Spring Salmon Have Arrived at middle Tweed! Fly Fishing Scotland 2024

- It's spring and I'm fishing for salmon on the middle part of the River Tweed, on a beat called Tweedswood. The River Tweed is a beautiful world renowned fishing destination. A worthy contributor to the reputation of fly fishing in Scotland.
In this salmon fishing vlog I share insights into the techniques I use, fly choice, and strategies. While very early in the 2024 spring season, there is still a chance for the odd salmon or sea trout. After years of trout fishing, I turned my hand to salmon fishing last year. I'm based in the Scottish Borders with the River Tweed on my doorstep.
Subscribe and join me fly fishing for salmon and trout throughout Scotland and beyond. Tight lines!
Love your videos Tam, likewise also keen mountain biker so love your other videos too, I have been fly fishing for 40 odd years, mostly for Browns and Grayling via euro nymphing, but this past while I have been going for salmon, I have caught salmon, grilse and sea trout when euro nymphing , but never when I have been trying to catch them, but going by your 200 hours.. I may still have another 100 hours before I get one 😂 great videos
Hi Richard, I’m glad you are enjoying the videos on both channels.
Bikes and fishing is definitely the way to go! 👌
Yeah ,salmon fishing is tough! You really need to spend some hours on the river but once you get the pull it’s just amazing!
Just keep doing what you doing and I’m sure you will get one soon!
that's such a beautiful spot. great video! thanks
Lovely place to fish!
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video.
Nice video. This morning I booked a day at Tweedhill in late April. And then I found your channel - good catch. If you have any products like Flex Seal you should try it before you buy new waders. Looking forward to more video intel on those rivers. Thanks
Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
Good stuff, I have never fished there but it looks good. Hope you get one 👍
I did patched the waders couple times all ready and this time I couldn’t find the leak.
So I have decided to treat my self to new once 😉
Nice beat that! I haven't fished there in a long time! You've encouraged me to go back!
It really is!
My first time there but definitely not the last time.
I would go back if you can, fishing will only get better from now on there 🙂
Good to have you on the beat see you again soon 🎣🎣🎣
Thanks for keeping me right, best Ghillie out there! 👊
Well early season is hard graft...
safe wading and casting.
Will be downstream on Lees in April for my annual Tweed pilgrimage
trying with a Gledswood and Willie Gunn...and maybe a Jingler or Greenwell if the Olives and March browns start hatching

Hi, Simon
Yes, it is! I have been told that I need to be at the right place at the right time.
Sounds easy but…
Not too long to April now, I bet you are counting days 🙂
Hope you have a great trip once it comes 👊
Hope you buy a trout permit then.

Indeed yes.
Well at least and my rod licence in case I find myself too close to the Merrie England bank...as I did and fished from Carham for 23 years...
Try a black and yellow that normally works well
Yes definately Phil..well proven spring colours for the Tweed...either as a tube or waddington
Good fishing Tam, looks like some nice water too!
Thanks, appreciate it.
Really nice place to fish, can’t wait to go back!
Seen some of your videos actually, keep them coming 👍
Nice. He's back! Just chilling on the river with you dude 😎
Thanks mate, come fishing sometime 😎
@@Hookedonfly that'd be great 👍
Anothher great video Tam, thanks for sharing. Congratulations and well done for your perseverance. Personally Not liking the amount. of upstream mending as (for me) it slows the fly way down.
Thanks
All we can do is keep trying haha
Yes I like to mend a lot and fish the fly slowly through the water where I think the fish could be.
Brilliant watch mate
Thanks, im glad you enjoyed the video 👍
Well done mate you are going to get that springer soon .
Thanks, I will try my best 👍
Keep hitting those rapids! Good Luck man!
Cheers, will do 👍
@@Hookedonfly Also if see any jumping on the way up towards you, be ready to set that hook! They’re coming!

Hi Robert,
You can only buy day permits, I paid £35 for a day at this time of the year.
It’s all on fishpal, nice and easy.
Price goes up gradually through the season up to £270 😵💫 for peak time.
Near Newstead?
Yes, not far away from there 👍
How much does it cost for a day of fishing?
