Man, not machine. DJ is proof that training and consistency are the most important elements to success. Muscle memory, not 2000k+ guns. He could probably repeat this hanging upside-down with a Rossie 38 if he had to because the fundamentals are so ingrained. Shows that whatever sighting system you have, it is an aid but not the answer to putting in the time. Awesome, thank you.
Im going to do the training to gain muscle memory with my $2000 gun. I want reputable, proven guns and optics. Defending yourself and your loved ones may have a price limit, but i dont one bit.
One of the most influential people in my life atm. British army lad, gym everyday and striving to be my best version . DJ is a rare human if this guy doesn’t make you tick then no one will ❤
Man, I've said it before, and I'll say it again. These guys are the goats. They never make me feel like I'm being talked down to, or like I'll never understand cause I'm a civvy. They consistently present their real-world knowledge in such a way that it's easy to understand. Love what they do. Also, wanna mention that they're huge influences on me getting myself off the couch and working on my weight-loss. 🤙
I agree man. Sometimes the mil guys can make you feel like they’re so far ahead of us, but we’re husbands and fathers who have families to protect as well, and it’s so refreshing when their style of teaching isn’t condescending. Would easily pay for some classes from guys like this.
This is a very important learning for anyone who ccw's or any LE who will be taking fast, unaimed natural point of aim shots at close quarters whilst under stress, The agency I work for explained something similar to this, Although we were taught to use the front site post and taught to focus on the target and just bring the gun up so the front site covers the target, for fast shots at close range, but DJ's explanation delves more into the why and the backplate makes more sense as it's a bigger and more readily achievable reference point to centre over a target than the site post itself.
Being a good teacher is also being a good learner. I can see a lot of what’s being taught here is the building upon what y’all learned from Daniel Horner about instinctive shooting. Love to see it!
We do offer our open enrollment classes for MIL/LE and Civilians. Give us a follow in all our social media platforms for class announcements for next year.
@@GBRSGroup next time you’re in Colorado or if ever, I’ll see you there. Check out Empire Gun Range in Wiggins Co. Warrior Poet Society did courses there frequently. If you guys ever make it out this way, I’d be the first to sign up. Great range for just about any platform.
This was fun to watch because as an older guy who transitioned from irons recently, that’s how I shoot irons. The transition to the dot was very easy because I had built that natural point of aim so the sights show up aligned and on target. I’m just a hair faster with a dot because there’s only one thing to confirm. Cool thing for the young guys that learned on a dot.
First seen DJ on the shawn ryan show years ago. These knowledge transfers are so helpful I usually watch a few and some others to inspire me to take the time with the basics. Pays dividends. Thank you and please keep it up. The rifle drills as well!
Good video, start off slow and steady then slowly build up. In the early 80s as a kid I wanted to get good with nunchucks without looking. I started off slow eyes open, staying slow I transitioned to blindfolded. I slowly built up speed and got to where I could keep a steady humm while going around my body. I was told by a 3rd degree black belt I was at a black belt level. I learned the above caused me to have very fast reflexes. Keep up the good methodology on you train yourself and your students.
Get the weapon that feels the best in your hands. Great information, when it fits your hand everything else DJ speaks about is easier to master and train on.
The supreme confidence for a guy this level to show his mistakes. A great leader in this community and a great lesson focusing on what matters. Thanks, DJ.
Really cool to have stumbled across your channel , just getting serious about shooting and I was literally working on these mechanics. Really good to see someone with more experience preference the same thing lets me know I am on the right path. Thanks for the content!
As my live range time is limited , I do this NPOA drill with a SIRT P320 model. Don’t look at the sights , just at the target and can see the laser hits as I trigger
Thank you DJ, and GBRS. Your channel alone has allowed me the opportunity to drastically improve with my side arm and rifle. I currently am running a P320 (X5). These nuggets are priceless. And my times and splits have sped up insanely. Thank you brothers 🤙🏽🇺🇸
The trick is to start slow and get comfortable with it. Grip, stance, trigger prep, presentation…everything. From there slowly progress. People tent to rush to it. Rome was not built in a day.
Got to be one of the best instructional videos I’ve ever watched on improving your handgun shooting! 🔥🔥🔥 Makes me want to take my sights off of my Glock 19!!! 🤣
I'm glad you guys cut the comments back on. Fuck these guys that try to shit on your operations and are critical for no fucken reason. Keep up the great work! You guys got me back to training and Im in the best shape of my life at 44 years old. Bill drills, mental and spiritual health. Keep it up and fuck the haters. The brothers love yall!
can I ask and say I enjoy the information and channel but also wanted to ask what oakley clear lenses dj shipley wearing I wanted a pair for work any info would be greatly appreciated. keep up the great work.
I noticed in the interior shooting range clips that DJ has a habit of exhaling usually around when his support hand connects with the gun during his presentation. I wonder if that's just habit or if there is a physiological mechanic (i.e. holding your breath to steady a shot) to doing so.
@GBRSGroup Dj, what are your thoughts on accuracy vs grouping when doing drills at the range? Do you even worry about that, or do you just worry about hitting the headshot T-box or center mass A-zone?

I learned a lot. Thanks this knowledge transfer was worth my time.

Outstanding value!!!!
If I ever win the lottery, I'm building a range like that.
As someone who went to a pistol optic about a month ago this is gold. It's such a difference in my opinion from irons. Thanks for the knowledge
DJ makes training look awesome and overall comfortable. I hope to somehow take one of his courses. This community is full of naysayers and haters.

Coolest looking gun guy on youtube, in my opinion.

Happy to see someone without a red dot!
He is a machine because of his training
wow thats interesting, I am going to have to re-learn what I was first taught on aiming. Times have changed!

He has said he does it to slow himself down just a bit. I do wonder if he does it when he's really trying to push for speed, just out of habit

Leave it to a Reddit basement dweller to criticize a guy who served his nation in war while their mommy still makes their breakfast every morning.
It's reddit what else did you expect
Yeah, most REDDITORS are jealous they couldn't join , nonetheless do anything that involves something physical
Reddit isn’t worth even looking at anymore.
I like to see those same fat basement Dwellers hating on DJ Shipley to his face..
