    I am still at the basics with my two cats bit your videos thought me a great deal! They are great! Recently one cat throws up right after training can he be too stressed by it? They are both obsessed by food.

    Do you think it makes more sense to introduce an additional "emergency" callback? Since you tend to call a cat's name all the time, even if you're just laying on the couch and maybe want them to come over and snuggle with you, but don't have a treat there to actually reward them coming. So their name for a "hey buddy, I'm talking to you, maybe come here if you feel like it?" and a sharp callback "HERE!" in case there actually is an issue, such as an outdoor situation in which it is crucial the cat comes back to you 🤔

      I didn't have time to talk about it in the video, but I plan to do follow-up videos on an emergency recall and discuss a casual signal, like "let's go," which means follow me, which I use for leash walks. How I use these....The "let's go" is similar to when you call someone, and the person answers, "I'll be there in a minute." The name response is one of intermediate urgency, and should be a solid response since it's the one that you will use the most in the real world. The emergency recall is like a whistle call you would have with a dog - a distinct sound that you pair with an amazing reward, and use in emergency scenarios.

      I think a good rule of thumb (easier said than done) is make sure your cat can't see you grab the treats before the training session.

    The instruction on the package of the treats my cat loves says I can give only a certain amount of them per day. And I use this amount just at a certain time every day to train her. I don't understand, how I can use this training then, if I have to call her name several times a day. As I understand, unlimited amount of treats is not good for her. As far as I know, every brand of treats has that limit per day. Am I missing something here?

    Loving these videos so far. It's so great. We got the first paw touches last night and our kitty loves it. I do have a question. Is it possible to remove treats or should I say, not require them each time? For example wanting our cat to sit while we clean something, or give us a high five he won't seem to co-operate without the treats, or at least knowledge that the treats are around. TIA :)

    How many times should i do it ?
    How many days ?
    Its been a month i do this with their food it worked for a while but than stopped
    They know im calling them but they don’t respond to it
    I need to call them for their food every time otherwise I can’t feed them and those couple of days they just don’t
    And they instead try to eat things around my house
    I can’t leave dry food from them because one of them are at risk of obesity
    If you can read my comment please help..

    Hi! I love your videos, they are very useful and my cat has learned many tricks. But we're having a problem taking him on car rides. He get's very anxious and meows a lot. How can I use clicker training to get him to relax and enjoy car rides? Could you do a video on that?

    • @horsegirlb7120
      @horsegirlb7120 2 роки тому +4

      Keep the carrier out, with a nice bed in it and feed treats there so the cat loves their carrier. Then do little practice sessions out in the car, without going anywhere. Then with the car running, but not moving. Then just a quick trip around the block - you get the idea.
      LONG desensitization process. Don't forget you can bring your kitty to the vet to say hi, without a scary exam. The staff will love that you're helping your pet stay calm, and keep them safe. As long as it's not too busy.

    I'm getting two cats simultaneously from the same litter that I want to train to go on walks, since I'll live in an urban environment and don't want them going outside unsupervised. I think I'll train them both at the same time to come to me on a whistle command, for if we go outside and for whatever reason I don't have them leashed and can't easily find them. That way, I'll just have to whistle (which I can let carry further than just yelling) for them to come to me, instead of trying to go to them.
    I've done this with my rabbit I had when I was 9 too, who'd come when I called her, as well as my cat that I got when I was 11 (who died in 2019, at age 19). He'd come from outside (I currently live in a less urban enclosed neighbourhood with very little traffic and a playground out front) whenever I'd whistle, and he'd also follow me around whenever I was outside. He'd sit on command, he'd stop and stay at a single gesture (me holding up one finger), he knew what 'no' meant whenever he asked for food or cuddles, and he'd ask to sit in my lap by patting my thigh with his paw.
    I never specifically set out to train my animals, especially because I was so young when I got them, but I've always been active in raising them and setting boundaries and rewarding good behaviour, so it kind of comes natural to me. But now I'm 32, not 11, and I know what I want from the cats I'm going to get and I have a more informed idea of how to go about it, so I think it'll take a lot less time to raise my cats properly for both me and their own safety.

    What’s the point of using the clicker if the audible stimulus is calling their name? Seems redundant.

    • @fatim0nster
      @fatim0nster 2 роки тому +3

      Click works as a snapshot of desired behaviour and it's always consistent with how it sounds while the same vocal command can vary in tone, etc. As far as I understand they use clicker while they teach a new command. Once the cat learns it fully they stop using clicker.
