- Galaxy Watch 4 LTE Review- The TRUTH About LTE vs Bluetooth!
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 LTE Review is here. I tested all features that you can use on your Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 LTE without a smartphone nearby. Are you planning to get the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 LTE or a Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Bluetooth?

Hope you are having a great day! Have you got any questions wrt to the GW4 LTE, let me know 👇
wanna hear galaxy watch 4 digit bezel vibration sound 🥰
Does find my phone work with lte? I assume it does but curious
Can you turn off the mobile phone function of the watch if you need to save battery to have similar battery life as the version without LTE?
@@Baoran yes, it is also an option...
@@ALLSTARSPACE thanks
You are literally the ONLY tech reviewer I have seen that has mentioned these requirements. Thank you. I find it very misleading that Samsung has not mentioned any of this on their website, or even in the small print.
Subbed after reading this single comment.
Finally someone actually shows how the google maps looks like while using it... All reviews Ive seen so far just mention it and shows the basic menus... thanks! :D
Watch @Flossy Carter he does great reviews
I'm watching this, almost after 6 months. Thank you, really, for the video! This is so detailed and informative. No fancy elemenst, no fancy talks, this is such a mature product review. Wow! Thanks again for this! And hope you guys are all safe, hope she has recovered well from that injury. :)
Great videos, very enjoyable to watch. My use case of the LTE is at the gym. I don’t want my phone falling out of my pocket on the bench press or putting it on the floor like I have been. LTE lets me stream music and still get calls & texts.
Hi! How did you connect it. I have tried everything but it does not work away from the phone.
@@marinazarratea967 The initial step is to add an eSIM to the watch, so that it can work independently and use its own data (i.e. not need the phone's data). Not all carriers support eSIMs though.
Absolutely love your coverage for this watch. Quality videos with quality information.
Much appreciated!
Really appreciated your advice and always enjoy your reviews etc. Gone for the Bluetooth version only because my current carrier doesn't offer e-sim on wearables as yet. Will opt for the LTE version when it's supported. Thanks again for making such quality videos and reviews.
It's been a years .......how long does the battery last now??
I'm actually exited to try out the Galaxy watch 4 "Active" I've never been a fan smart watches but since sprint mobile offered me a exclusive loyal member deal I said why not. They're paying the monthly installments and the LTE line but the only downfall is not having a Samsung phone to take advantage of everything it has to offer. Overall I'm glad I saw this video others don't get in full depth as you.
All of us in Australia still have to wait another 2 weeks until we have our hands on the Galaxy Watch 4.
I definitely will be getting the LTE version of the 4 classic, it's really ridiculous that Australia has to wait at all for any tech.
I was using active 2 LTE and all u said is absolutely correct and from my experience of one year what I have to add is the battery, it's drains 4x faster on stand alone and also hangs and restarts easily..
I was ready to get the LTE but then found out you need to pay for a whole watch contract as well as a phone contract and only from a few providers so it would require so much more money. Thank you for talking about this because it took me so much digging to even find this info
Through my carrier T-Mobile I got the watch for free if I added digit plan for 24 months at $10 per month. So while in end I pay same price if I purchased watch solo I get addition of standalone service. at end of contract I’ll cancel line and use as bluetooth. Or I’ll cancel and start a new watch contract on the next generation 😅
@@kristiel1699 have you seen the battery drain quicker using lte?
@Kristie l how did you get your watch to be standalone. I'm having the worst luck. T-mobile saying that my watch must be a companion to an existing t-mobile phone. Essentially I'm paying for an lte watch plan, but can only use Bluetooth 🤦. Any help is appreciated
its $5
I wish they had this when my grandmother was alive bc the fall protection is amazing. She definitely could have use that cause she fell 2 separate times & broke her hip both times. She could not get to the phone & had to wait hours until we showed up from not being about to get ahold of her. This is a life saver!
True, but is there nothing specially designed for that purpose in your area? Here you can have some sort of homerescue system. When people fall they can press a button on their watch and there is a supporter on the Phone instantly, asking if everything is allright. Should be a lot cheaper than a Smartwatch and you charging is a lot less important factor.
@@Tangierer yes we have the press the button if you fall systems but one time she was unconscious from hitting her head too, so if she would have had her emergency necklace on it wouldn't have mattered. The watch is good bc it automatically calls.
There's been dedicated fall protection gadgets for decades btw.
I got the watch 4 40mm lte and it's quite the upgrade from my Garmin Vivomove HR. The downside is the battery life. Best I've managed is slightly over 30 hours without doing much. Working out and listening to music sans phone is very practical, but an hour and the battery will drop 40% easily. We need to improve on this, and I expect that next year we'll see a totally improved battery technology in all smart things.
How is the battery life as of today... planning to buy... would you recommend me this
Garmin has solar they boast 27 days with 3x hours direct sunlight charging - hope Samsung do a solar watch soon too:)
Nice hands on, with examples! It's looking good! This is a test I'd like to see: Go for a run, with the map navigation on, and the music on, and receiving a call, and some sort of fitness app going, say intervals, with HRM on, and set a timer to time the overall run time. Can it handle all that? Measure the battery consumption for this activity.
Great video! I plan to get the LTE version once available in my region. Would be nice to see how to pair bluetooth earbuds on the watch and then the phone...
Brilliant!!! 1 year later, still so useful!
Great video. you did a great job. You are the one who showed me what this watch can do. Most of the people just talked about the features. but you are practically showed
thanks for the very helpful info about the e-sim, I'm about to get an lte watch4 classic in my carrier's S22 Ultra black edition combo, excited to try these out. Wonder what the battery usage difference between the lte-only and bluetooth-only modes would be
Great review, just one question, when using de spotify app while using the lte version, is it possible to stream music directly from the watch or it will be required to download the songs previously?
I think the best reason for an LTE Smartwatch for me is that i can take it to the beach or swimming pool. I need to be reachable, but especially on the beach there is a risk that the smartphone can be stolen when you are in the water. Problem solved with the LTE Version... it's definitely worth for me
You can go swimming with it?
@@TheMoistDonuts it'S ip68, so you can go swimming with it up to 1.5 meter.
If you swim with in saltwater you will ruin it. The IP68 rating is for freshwater only.
@@tomaslinartas3011 I've swum in the sea in mine (Active 2) many times and its totally fine. Not dived 1.5m but have swum with it yes
Mad respect! I love it. Great video
❤💪🏾❤
Great video mate! Thank You!👍 Very detailed and informative. Actually helping the viewer with all the required information.
This video answered all the questions that I had about the LTE model. Thank you very much for the work you put into this video.
Great no BS and down to earth review! Thank you! Can you please confirm that you have the same number on both phone and watch and if so is the phone eSIM? I am with t-mobile in Czechia and here they have eSIM for one use (activation of only 1 device) and so same number can not be on phone and watch. They do offer so-called twin SIM with same number for 2 devices (even though only one can be registered live in the system at any time), but not eSIM... I find it interesting that they can do same number for Apple phone and watch, but not for Samsung and they claim, that it is a limitation of the chipset used in Samsung, but I think it is their mobile system that is limited...Apparently t-mobile Germany can do this so once again the Germans rule and we are ages behind
Excellent video. Thank you for clearing the doubts. Never before was so clear what LTE watch means. Love from India
Great bit of information! Thank you!
I have the Galaxy watch4 LTE and I am currently switching to a new provider as they can provide the signal to my watches E-sim. I am excited to try a few days without my phone!
Thank you for this amazing job . I definitely want one now
Thanks, this video was perfect for answering all my questions, very much appreciated!
Fantastic video! Thank you sir! It looks like other people were wondering about the Google maps like me. 👍☺️
Love your videos! Thank you.
Awesome video, thank you. I've been looking for a video that would show me exactly what the watch does in LTE mode. You rock!
Such a helpful and entertaining review! Thank you!
Puppy is adorable!!
Was very excited for my watch but the battery is nothing to brag about. 46mm LTE, I am not getting a day. I don't use AOD or many battery draining features. A huge let down compared to my Fitbit Sense and Ticwatch Pro 3. Other than that... love it. Watch faces are nice and health features are robust. Play Store is also very welcomed.
Great video man!!! I was able to resolve all my doubts about the LTE version of the Samsung Galaxy watch 4 through it.
I can't believe how much I'm enjoying my Classic 46mm LTE with my red and black bands. I got mine yesterday and yes I have a new line with the same number for my watch. It's great and I have the S20 Ultra.
Hi, can you have calls on your watch via 'watch only' mode with turned of Bluetooth on your Phone for more than 7minutes. Mine is poppin overheating errors while having a call via watch LTE only :(
@@Tangierer I had the same issue while being on a 5 minute phone call in standalone mode. I was in direct sunlight and the temperature was 100°F.
@@PTrukr no problems under normal temperatures in LTE only mode?
Great video as always!!! Thank you... I have the LTE version too... This is my first LTE watch.. I agree with your points for LTE!! :)
sounds great, let me know how you like it!
I must say, I am so enjoying the vibe 😌
Thank you sir.
Great vid ive been very curious what advatage to have lte watch if u always have ur phone with u anyways
Great video, I'd get the lte version now but last time they would never turn my lte on, the company (tmobile) would say it was on but it never was, so I never got to use it without Bluetooth.. then there's the problem with them always adding protection even when I say I don't want it. Every. Single. Time. So the less I deal with any phone company, the better.
Another fantastic video ! Thanks.
Fantastic information, great video and editing. Hope your channel continues to grow!
Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video it helped me so much
Great explanations, you helped me out, to know I ordered the LTE GPS version, now, I am glad. Thanks!
Very crip and clear details about what I was looking for.. thank you so much
Excellent video. Very good info. Thank-you! This helped me decide to get the LTE version, Galaxy watch 5 now.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO. THE WHOLE WORLD NEEDED IT, YOU THOUGHT OF THIS WHEN NO ONE ELSE DID. MUCH LOVE FROM THE UK NEWCASTLE. X
Awesome, I used to live in Newcastle upon Tyne for a couple of years around 2001. Had a blast and met so many amazing people!
Thank you, your videos are really helpful 👍
Thank you for watching
Thank you for taking the time to review this.
Thank you so much for your great and super informative/in-depth videos. I can't wait to buy the Galaxy Watch 4...my very first smartwatch 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻.
I just have one question, please. I don't really want to get the LTE version, so I wanted to know what is the approximate distance that is covered by the Bluetooth. Let's say I'm running around the house, do I have to have my phone close by or can it be a good distance away? The reason I'm asking is that with my Galaxy Buds + the coverage is not great, perhaps 5m.
Thank you 😊 and have an awesome day 🙌🏻
Maximum 10m
At least in Norway, a lot of carriers doesn't have eSim. Just the two largest I think
thanks for the info ! clear and explained very well !!
Finaly complete information. Danke. It will good to see a real hikking test.
Good work! Subbed
Knew I liked this guy within 10 seconds by the way he was dressed, gotta love a upbeat happy German guy, work with one and he's endless fun. Great review, just bought one.
Schönes Video, danke für die Informationen. Gerade eine BT-Version gekauft und wenige Minuten danach bereue ich es schon wieder :D
Thanks 👍 for telling me as I was only looking for the functions of galaxy watch 4
Finally a video that shows usage of Google maps on watch 4. Keep it up.
Hi, u look positive guy :) im waiting for my today will come to me :) happy to look yout video before get in hands my new watch :)
Literally this review answer all of my questions mate, cheers
Great video as always but... I have had every single Samsung LTE watch. even though you do not need your phone with you. it still has to be connected up to a phone as it does remotely connect to the phone (well it does in the UK anyhow) This I have been told by both Samsung and my current carrier EE. And in the UK you are required to have the same network for both your phone and the esim. ie it then becomes paired. and ofc in the UK still have to pay a separate charge for this for EE it is £7 a month. but like i said even though the watch has its own esim. it still connects to your main phone you originally paired it up with either via wifi /Bluetooth or lte.Keep up the great work
Thanks for sharing!
It's a shame the UK networks don't use the same system as the USA and other European networks where the watch connection is actually a cloned number of your main phone account. This let's you use the watch 100% independently from the phone
Thanks a lot for the in depth review. I've been searching high and dry till now.
🙂I just saw this video, after your short for the Watch 6 hehe On my Watch 4, I have a seperate phone number from my phone. I got my "Watch number" back when I had my Samsung Gear S. (I still have my Gear S, I still like the bigger display on it and would add it on my plan too, but sometimes it freezes and I have to reset it. I need to send it back to Samsung and see if they can refurbish it) Back then, you added your watch as an add on for another 10$(US) a month and you had it's own number, but the watch/phone had a setting that when your phone was out of Bluetooth range all calls from your phone would be sent to your watch. Starting with the Watch 4 this setting was dropped. Now to get call forwarding to your watch it has to have the same number and set up on your phone. I still like to have my seperate watch number. I really like the LTE model, and I do call from it occasionally. In order to call from it with it's number, I have to disconnect from the Bluetooth, then call. Anyway, great videos!!! Take care!!! ~~~ Norris
Thank you for actually showing and talking about thr LTE version! Not many talk about it!
thanks for the video! Hab genau danach gesucht :)
Great job covering the watch! Question: Is it possible to activate the LTE connection automatically when the phone is not close? Or the other way round, is it possible that the watch disconnect the LTE connection when it detects the phone is close? (in case I forget to deactivate it at home and in order to save battery) TXS!
Sweet and apologies forgot to cover this. It’s on Auto by default which means it will automatically connect to your phone via Bluetooth (no LTE) and once you are out of reach for Bluetooth and/or WiFi it will switch to LTE. So you have 3 options in settings 1.auto 2. Always on (LTE) 3. Always off (LTE)
@@ALLSTARSPACE I think you just answered my question...please confirm. If I have the lte version can I just not activate the lte with Verizon and use it as just the bluetooth version if I choose?
@@anitamiller7724 yes, correct
You actually saved my time by showing the list for E-SIM telecom support in INDIA i.e; AIRTEL & JIO 👍👍....
Airtel prepaid can support e sim?
the list is from 2020. check the updated version
@@mdsabah4074 nope, only jio provides prepaid e-sim, rest others require a postpaid connection unfortunately.
Great review. Thanks. Just one question please: How about when on holiday and using a foreign SIM card?
Absolutely superb video and commentary. I learned so much in preparation of my Galaxy Watch LTE purchase. I am now a subscriber. Thank you.
This is amazing! Thank you for your video and that story was a great reason. Awaiting my LTE activation now.
Another well put video!!!!
Thank you!
Thanks to you have purchase an lte version but it was draining battery like crazy between 5 am to 12 it had only 10 % so I went back to Samsung and exchange for another one and no problems so far it last a lot longer and you are right no phone allowed but watches no problems.
Galaxy Watch 4 Active - still waiting even though pre-ordered - should arrive by Sept 15 :$ , on my old Active 2 watch I had LTE - for Verizon I had to add a $10/month share plan to get it working , so I assume the same for Active 4 - I ended up getting rid of the plan because I typically carry my phone with me everywhere and now with the smaller Flip3 - it will be easier to carry . I did like the idea of not carrying my phone - i just never seemed to be in that situation . . . and I don't do any gardening work so I should be okay. But I agree with you - $10 is definitely worth it from a safety aspect
I know it is rare to leave your house without a phone...but you never know 😁
@@ALLSTARSPACE true- but I can absolutely see if for running - having a big candy bar in your running shorts is more of an annoyance than a help. - Great vid work and information!
I like this guy. Great energy and content.
Hey mate nice video really appreciate your effort in it! I'm realizing that the "Camera controller" doesn't work, I mean it's not even visibile on my watch! I'm surprised because it's really a basic feature! Any suggestion?
not sure, its all working fine for me..
Great video, thank you. Can the LTE connection be turned on & off, for example to conserve battery? My use case is occasional need of LTE connectivity (which may well be the typical use case for most users).
Yes, you can turn it off completely, leave it on auto, plenty of options.
Great Review, I ordered by Samsung and can't wait to test it. eSim will cost 2,95 Euro per Month for me in Germany. LTE is great 👍
Enjoy it
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences
Thank you for the great information it was helpful to decide what watch I want to purchase.
In ATL GA on September 1st Google Maps LTE does not navigate or work on my galaxy watch 4 44mm when not connected to a phone. Other apps work fine but a samsung tech specialist told me that Maps LTE requires a software update that is not yet available. I expect it to work eventually but it does not right now. Connected to my phone Maps works fine.
Yea thks for this info called my service even they didn't mention this need to know info, but yea love your videos very very helpful for me. And my code is on the way and all will be sweet yes u are right about the lte stand alone feature that is my main requirement for this gs4c thanks again
Wow, great video, thank you 😊 love your dog
You are so kind
Good video. Tell me something, please.
How do you turn off the fading of the screen when your hand is down? With active Google Maps.
How do you stop the screen from fading for a while?
Thank you so much for your answer.
Thinking about getting the galaxy watch 4 at some point thanks for the video
I'm a bit confused with what you said towards the end..."this feature is not available in regular galaxy watch 4"? If so, where are all this features available then, in galaxy watch 4 classic only?
This was really informative. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Great use case comparison 💯
Thanks for your videos. I just got my Watch 4 and 2 minutes into my first phone call, the watch ended the call because it overheated. I hope this was a fluke and not a normal occurance.
Most Awaited Video.
All good with LTE, the only problem is battery, which will be empty very fast on LTE...so, if you are in the woods with GPS on, LTE on, talking on the phone, I think you'll remain without battery in hours. Furthermore, I saw some reviews where users said that the watch become very hot when activate LTE and restart itself.
Yeah. My bluetooth watch even overheats when I'm charging it (after it hits 0% battery, which I try to avoid because we should).
This was amazing. Please do more
Excellent explanation and very detailed 👏
Glad you liked it
Thank you for this video.
Excellent review. Many thanks :)
Got my clasic lte today super excited my original galaxy watch stop working around 6 months ago and new the new watch was coming so been waiting.
I brought my mum the galaxy watch 4 she got hers two days before me lol.
Its already helped her in fact we may have found that she has a hart problem that we can now investigate, now that she has the watch we can see when and why her pulse goes up.
So yes itss already helped my mum.
Too be honest it's helping me as I have a disability that prevents me from doing exercise but even I am able too keep track of my health better especially with the body competitions feature it has I can keep an eye on the things I need too be carful off.
Thank you so much for sharing. All the best and keep us updated.
Amazing review!!!!....For listening to music, can we pair the bluetooth earphones with this watch?
Yes.
Give this man more subs. Best Galaxy Watch videos
Thanks so much for the review! (Vielen Dank für Ihre Bewertung!) I would have never know that it is possible to have the LTE version use the same number. How often was the watch LTE getting mobile coverage?
My Watch 4 Classic is ordered but won't arrive for a couple weeks due to backorder. My Gears S3 Frontier battery is finally draining too fast for my liking. 100% in the evening and 65% when I wake up. Can't wait to see what the new hardware and OS can do.
Great video man!
