On the journey to my father’s recent funeral, I sat listening to Brothers in Arms AVO Session 2007 on repeat... an utterly beautiful piece of music. The comfort that it brought me at the time was without measure.
Now, I am unable to separate the performance from my memory of that day... it has become so powerfully intertwined.
Thank you Mark, your musicianship has undoubtedly had a profound effect upon me, your interpretation of both words and music has indeed become the soundtrack of my life.

I am an amateur guitarist and the difficult thing about it it's not gaining speed but sounding emotional and play with your soul and not with your fingers. Knopfler and Gilmour...no one can't sound better than this legends.
I am also an amateur guitarist I have been putting in around 4 to 7 hrs everyday for the last 5 years now. I have been playing for 30 years but I didn't take it as serious till 5yeats ago and I now have an addiction I wake up to every morning and I have been dreaming about playing, so I hope that I'm not putting in all this time and have just to think I will even be able to make someone smile I'm to old for the things that a lot of people who learn, I'd love to get together with anyone else
I think Knopfler is better than Gilmore. Maybe Andrew Lattimer is so close to Mark.

His tone...indeed. I have only ever seem him use his Gibson Les Paul for this song. It has a much fatter, soulful tone that of the Fender Strat. An earlier comment says he makes love to his guitar. I figure that is the Les Paul. The Strat he simply shags artfully :-) But what a talent he is! I cannot understand why Keith Richards has been knighted and MK has not.

Without a doubt, this a song that needs to be heard. I was in Q8, witnessed the military corruption. Saw the young guys totally messed up and had no clue. Looking in their eyes, they were like lost souls . I will never forget - I wanted to gather them in my arms and make everything all right and get them home safe. This song is for them.

I saw Knopfler live a couple of years ago. I really love him, and honestly; he is the reason I live. However, i notice that he has lost some of his spark when playing live. Maybe it was because of the cold weather or a bad day though.

Ive never heard the guitar sound so heavenly than when it is being played by mark. For me he is the genius without parallel. I am a guitarist and i can tell you that to emulate this man is the hardest thing ive ever attempted. Thankyou mark for being born.
