@@monikawiedmann8594 I think she addressed this. Report report report! Laura can't do a lot because it's a UA-cam problem. But she's not on SnapChat or Telegram or any of those things.
You could put hold downs on the trailer for the Aluminum Boxes. Then have boxes loaded for different type work. i.e. wood, metal and measurement boxes. Load the trailer with the boxes you need.
They must be the standard 40*60 cm, made to fit the euro-pallet at 2x2. The cargo bike reflects that. It can't be easily made to fit the whole 80cm wide pallet, though, because 80cm is also some legal limit + it fits most doors.
Make a list of every tool you've carried back and forth between houses. Write down every tool you use in the next 2 weeks and put a hash mark for every time you use it.

I'm so happy I found Laura via the house restoration videos - she's one of my favorite makers on UA-cam now. you can always tell how energized she is by engineering solutions like this.
I've had my ebike for just over a year now and didn't know that I needed a carlacargo trailer until now. Thank you, Laura. This changes everything. lol
On the trolley, you definitely need a miniature air compressor. While it does require power, it can do so much, from inflating tires to driving a nail gun. Also, the saw could be set-up like an old sewing machine. Open the top which becomes the out-feed table, raise the blade and go. And maybe have some side-mounted removable tool boxes where you could select to put either mechanical tools or wood working tools. And maybe add a "party in a box" option 😁
I think the aluminum box concept is going to be cool. The basic set of tools is always there. You can swap out a box of wood working tools for a box of mechanical items. You might consider the layout so that you can use part of the set up as a bench or workplace.
Hammer, chisel, level. Pencil, scribe, tape measure, Leatherman....you have SO many tools, good luck. I'd do an aluminum box for different stages: a demolition box, a building box, a finishing box, a painting box. I think most people watching would like to hang out with Laura and her team cause they just have soooo much fun!! Hugs from 🇨🇦
I'm in the states, Florida. In my area, contractors & handyman services, most have enclosed trailers they bring to jobs with tools of their trade. They can have what they need on site, extra screws, nails, etc. Everything is enclosed so protected from the weather, theft, don't have to unpack and reload each day, just restock as necessary. They have shelves, racks on both sides and usually keep the middle open for hauling larger materials. Some are pretty darn cool the way they're set up.
That is so cool! All you need is a universal joint at the steering point and you can easily sit in the back and steer without having to make crazy swings with the handle.
As you were talking about the table saw, I looked over at my sewing machine cabinet and thought of a folding top that could extend work surface for larger boards. Then you went there and I smiled big. Then you took it to a butterfly top and I squee'd (a 58 year old man squeeing is one of the most joyful sounds ever!). I have no clue how it's going to look when it's finished, but I know it will be beautiful and very functional. Thanks for the fun and exciting continuing saga!

Hi Laura, what a great piece of gear. When thinking about your top I thought of a side and lid combined. It would be hinged along a side so you have a bench. If you want more flip the whole side and top out on the other side. You would have a huge work top and when locked it locks down. The larger work surface would need legs too. Then there is weight, Aluminium framing may help there. Your Aluminium crates were such a great find and you will be creating all sorts of things from them. I enjoy your enthusiasm and humour. Keep up the great work.
What a great idea.! I've had an ebike for a few years now, and I've never thought of using it this way. If you bring any power tools that need plugs, you may want to consider adding a small gas generator like a Yamaha 2600C to power them. Battery powered tools are wonderful until the battery dies, and you don't have a way to recharge them.
Great idea! I would keep it modular. The first Module should hold your basic tool set. The second one for e.g. metal works, the third for constructive wood works and so on. Don't forget a module for coffee station, cool drinks and bbq. Systainer drawers! And storage for long material. Endless possibilities...

I don't have the kind of workshop and hobbies you have, but what I would pick based on the things I have found myself needing over the years for like, routine stuff at home: 1. tools for measuring - measuring tape, ruler/straight-edge, protractor/angle transfer tool, etc. 2. tools for cutting - wood saw, metal saw, electric saw, angle grinder 3. tools for making holes - drill with bits (wood, metal, masonry, and step drill bits) 4. tools for (dis)assembling - screwdrivers, wrenches 5. tools for joining - hammers, welder, soldering iron 6. consumables - screws, nails, bolts and washers, metal stock, wood stock, pipes, cables, sockets, plugs, lamps, bulbs
Using your aluminum boxes, you might be able to make some portions of this modular. In other words, certain items could be swapped out/in depending on the job. You keep some core tools on it all the time, then add a module for extended woodworking or metalworking or electrical tools. Maybe a container for extra battery power in case you are not near outlets. Maybe you could make a mini DJ unit with speakers and lights built in? Maybe a portable grill? Geez now you got me excited too! 🙂. OK I just looked at the other comments and see most of my ideas already in there. Looks like we are all excited to see what you do with this!
I would recommend welding a chain to the bike a a lock loop to the cart. This can have 2 functions, 1 prevent the trailer from being stolen and if the hitch fails, it acts as a backup.
5: Putting the Bike Repair Kit on the Trailer 4: Construct a barbecue bar on the trailer 3: Build a music DJ machine on the trailer 2: Build a small science lab on a trailer 1: Build a wood processing module on the trailer The above is my idea, please refer to
What an awesome concept! Many awesome concepts, actually. The bike trailer, the mobile workshop, the suitcase battery... all very cool. My main suggestion for stuff to bring is a first-aid/emergency roadside kit. I also recommend a loading ramp, a horn that can go either "meep meep" or play "Ride of the Valkyries," and a little sign on the back that says "If you can read this, you're too close to me." Also, a gladius to hold when you ride in it, just to complete the post-apocalyptic doom chariot look.
Cool trailer!! Make your fold out top supports attach to the trailer. Hauling large flat things would be easy!! Put a two piece "cage" on top when everything is folded up. Use the cage for loose items and for securing the contents below.....when you are in public! Good luck!!!
Such a beautiful trailer! Please be mindful of vibrations and water/dust that will impact your tools and metal much more/differently than in your workshop. Especially vibrations impacting electronics. Lastly, get a solid set of different length/hook bungees. You can never have enough bungees!
This has serious potential, Laura! If you design everything around the boxes, make them work as shelfs/drawers, you can have a working surface on top and then you just need to adapt the tools that you want/need to those boxes, making them interchangeable. I started out thinking it was going to be a cool, but not useful, gadget, but now I’m sold! Duuuude!!
I love to follow you in your thought process when conceiving new stuff! I'm currently not able to do much due to my housing situation but your videos help me greatly keeping my brain active and curious! 🤘
For our projects we had a whole Caddy filled. Lots of tools, materials/room for materials. Storage. You named it all Laura. No doubt you'll have a lot of fun tinkering on this little cart
Put always carry items to fenders facing inward. Slimmed down aluminum or like stuff. Middle for open box swap area with lid hinged from front. Then over sides some extra wings that fold up for more work area. Then some boom to hold sunshade.
You should have “woodworking box”, “the welding box” and so on. And add whatever boxes are needed on each case (e.g. usually don’t bring the welding box to the new house)
Might I suggest solar panels on top of the 2 butterfly fold out tops, then cover them with a thick clear panel to protect the solar panels when you need to use the top surface to work on. This will allow charging of the batteries when it is sitting idle. Add a head light, turn signals & brake lights. Make a place for work lights on portable stands to store away when not in use. These can easily be removed and stood up for working at night. For music, add the Bluetooth speakers below, down facing, to protect them from weather. Add a dust collection system with a slide out bin to empty saw dust. Below the fold out butterfly tops, add a wheel locks that can be turned from lock wheels, to free wheeling once you unlock the 2 tops. Finally add biometric lock & security so only approved persons can move / operate this workshop.
So: slide on/slide off modular decks with different fittings for various containers to lock to (Tannos) or fit between (Aluminium boxes) or complete setups such as a mini-bar with a cooler and an optional BBQ. Some tubes/sockets at the corners so you can put plastic pipe risers in to support a fabric roof if its too sunny or rainy (Medieval market booth). Definitely the 'butterfly' hinged top deck to keep everything in the boxes from bouncing out, and put a lock on it so no one can 'help themselves' to the contents without a key. You can hinge 2-4 swing out triangular supports to the trailer for when the deck is unfolded.
I'm imagining a colourful and fun stylised old school bicycle ice cream vendor cart but instead of opening the top to ice cream it is your workshop! :) With colourful lights and the umbrella would look perfect. Could put side rails on to support the top openings becoming benches and when closed the side rails could be used to lash down your roadside treasure finds!
I think the most important thing, beyond the tools for the mobile workshop, would be a source of power to those tools. Maybe a battery case with a mobile solar panel, or something like that. I'll keep watching to see the developments. Thanks for sharing those experiences.
I love seeing Simone and puppies! This is a cool cart, and it is incredibly cool with the electric bike. I am excited to see it transform. Have a great day!
That is just the coolest thing, wowza. I love it. And I KNEW aluminum boxes would figure - yay! :D The butterfly-opening top/lid is perfect for protection/anti-theft and doubling your work space. Every mobile workshop needs....DUCT TAPE! :D Also called 100-MPH Tape because it was used during the Vietnam War to repair helicopter rotor blades, and could withstand winds up to 100 miles per hour (160kph).
Oh my gosh that mobile workshop would be great. Idea how about hydronics platform inside to lift inner table with table saw bolted to it. Flip the top and the inner table comes up with equipment so cool.👍👍👍
As always, aluminium box compatible 🤣🤣 If it was me, I'd make it partially like a stand where the fixed parts are; storage, extendable bench, etc (of course, not too bulky or obstructive to pair with the bike), and the rest to pack a few removable aluminium boxes or as free standing space. I don't know what Laura would do, but this is an interesting project to watch!
I saw somebody on You Tube build a camper with a clear hooped roof, out of a simular little trailer, so you can see the stars and the moon, nice when it's raining
What an awesome product Love the build series Love all the hard work My 2 cents starting with the bike I would do side saddle bags leather or denim or heavy canvas
For tools and materials that you need to have regardless of the job, I would build tool chest in front, behind and above the wheels. So that you increase your space from the ground up but Don't increase the footprint of the trailer. Some old US Mechanic Pickups had this. This way you can keep the cargo space in the middle empty for specific materials for this job or something you find on the road or boxes with specialised tools for the job. On top I would make a removeable lit as a workspace that can be used on the trailer but also is free standing. Maybe a place for a big enough generator for power tools.
I would keep it basic with the tools. the more weight to heavier the pull on the batteries. You can always go pick up or load up special tools for certain jobs.
I love the idea of a mobile workshop. We never seem to have what we need when away from home. I wonder if you thought about more like a workbench that fits on the trailer. You know the kind of workbench with space for the table saw with an opening top like you mentioned that creates workspace along the sides. There could be storage underneath the top for the track saw, drills, grinder, battery charger, screwdrivers, chisels, hammers, measuring tools, hand planer, sander, clamps and supplies like sandpaper, tape and paint. And peg holes in the top so you can secure items when working and possibly even secure a small miter saw that is stored underneath. You have a limit on weight, but I do not believe you would really run into a limit for stuff. And the very best part . . . When it is all closed up the closed top is a spot to put the items you find along the trip! You just need cargo straps to secure whatever you find to the frame of the trailer! :) Also, tell me what do you think about one side being a locked cover that when removed doubles as a table? So many possibilities, I need to get one too!! I love your videos, they are so inspiring.
Think about a light weight roof with flexible solar panels for charging. Lifts up pin it in place have your speakers and led lighting on it tada you also have a solid top covering everything in the trailer.
I'm picturing a giant one of those old metal toolboxes that fold open at the top. And don't forget the humble hand tools! A couple adjustable wrenches, wire cutters, and a soldering iron.
When you build a frame to register the boxes in, you could make it slightly raised so that the aluminium boxes aren't resting directly on the trailer floor. That way, you can store full lengths of sheet materials/planks/beams underneath the boxes by sliding them in from the rear!
Absolut krasser Hänger 😮 This would be perfect for my beekeeping Business, i could Take 8-10 hives directly to the fields where the most honey could be harvested by my 🐝🐝🐝
Laura, I love your videos! They're not only comical. But they're inspirational! And seeing this video, I can't stop thinking about what options are for doing something like this here in the states! I'm in southern Indiana! And I really in a way want to set up a mobile workshop. However I've already got a hair ton pickup truck. And it's a great work truck so, you've really got me thinking about innovating my truck and I'm making it into remodel.. So with all that said! Thank you for your awesome content Laura! Keep up the great, and truly inspirational videos! Take care!!
I would do a modular system myself, but that’s because I’m a jack of all trades, so I never consistently have the same two kinds of things to do in a row. One day it could be plumbing, another day electrical, another day woodwork, another rough-ins, another landscaping, etc etc. So I already have one of those modular toolboxes I just chuck in the car and go.
I will bring 12V drills (impact driver and drill) Set of drill bits, and hole saws. Japanese hand saw two chisels, one hand planer leves and squares Your saw foldable saw horses sand paper, knife, stud finder Box of screws pliers and clamps extension cord radio and shop lights Cooler, for your beer. Very glad to see you enrolled in a new project, best of lucks
Maybe the front half is more cabinet style storage for hanging tools and charging batteries and it’s high enough where can hang a work light and the back half folds out to the side and the back so you can have lots of table space but a slot for each saw depending on what you need. And maybe along the sides underneath You can pull out the metal bins or have little shelves
I'd recommend a small generator as an essential part of your gear for extending your driving range and to charge your tool batteries at offgrid worksites.
Ha! This is fun! I wonder about whether it's possible for it to achieve the degree of practicality necessary to truly be useful, though. I mean, even Laura Kampf can jump a Shark once in a while
I'm thinking a modular setup, with the boxes in mind. Have a basic frame that holds a variety of configurations, and have some boxes ready to go with different sets of tools. Leave space for materials and you're set!
I would suggest setting constraints. Like should be functional in the space (Grundflache) of a transit van as that may be all the space available. Don’t assume a flat or even ground, so be able to adapt. You’ll need sun shade and rain cover. Know the weight everything, 200 Kg is not a lot save room building materials. Most important have fun!
That looks like fun. It's cool that it hooks up to an electric bike too. Consider building a smaller version of the English knock-down bench (on the cover) from the November 2015 issue of Popular Woodworking magazine, if you're looking for tools. I have a 100 inch length version that I can take apart and load into my vehicle in under 10 minutes and take anywhere it's needed. Just the right amount of beefy in a portable format. I do have a Benchcrafted Criss-Cross Solo built in to one leg, but that's not a requirement.
Make sure the trailer is lockable to the bike, how about solar panel to recharge the batteries? Need more tail lights so people will not run into you; of course all LEDs. Just make sure that it's all lockable and weather proof.
I love how Simone just shows up in the video like she lives there
as far as i know shes over for a visist and i bet a video :D
And then lies down and drives the trailer 😂
The most Simone drive-by appearance

@@alsanova Not a bad idea. Might be a better idea to rig it so the trailer hits the breaks if it comes loose.

For our projects we had a whole Caddy filled. Lots of tools, materials/room for materials. Storage. You named it all Laura. No doubt you'll have a lot of fun tinkering on this little cart
That would be the easy and practical solution, but not very "Laura" :-)
Oh! I didn't even realize this video was brand new when I started watching it. Now I know my Sunday mornings come with cool new Laura videos! Awesome!
@MrsLauraKampf 😍❤
That braking power is insane! Just amazing. Sooo much excitement and great adventures to come! Laura, your channel just keeps getting better!
With 5 tires on a mobile "shop" you are certain to get a flat tire, or two. I would have a tire repair kit at all times. Billy
Thanks!
With the butterfly lid, you can add a mechanism that lifts the table saw the necessary centimetres when you open it to have it all on the same plane.
I don't drive cars. I just ride a bike. Good solution for mobile atelier. Big hug from Brazil. Tks, N
@MrsLauraKampf Is it truth? Your videos I consider gifts already, is there still something else?🌹
@LauraKampf
(1) test theoretical weight allowances with current configuration on HILLS before you start.
(2) keep center-of-gravity low
@MrsLauraKampf oh, I'm so excited. Just give me your transit, branch, and account number and I'll reach out.
My two favorite youtubers in one video. Love the videos with Simone so much.
As always, aluminium box compatible 🤣🤣
If it was me, I'd make it partially like a stand where the fixed parts are; storage, extendable bench, etc (of course, not too bulky or obstructive to pair with the bike), and the rest to pack a few removable aluminium boxes or as free standing space. I don't know what Laura would do, but this is an interesting project to watch!
I saw somebody on You Tube build a camper with a clear hooped roof, out of a simular little trailer, so you can see the stars and the moon, nice when it's raining
What an awesome product
Love the build series
Love all the hard work
My 2 cents starting with the bike I would do side saddle bags leather or denim or heavy canvas
You can always go pick up or load up special tools for certain jobs.
i made a wagon kind of like this, still working on the battery part of it. I call it the Chooch Wagon!
@LauraKamp- Pardon? Sorry, please forgive my confusion. How can I help?
@@neilbond2482 Its a fake account made to scam people
And I can't wait for the contraction!!!
As a workbench it might be worth considering a Paulk style workbench. It could still function as your lockable lid with a little tweaking.
systainer style cnc-ed tool caddy organizers for your aluminum boxes, framing tools, finish tools, plaster tools plumbing basic kit, electrical kit, cleanup kit broom, vac large dustpan, step stool ladder, bora centipides with folding mft top. 2 18" hollow core doors . clamps power cords, nailguns, cooler, attitude
Absolut krasser Hänger 😮
This would be perfect for my beekeeping Business, i could Take 8-10 hives directly to the fields where the most honey could be harvested by my 🐝🐝🐝
that hitch needs a security line, like any trailer hitch has. just a rope and a biner would do
Meow Wolf! Represent. Woot woot! And William Ellery! Dingo Dango! 🎉
Take care!!
I can't wait to see this finished.
I will bring
12V drills (impact driver and drill)
Set of drill bits, and hole saws.
Japanese hand saw
two chisels, one hand planer
leves and squares
Your saw
foldable saw horses
sand paper, knife, stud finder
Box of screws
pliers and clamps
extension cord
radio and shop lights
Cooler, for your beer.
Very glad to see you enrolled in a new project, best of lucks
watching your videos on Sunday is my favorite thing!!
Small pieces of wood. Wedges. Dowels. Pencils. Sharpies markers. Bowie knife. Drill bit gauges. Drill bit set.
I'd recommend a small generator as an essential part of your gear for extending your driving range and to charge your tool batteries at offgrid worksites.
Yay! I love it! Well done!! Butterfly open! Yes!❤
Ha! This is fun! I wonder about whether it's possible for it to achieve the degree of practicality necessary to truly be useful, though. I mean, even Laura Kampf can jump a Shark once in a while
i drove that trailer at velo berlin, absolutely amazing how easy it was!
Yeah definitely something like space for a hot swap module for different materials. Main one I can think of is metal work welder
If you design around standardized modules, you could replace the tool and material modules with BBQ and mini-keg modules on the weekend.
Love watching you brainstorm and problem solve for a project! Bravo to your sponsors too.
The joy is palpable, I look forward to the build. Consider the *swivel out sideways* action as an alternative to *flip top*
She also needs a slide out camper along the lines of what Paul Elkins makes.
@MrsLauraKampf Lucky winner??? For what? Sorry but I'm lost here.
@MrsLauraKampf I'm just thrilled that you even took time to read my comment. I'm talking to "The Laura Kampf".... yahoo!!
I love it when you rode it like a chariot! 😂 When you get the music set up you should play "Parade of the Charioteers" from Ben-Hur.
