubble Gum flavor! and wild cherry....Kissing Slicks!
A Stevie Nicks inspired makeup tutorial would be awesome! I've been looking everywhere for one!
I would definitely love a Stevie Nicks look!
yes!!
Mjollnir omg totally!!!!!😍😍😍
Mjollnir yessss the queen!!
Mjollnir I used to look just like stevie Nicks back in the 80s I had waist length hair with so many foil highlights and a long spiral perm . The hair alone took me over 45 min to do every morning the makeup isn't that complex mostly pale foundation and powder with black kohl in your waterline and just smudged underneath with a dark brown/ dark bronze eyeshadow or a grey eyeshadow on your lid with black waterproof mascara and during the day a pale pink frosted lip and at night a dark red lip or burgundy lip . And the main thing to do the stevie nicks look is growing your hair. It wasn't a problem for me because I had long hair since I was a kid coz my dad never let me have it shorter than my waist but if you got short or shoulder length hair extensions are a must , she always had extensions in the 80s. Back in the 70s her hair was more natural as was her makeup she used similar look to the one done here but with kohl in her waterline and smudged a bit . Nobody I knew used liquid liner we all used kohl some of my more trendy mates used electric blue kohl and mascara to match . I stuck to black because I was a rock chick I played bass in a group too. Oh I nearly forgot the most important thing to look like stevie nicks is long blond hair smokey black eyes big hippy jewellery lots of bangles and always wear long hippy dresses most are made in India and I bought all mine from Pasha in Newcastle upon Tyne and Camden market in London with a beige suede fringe jacket or an Afghan jacket and some patchouli oil as perfume or amber oil. Maybe I should do a utube tutorial when I get another iPhone good luck and hope you give it a try all I did was look at her photo on record covers and watch her closely on mtv. It was part of my role in my band as we were a fleetwood mac covers band so I needed to look like stevie for that . Sorry about the long comment hope it gives you some ideas ✌🏻😊peace out 😊✌🏻
You should do a princess Diana.
Sophie Mason why?
Mary Greenwell (who was Princess Diana's actual makeup artist) did a Diana tutorial on Lisa Eldrige's channel. It's really interesting and lovely 💕
@@katiebayliss9887 she was the 1980s beauty icon
I went to high school in the mid-to-late 70's and this "nature girl" look was referred to as Blow Dry. Probably because the hair required a lot of blowing out to get that much volume. It was very popular, especially the glossy lip (which is why we all carried those Lip Smackers in our bags). This was a fun video.
I started wearing makeup in about 1975-76. Used a lot of shimmery pink and blue eye shadows, shimmery pink lipstick and lip gloss! & I had the Farrah hair cut too.
I will never forget getting my Farrah hair style done witha curling iron, it was the coolest ever. I remeber all my makeup, LOVE, MF, Yardley, maybelline, Faberge perfume. I love the way you insert make up ads, the mags back then were much different you did not get bombarded with ads.
Diademglo yes you did. Lol
That's a great everyday makeup look for you. The natural makeup of the 70s always looks good and never dated.
This look is actually very suiting for you
My teenage years, how I remember this look!
travellingfemme Yes, Barbara Summers was an African American model in the 1970s.
Ha! I thought you were referring to Donna Summers. I thought htis was one of the most flattering looks you've done on yourself so far, btw. Loved as always!
Is your 1950's video out? can't wait to see it.
***** When you're applying the face powder, are you using a brush from "The Icing"?
Yes! :)
I love their brushes
FYI in the 70's ladies would sometimes use white frost eyeshadow as under eye concealer.
Yikes!
Oh noooo
Yes I’ve seen a picture of Farrah faucet with white eyeshadow under her eyes!
Would love it if you did the other side of the 70s with disco glam, maybe something Bianca Jagger or Studio 54 inspired?
My mom grew up in the 70s and she said they didn't really know how bad tanning was for your skin.
We used to tan using baby oil because it was supposed to be faster. I"m probably around your mother's age!
Rachel Albers haha my mom grew up then too and she says the same thing.
Yep. Or baby oil with iodine mixed in!
Suzan Storm ^^^^ YES the iodine omg lol
Rose A We were actually told that it was good for us! I wasn’t into lying around on the beach getting a suntan and would rather spend my time in the woods hiking or exploring caves. My mother would get so mad because she said my untamed skin was “unhealthy”!
You dotted really into the 70's here :-) I started to wear make me 1972 to the school and it was very popular to have bushy eyelashes. Must say that you are incredibly talented and well-read. Looking forward to your videos all you do. Wish you all the best, I'm from Sweden
Thank you for your kind words, Annika! Appreciate your support! :)
You should do a parody video where you're some year in the future looking back on "historically accurate trends" of 2013/2014 and kind of dabble in the more hilarious and over-done things (yet the things that can make you look 100 times better if done correctly) like the triangle of concealer or popular items like Mac's Candy Yum Yum, Anastasia DipBrow, and the Naked Palette craze. Just may be a cute way to also do a year in review..... clearly I don't know what made me think of that... maybe I'm losing my mind lol
could you do a historically accurate hippie makeup tutorial? I've been trying to find one for a while, but I can't seem to find any, and I love your videos!
Adrianna Sophia Hippies didn't wear makeup!
Correct! I"m from that generation! Only hippie wannabes wore makeup back then. They couldn't handle not showering, washing their hair and dirty clothes of the real hippies. I don't think people realize that most hippies rebelled against the establishment with a lack of personal hygiene among other things.
jayme g dirty hippie!
Your videos are honestly amazing because you combine 2 of my favorite things makeup and history! ❤️ Subscribed!
+Violet Motionless YAY! Thank you so much beautiful and welcome to you! :)
+Violet Motionless Is your last name a reference to Chris Motionless?
+Vriska Serket Haha yep :)
Violet Motionless Meeting another MIW fan makes me happy!!!!!!!! :D
+Vriska Serket Honestly me too!!❤️
gosh this brings back memories. I was a teenager in the 70's.
Lime green mascara on the bottom lashes, bright purple on the top yehhh baby :D
The flavored lip glosses were a huge hit with the Jr High and High School girls in the 70s!
I know that makeup was not very used in the 1910s but it was the very start of it. I would like like a video showing the historical facts about it and maybe a very basic makeup look. Some actresses did use makeup in that era. The Edwardian era is my favorite, so I'd love to see what you'd have to day about it. Thank you ! xxx
Veronique Auguste Ladies from late 1790s to 1830, revealing the popularity of very pale complexions with rosy cheeks, somewhat red lips, and perhaps a bit of eye-liner. The most ostentatious adornment in these portraits is a pearl necklace.
Love your channel, Veronique
Me, too! TV shows like "ANZAC Girls" and "The Crimson Field" got me interested in that decade. I'm sure the Suffragette Movement in Europe affected some of the fashion and hairstyles...also the shortages during WW1. I'd be interested to see what their makeup and beauty regimens were! Thanks, Zabrena, for all these cool videos!!!! :)
Actually the very start of makeup is ancient Egypt and Greece
YES!
In the 70's my older sister and her friends would spend all summer tanning with baby oil mixed with iodine. If they did use tanning lotion, it was always without sunscreen. Can you imagine?! They all roasted until well done! lol
I love how you give history with your tutorials like this! It makes them even more interesting.
i have a neighbor who is kind of stuck in that era of make up, and every time i see her she went full glam with a bright blue eyeshadow that ends right under her eyebrows....
Ive seen all your "Historically accurate makeup tutorials" and you are beautiful in any era! I love your videos! ♡♡
I've come across your channel quite by accident but I'm LOVING your historically accurate makeup videos. So if you see a spike in your viewings, it's just me watching all of them over and over again.
i love the background information you did and that you put the time to skip to. because most of the time people put it as an annotation but that doesnt work for mobile devices.
I love the research you do and the way you present it :)
Beautiful! This look was absolutely perfect.
I appreciate your historical tutorials so much because you include a thorough world view with them. Seeing what everyday life was like by looking at what our styles were is such a marvelous way to climb inside of history.
Next, personally I would LOVE to see the 30s!
I have been watching your videos and I honestly think this is one of your best looks. Very simple and sophisticated, and also very flattering.
Zabrena you've done a great job once again. I would say though that this "look" you've created is probably closer to Farrah's fellow '70s Angels Cheryl Ladd and Jaclyn Smith. Farrah's look was slightly more vivid; stronger blush, the lower lashes almost fully lined, and darker eye shadow, though in exactly the same design as you depict. But your research and attention to period detail are spot on.
Great job! I absolutely adored the 70's, the music, the hair, etc. I was too young to really appreciate them at the time, but as time has passed, I find it's a decade that I really miss.
It's cool that you include the time stamp to skip to the tutorial for those who just want that but I actually love that you include the little background information tid bits!
I've been waiting for your 70s look!
Because so few people have done it, and although I was born after the 70s there's something about the vibe, beauty industry, and and fashion that's gets me to this day.
You are so knowledgeable about this.. its not just a tutorial its a class.. I love it!
I'm really seeing Olivia Newton-John here, especially in the shot where you're all done, you've just gotten the wig on, and you're smiling at the camera. I was transported back to "Grease". Love it! So glowy, such a nice thing to see in chilly winter. :)
Yessss I LOVE this makeup look. So young, fresh, and flattering. The '70s is by far my favorite decade and I would love to see more historically accurate '70s makeup videos!
I love the info that you give before the tutorial.

You're brilliant! I love these so much. History is fascinating and I love makeup so the two together are like....DUH! Fantastic work.
Looooove this 😊!! Great work
Thanks so much for your videos. I remember some of these things about the 1970's, from what they showed on t.v. , magazines, my mother's makeup and what I started wearing as a teen. I loved the Bonnie Bell lip smackers they were ALL big in so many flavors. When you look at the makeup of Charlie's Angels, the shine and shimmer in the eyeshadows and stick blush too!!
So cool! What a great informative video! Love the look on you :)
I love these through back make-up looks. I was small kid in the 70s and I totally loved Farrah. I really enjoy your history lesson and pics of ads from back them. I actually remember them from my mom's magazines. Thanks again, this would be a great look for the summer!
this looks so healthy and lovely!! I've been watching a ton of these and i love the history you sew into your narrative :)))
Great video ! Would love to see the other two makeup looks of the 70's!!

Thank you! :D
you totally rocked that look
I love the lashes trick!!
Love it! Thanks Zabrina!
What about the 1910s! I'd love to know how women wore makeup then!
Some women did but they had to be really careful if they wanted to keep their reputation intact.
Makeup was actually sold under the counter in unmarked packaging until the 1920s, because even if women were wearing makeup they didn't want anyone to know they were buying it O_o
Of course!
I'm subscribing because you are so entertaining! Love your sense of humor and you're obviously very skilled with makeup.
Love it! Beautiful!
