I remember playing this game in the 80's with a bunch of friends . We got 99 credits at the local poolroom with a string taped to a quarter until the thread got cut and the coin fell in the money box. I knew from the sound it made that it was the only one in there lol. We played the whole day till closing. That's the day I beat the high score! When I reached 99970 I purposely killed the remaining frogs so I don't bring my score back to 00000 and also get to keep my score on top of the screen. The next day when we stepped foot in the pool room the Greek owner picked up a pool stick and chased us around pool tables. We all ran out of there so fast!!!, I guess after we left that night he opened the money box and found only one coin and some thread! Its been over 30 years and I still laugh out loud when I think of it!!!hahahahah
I actually watched this entire video from a flight from EWR back to LAS. I don't know if I'm more dizzy from watching this or the flight. I still cannot believe I watched the entire video. And the guy sitting next to me asked me what the heck I was doing, and I said, "Watching "Frogger to kill some time." :)
That's amazing!! We bought the Arcade1Up Frogger, and love playing it. Only negative is, you get 3 frogs and can't set it any higher. We love our game though!
When they were programming it someone said "do we need a 6 digit score - don't want to waste the memory if I don't have to" and got the reply "don't worry, no one would ever be sad enough to get over 100,00!". Well how very wrong they were!
Great game, but like many games from back then it doesn't really get any harder after a certain point, around level 8 or so. So if you can stay focused you can play this forever (but staying perfectly focused is the trick!)
+emart 3:25:48 He's on his last frog from this point on...those aren't his lives, that's what level he's on. The lives are the frog icons in the bottom left corner.
Great game. Time was a huge success with games like Moon Patrol. I still remember how you blow a all cash for chips to play them. Ah memories, memories. :)
The thing with the rollover score and round number...The programmers probably thought that no one is ever going to get 100,000 points on this or get past the 15th round!
La chose qui m'a toujours fait rire dans ce jeu, c'est que la grenouille perd une vie quand elle tombe dans l'eau. Or, depuis quand qu'une grenouille ne peut pas aller sous l'eau mdr
So wait... do you play until you lose 1 life? I skimmed through the video and it looked like he had like 12+ frogs at the end... Is tournament mode play until you die once or?
3:25:48 He's on his last frog from this point on...those aren't his lives, that's what level he's on. The lives are the frog icons in the bottom left corner.
It's nice to see how it's being played at different points in the game...I've gotta put up my best Dig Dug score and the world record videos are the best resource I can find.

The second death was the best. Frogs are more useful as otter food than as smears on asphalt.
how many racks did he clear?
What I want to know is when does he pass GLC's high score of 860,630?
You beat George Costanza's high score of 860,630. Well played!
The music would drive me crazy after about ten minutes. Props to this admirable player!!
Fuck off! Frogger had one of the best gameplay music in the history of videogames!
@@djshotty Woah, calm down! Other people have different opinions. That's part of life.
Thumbs up for the record and for playing for 4.5 hours straight!

+madco woodcraft Excellent story - those were the days.
Yes. I totally agree.
I don't believe that you got to that score in a bar. It would take hours to do. The distractions from other people in there would a pain in the ass.
@Neuromancer It took the person in this video only 30 minutes to hit 100000 so it can be done easily in under an hour.
@@CHIEFS_DYNASTY_ Wow, how original, idiot.

This Don Hayes score was beat in 2017 by score 1,033,790 (replay is on MARP) ;-P. Good work Don!

So it took George Costanza from Sienfeld this long to get his score in frogger? Lol!!!
"Seinfeld".

It's not sad, Frogger is great!
That would have taken an extra 8 bytes. Back then, that would add $1k to the price of the game!
@@brado426789 bits, if anything. 8 bytes is 64 bits, enough to store values up to 18446744073709551615 in int form
I understood after 40" (honestly after 10...) you've been a great player of this game. Watch out, I recognized you! :-D
Great game play. I could never do this, whether it is from the actual arcade machine or from any MAME platform.
exceptional gameplay ! You would not have been my friend back in the days as you blocked the arcade machine just for too long !
Yeah, just on one ten pence too. Lolol.
Great game, but like many games from back then it doesn't really get any harder after a certain point, around level 8 or so. So if you can stay focused you can play this forever (but staying perfectly focused is the trick!)
Yeah, staying focused for this long is definitely a challenge. That’s why the world record is at where it is.
Another one of Donald Hayes amazing scores on both the arcade & mame platforms.
The thing that always bugged me bout this game is that it ignores the fact that frogs can swim!
BTW, how many different songs does this play?
You have to be a maniac to be this good
I'm determined to beat this...my 2020 goal!!!
Well, did it happen yet!? Never give up on your dreams!

Grew up with this game. I think on the Atari version you were allowed to go off the board though at least on the easy setting?
Great game. Time was a huge success with games like Moon Patrol. I still remember how you blow a all cash for chips to play them. Ah memories, memories. :)
Moon Patrol was my fav Atari 2600 game, along with Pitfall :)
1:25:48 Best song in the game
Nice job! Anyway, I have great memories!
Happy birthaversary Frogger🎉🎂🎁🎈🎊🐸
congratulations! you've just beaten George castand's record in frogger
I wish I could do this to win a Guinness World Records certificate.
I noticed part of the URL Spells “Back”!

I noticed a flaw...the game I have starts out on the first remote control looking thing has a pattern of 1 then 2 not 3!!!
Why does the version that I play have much much less logs and turtles?
The only frog that can't swim
Good job
... did i actually watch the whole 4 hours and 36 minutes ... and it went by very quickly
Theres 2 types of people in this world.. people who don't watch 4 hours of frogger on a video and liars
Why did the Frog Cross the Road? He Didn't!
Near the end, the sounds don't match up with the video at all.
George Costanza has nothing on this guy.
George had 860.630 in 1988 without having the cabinet at home...I'd say that's something
a wie ktos jak te animacje zrobic na dodatkowe punkty?
That's a lot of Frogger! sheesh
The title of the video says 881,150 , but the score he has at the end is 81,150.🤔
Never mind. It resets at 100,000

Congrats
Well the levels are there
dig that Moonwalking snake on the log,in the river..lol,and it happens a lot :P

is the input file available?
Thing I hate is that it doesn't at least go to a million points.
Edit: I meant the score counter, not the score.
What makes frogger turn red ?
My highest score is 10,990, on level 3.
3:06:34 how frog became red?

Don beats my score in 4 minutes!!
I just started Frogger on MAME and it has two extra lives not four. What gives? This version is what ISIS plays.
Ahh, can be switched.
KhazeDUB how good sir?
I wish I had 10 lives to start the game with. That way, the bonus lives will not be necessary. Just my 2 cents. :)
My high score is 1, 523, 960

No Cheats?
Starting off with 3 frogs, as the rest of us? He has been doing some modifications.
