My wipers had stopped working that morning , as I was going across a bridge, I had a Semi pass me, and completely coated the entire width of my windshield with mud. I was completely blinded with my front vision. I relied on looking out my side window to keep in my lane. It was all i could do to try and remain driving straight until the second i was off the bridge then pulled over. Scariest moment I've ever had in 50 plus years of driving. Lesson Learned. Will never go without wipers again
Wipers are getting fixed guys! No mechanic would replace the motor for me in AK, I barely could get someone to agree to an oil change. We’ll get it squared away now that we’re in the lower 48!

Those of use who travel with our dogs have a bond like know other with our dogs mine is my service dog along with being the only thing i have to talk to sometimes for days ,best life going, going to see what's over there been traveling the appelations where I was raised been in the Daniel Boone and south fork area for the last couple of years been from north GA to mane in these hills my family settled in east ky in the 1700s time to go west next have family in AZ id like to see also CA and Alaska going if I last long enough but takin my time no hurrys

An Australian Shepherd dog has just won the biggest dog show in the UK and he looks just like Blue ! 😂
Blue is such a smart and patient lil man. Its crazy that he just patiently sits outside and doesn't wander off or go chasing a rabbit. My dogs can barely be trusted to make the walk from the car into the house off leash.

I think you’re right. Although I went to a Tim Hortons a few years ago and had the oatmeal. I’m not a real big oatmeal fan, but boy was that great. 😊 I can’t remember if it was cinnamon or apple or something else but it was fantastic. 🥣
TIP on No windshield wipers! slice and then rub down windshield with a potato half.

This is a 1950s trick , my 83 yr old dad taught me !!
Tim Hortons was a Canadian NHL hockey player that quit hockey to make and serve coffee at the arenas. Canadians love their hockey and their coffee. Plus it’s cheaper. Starbucks in the city gets a lot of Canadians, but it came along much later, pretty expensive and more hippy dippy vibe. Back in the day, we only had Tim’s and it sure beat our thermos coffee after 2 - 3 hours in the cold vehicle, or sitting at the arena. 😊❤❤ ☕️☕️☕️

I have a 92 chev lumina, freaking thing has ran forever... but you starting PO reminded me, I do not even try to start my car if its under 10f. That sick little wrarawara noise that says, "no, its too cold and I too old, I no start, grandma, forget it, try me again in the spring!"
But this Montana gal is too old for winter anyway, so I call my sons for errands... and get all my groceries delivered by walmart. And while the snow flies I watch movies and pop into your channel to remind me I don't miss being 'out' in the winter anway -- life is good! 🤪

Flashing green in BC Canada means it's a pedestrian controlled intersection. Light goes from flashing green to steady green to yellow to red when a pedestrian pushes the button. Red means stop. K
I tought flashing green meant you have the right away. Like the light for the cars of opposite direction is red so you can turn. But i am from QC :)

Fellow Canadian here, I agree that timmies coffee is trash. The ice cap on a hot summer day is on point tho. Sometimes they have good specialty doughnuts that are ok. But everything at Tim’s is trash for the most part.

Hey Ria, An old trick to get a clean rear window or windshield that is tougher in those temps is to pick up some snow in a bare hand. You hand melts it a little and makes a wet sponge to wipe the salt and gunk off some. Then you get your hands warm again asap. Keep up the great work.

Not in that climate your hands will freeze in seconds at o colder they freeze sooner wet hands that is bare hands dont last long dry at 20 below

I drove to Alaska with my mom and dog, 30 years ago. I had 2 weeks off from my job, and I know all about the long days of driving. In was July and we camped in tents! On the way back south, I made a wrong turn, and ended up on the Cassier Hwy, which was gravel back then! It rained hard for a couple of days, and washed a small section of the road out! Hwy crews worked on it, and got it passable. I was so thankful I was driving my Nissan Pathfinder! It was an experience I’ll never forget!

Please can you get a ramp for Blue. We travel with our dogs, one who is on chemo and the other who gets joint pain. We always have them harnessed for their safety and they have a compact ramp that we fold out. Please , this is NOT a criticism, it’s just a plea to consider a ramp and harness for Blue. You are a wonderful dog mum. It’ll make it much more easier and safer for Blue. ❤
Yes, and it will help him last longer. My dog lived to 17 years of age. I lifted her up any chance I got!!
@@loluns5029 mine lived past 16 years and we were really big on ramps and harnesses. I’ve seen people lose their dogs because they’ve hit the windshield HARD during accidents and one with a rollover. Harnesses are so important.

I lost my Mum and Dad in the last 3 years, I miss those amazing memories! You should really invest in an oil pan warmer. They sell them up here in alaska. They are magnet pads. A battery-operated air compresser, I'm sure you have noticed cold weather deflates yoyr tires and a battery jump pack. I have all 3, and they are always in the back of my truck in the winter as well as a bunch of other safety stuff.

The three of you should be congratulated for this long drive. Please get new windshield wipers though, I white knuckled it when you were being bombarded with snow. Someone should invent a coffee and diesel station every 50 miles or so. My most favorite album of all time? I'd give my age away if I did that!!!

Come on folks, she ain’t stupid, she knows exactly what she is doing. Just because she is a woman who acts the part (very respectfully I might add) doesn’t mean she is clueless. Seems to me she is smarter than most of us. :)
No one is saying she is stupid or clueless. But driving without wipers, especially in those conditions is dangerous not just for herself but, more importantly for others on the road. Others drivers and maybe even pedestrians. I enjoy these videos and most of the people commenting obviously do too. Stating a fact is different than being rude. It just seems strange that someone who is going to be driving in tough winter conditions and going on these (I'm assuming) "solitary" road trips is not more prepared than this. It's a legitimate concern.
If she had hit someone when backing out of a parking space because she couldn't see out the back and couldn't be bothered to clean it manually, I'm thinking that her reckless and carefree days on the road and this UA-cam Channel wouldn't be as active anymore. I think one can be living this lifestyle but also be prudent and mindful of the world around you.

Ok, it’s not😢 rude or pointless to advise someone to be careful. We need to respect good advice and not take it as an attack on Maria. If your wipers or brake lights went out, you’d get them repaired. Whether, the wipers issue is just for drama, they are very important in snowing and raining conditions. Let’s not reprimand those who are concerned about Maria’s welfare and voice it politely. Repair of wipers is not rocket science and she has certainly been to repair shops quite a number of times.

So, in 2009 i was deployed to Afghanistan with the UN drug enforcement people and had spent 6 months in pretty much nonstop combat. I was rotated back to Kandahar and my first stop was the Tim Hortons on the boardwalk. I went up to the counter and stood there, vapor locked. The middle aged Canadian lady behind the counter came around, held my hand and brought me a coffee and a donut, knowing I was simply overwhelmed with choosing something. So I'm not completely rational about Tim Hortons

Tim hortons (timmies) is hit or miss every time you go but us Canadians are so nice we keep going back to give them a chance.
