Hi Annette! Quite frankly, almost ALL of my sewing these days is no measure, no think. I got so tired of all the demand for accuracy it became not so fun and relaxing. Now I mostly make crazy quilts because you can just sort to colors, make a pile you like and grab scraps and sew. It is more relaxing for me and the quilts still come out looking good. I did just buy a book called East Quilts West by a Japanese lady that has some gorgeous quilts with just a few templates I may take on. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for your comments Paula. There are just some days when I need to just sew! Obviously some of the things I do (FPP birds) require precision, but when it's time to relax it can be such fun!
Totally agree Paula! Nothing wrong with using new (or old) techniques and tools that can improve one's accuracy and skills, but I swear I roll my eyes at all the UA-cam quilting gurus who are OBSESSED with "perfection" or try to sell you on the latest gadget or other (like a strip tube ruler, when a regular old square ruler with a 45° line will work!). Sometimes you just want to lose yourself in the creative process and not worry about whether or not you're achieving some sort of standard of perfection.
I like that you create different color groups first. The viewpoint of sewing the strips end to end with one edge being straight is something that I enjoy doing. Liz in Houston
I love it!!! After a lifetime of "precision" sewing I've always admired the wonky carefree quilting. I've wondered how anyone could possibly sew so crooked, there was no way I could be ok with that. I recently found your channel and am enjoying your videos immensely. I recently found 100% cotton sheets and duvets at 2nd hand and am getting ready to go wonky!! I just cant do any polyester content .... yet! Thank you so much for sharing ❤
You are so welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed! My channel is all about having FUN with our hobby! It should be fun and happy most of all. :-). These sheets were 100% cotton, with an old tag that says Sears Roebuck & Co. :-)
Hi there! I have been making little dog blankets with crumb blocks and an old sheet on the back. I just put the video up. Good idea to actually use the sheet and cut it up though. I put the end bits of the sheet I used into my “light” scrap box.
Great results. I’ll look forward to seeing how you combine the different size blocks. Maybe pillows? I’m going to check thrift stores for printed sheets. Thanks
Hi Annette, I loved this quilt so much so I made my own version, for Project Linus. I wanted to send you a photograph but couldn’t find a way to attach it to the comment 🤷♀️
Ahh thanks for asking!! I forgot to add it to the description, so fixed that. It is: Music royalty-free "Blue Mountains" Gabriel Witcher, you can find it on UA-cam by itself! 👍🏼. Thanks for watching
Thanks 🙏 for giving me hope that I can conquer that Stash Mountain without getting too many headaches. 😂❤🎉
You are very welcome!
