You might already know this but I saw a UA-cam video or UA-cam Short and that person was explaining they had learned how to keep their hole in any ice (to access the water below) from freezing over by covering it with fresh pine tree branches or other types of similar branches and then putting some snow on top or at least that's how I remember it. (it seems counterintuitive but maybe it does work.) You can do a search yourself if you're interested in keeping the hole from freezing over. And thank you for this video.
I may sound a little bit dumb here, but I come from a place where we do not get any snow. Can't you cut the top off of a few Totes and fill them with snow and then put them into a small shed with a old wood stove to heat the room and melt the snow and get water from that??
