I just love you!!! You're right NO ONE is too old for gymnastics or any other sport and you're the best example. I'm 21 and I start cause it seems fun and I like it and nobody stops me from doing that :)
Keren Lima once i was in my school and i have no idea why, i wanted to do backhanpring without mats and when i was about to do it i was like: what the heck are you doing your can hurt your self so badly. This always happend and sometimes i jump but i just fall down in my back😂😂😂
I know I’m literally a year late, but if you open your shoulders around 10 degrees before you do your back walkover, it will look so much better, and it will become super easy to do! I know that you’ve probably improved heaps already, but in case if you did need more help, than there you go! 💖
Coming from a gymnast you're back handspring is really good just try not to sit to much. This is so you have a quicker snap and when you move onto your roundoff back handspring it's not super slow. Just practice not sitting down too much, you never want that to become permanent.
I have a correction that I see a lot with self taught tumblers that may help you! Looking for the ground and sticking your head out is not proper form but more importantly will make your bhs small. Keep your arms by your ears! I know looking at the ground is tempting, but my bhs are always 10x better when I'm not looking at the ground and my head sticks out. Always remember arms my ears!!!!!!!! Block through shoulders, and stay tight!
I have watched TONS of videos on UA-cam about getting over mental blocks and how to get a backhand spring and nothing helped but when I watched this video I finally got the courage to throw it!!
i sprained my neck pretty bad attempting to do a back handspring and i’ve landed it so many times before but after i sprained my neck i couldn’t do it. this helped me so much! thank you!! ❤️❤️
You're truly inspiring, I nearly broke my neck trying to do a back tuck by myself on my mom's bed when I was 6, so I quit anything gymnastics related for like 12 years now am almost 21 and want to do it again, I have my handstands, walkovers and limbers but am just scared of learning any skill involving throwing myself over again, but I'll try it using your techniques...great video!
Linekela Amunyoko thank you! Yeah, you're not 6 anymore! Most likely, if something isn't going right, you'll be able to catch yourself a bit more gracefully because of increased body awareness. If you're unsure, use a spotter too! When I get scared to do the back handspring, I just tell myself that everything will be ok as long as I jump backwards (not to the side), look where I'm going, and put my hands down!! I've heard of it going terribly wrong for people when they don't put their hands down. I've personally never had that happen. The great thing about this method is that you can get a feel for the motion while still landing on a lot of soft cushion if something goes wrong. Be safe! Let me know how it goes!
This helps so much I love how you step into the viewers shows and showing if you hit your head it won't hurt, because some other UA-camrs just say it's okay just get over the fear, but I like how you show us that it won't. Great job!
This is SO COOL! I am 24 and I started gymnastics a year ago and I am TERRIFIED of jumping backwards, but its always something I've wanted to do. Its awesome to know that you taught yourself! Keep up the good work!
I just wanted to say, your form is actually amazing for beginning, and this was super helpful. youre so cute and I loved this video!! I'm about to be 22 and I feel so old but I want to get into tumbling. youre helping me so much!
Honestly this helped me so much that want to give it a try with the cushions and everything. I have done competitive cheer and gymnastics throughout my life. Even though I’m almost 24 and I thought I was having hard time with my strength ability. In reality, it’s just my fear of getting injured. Again, thank you so much for sharing your tips!
I was able to tumble when I was a competition cheerleader growing up, but I lost it as soon as I stopped competing. I would love to learn again! I will be trying this!
This is the most helpful video I’ve seen. I broke my arm doing a back handspring but this helped me a lot with mental blocks and just getting it in general. Thank you!!
This really gave me the courage to go for it. I used your tips last night and was so excited. Nowhere near where you are, but I think I can finally use this to get there.
I would mark the ideal spot to hit on your pile. If the thing you cover the pads w/ has a pattern, like a quilt, that may be sufficient. If not mark it. I'd use 2" wide masking tape. And for when your reduce the pile, tape the perimeter edge of the cussions, so you don't accidentally miss them.
Mary Daubney they are little wrist guards that velcro over your hand / wrist. They protect the wrist from impact. Google them. You can find knock-offs for a better price :)
Ur video helped a lot thank you!! My biggest problem right now is that I need help pushing off more to make my snap down look better but I also need to get over my mental block cus that’s what’s messing me up instead of jumping back further
I like you because you step into the viewers shoes
jada bru same

OMG THIS HELPED SO MUCH I GOT IT SOOOO QUICK
Oh, hey! I started tumbling when I was 26, too! Now I'm 31 and haven't even gotten my bridge kickover thanks to a lack of conditioning.
This helps so much I love how you step into the viewers shows and showing if you hit your head it won't hurt, because some other UA-camrs just say it's okay just get over the fear, but I like how you show us that it won't. Great job!
Great work! Your form is beautiful and these were some great tips 😊
Naima S thank you!

Another tip for u is if u have a mat and trampoline try moving ur mat on the trampoline. It helps to get the feeling
" if you are scared of actually hitting your head, then go hit it
" LMFAO
This is SO COOL! I am 24 and I started gymnastics a year ago and I am TERRIFIED of jumping backwards, but its always something I've wanted to do. Its awesome to know that you taught yourself! Keep up the good work!
