"our brass line was like really good this year" My guy you were in crown, that's like... their thing.
Legit word for word what I said when I heard him say that
He's got a point...
Yeah i was like umm when have they not had a good brass line
I think he was taking the piss with that remark
@@JRBanitt I'd say 06 and earlier.
“Our brass was really good this year” it’s Carolina crown when is it not
In 2002... when I marched in the drumline. lol
@@PaddricRyan that makes sense. That was the year before Matt Harloff got there. He was the one who made the brass what it is.
@@aiden5507 I'll never forget being at regiment the next year and being like, "ohhhhh, this is what its supposed to be.." 🤣
@@PaddricRyan lol
@@PaddricRyan Oh you followed Rennick to PR, did you march at Crown in 2001?
Every marching percussion judge ever:
To battery: Be sure you watch the clarity in those cheeses going into the pataflaflas and only do the hi mom if everyone can achieve it
To front ensemble: (has no clue what to say) Good job guys :)
That's why, i think front ensemble need a judge for their own
@@FilipusWisnumurti they used to have one for the big shows. Not sure what happened
Sounds about right!
front ensemble deserves more recognition tbh
Something something something laterals, something senority.
“If the judge was farther away where he couldn’t see or hear us as well, we would’ve scored better” - Eric Carr
Who else heard him say “our brass line was like really good this year” and went to the comments and say 10 people already talking about it?
Sorry I ticked that night.
I'm "that guy who broke his leg"
I was pretty quiet...until my incident, so I don't blame you for not remembering me lol.
#CMFC
buddy u gave ur best
I saw that happen live. I marched open that year and saw that at finals
Ryan, what happened that made your leg snap? Did you have a good recovery?
I realize this is 7 months later Ryan, but............................you're cut. ;)
i know its been like 11 years but is your leg better now?
My heart goes out to that guy who broke his leg on his last night of competition. Like, that probably stuck with him forever if he was ageing out that year.
He aged out in 2012, he has been on the admin team ever since.
@@brianhancock6650 he was DM in 2011 and 12 I believe
@@pengua5069 He took 11 off and was a DM in 12. :)
@@brianhancock6650 Great to hear that his DCI experience had a happy ending!
I was sitting near the field and heard that poor man's screams, it was a bad compound break...and it happened because he was giving it his all. I'm glad he recovered well.
In '18 we named a prop after him because it kept breaking.
Me getting a free 2010 Crown show and EMC productions at the same time
This was such an underrated show. Sounds like some old school Cadets writing!
Shut up Kevin
I guess you want 17 people to shut up too
Shut up Kevin
One bead
I learned to play Brass at Carolina Crown, in early part of 93, I was offered a chance to march BLuecoats just as season started and Crown graciously allowed me to go up to Bluecoats as that was my ageout year and a chance to march a top 12 was hard to pass up and Kevin Smith told me that he would be mad if I did not take that chance being that I was an ageout. Crown will always hold a special place in my heart and I will cheer them on when ever I can its hard when they compete with my Bluecoats but that is DCI and competition.
@@flarfatron2190 im new as well but they weren't really elite like they are now till like 2009
Imagine an era where you could actually join a corps and learn an instrument instead of having to be basically a performance major
@@flarfatron2190 no they were in the Division I corps that year.
@@gaberobison680 the Bluecoats took a chance with me and taught me to play. There are still corps Blooo included that will take someone and teach them. They look to the person and your willingness to learn and put the effort in. That is what makes Blooo so special is that they believe in a family atmosphere over anything else and they enjoy entertaining the crowd first.
The timpanist from this show is one of the drum techs at my high school. He's awesome.
What is his name
Lol show him this video and see if he remembers Eric
Watching this makes me miss field judges so much. I took a picture at 2016 Finals of the percussion judge being right in the middle of the final Crown set of Relentless. It's gorgeous.
Watching DCI field judges avoid being flattened was a key part of the fun of watching drum corps!! Such a shame that those days are over :( Also can't understand how accurate judging can take place from yards away. 🤔
You should do a video we’re u try to play your old show again
That would actually be really awesome
Bro I'm literally addicted to CC 2010 it's such a good show
I'm curious if on the field you were able to hear the judge yelling into his mic or are you too busy going dut dut and shredding the tenors
That's a good question
Yeah we can hear the judge sometimes. Gets us hyped.
when i was in boa st.louis 2015 prelims, the field judge went up to the basses (the section i was in) and said “basses need to get their stuff together” 🤣 but when the director told us that, we didn’t know if he meant feet timing or the split
Always cool hearing the judge, unless he's calling you out LOL
In my experience we heard random out of context notes. ‘Right there’ ‘wow that’s difficult’ ‘that was (word I couldn’t hear at the time)’ However I tended to be a bit hyper focused on performing, not to mention my line had the habit drilled into us that we ignore them in their entirety. To the point I clearly remember the answer to someone asking ‘what if they get in our way?’ Being ‘run them over’
I thought the clarinets were especially good this year.
You’re delusional they were carried by the oboes
Y’all are completely ignoring the spectacular performance by the piccolo.
How the hell are we forgetting the string bass and saxophone?
@@erikwaterson361 are yall just forgetting about that amazing flute solo
are you guys joking? cmon that bassoon trio was killer. and then they rolled out that contrabassoon and MMMM best show ever
For No Tick November, you should do a reaction video to Cadets 2013 percussion tape with Jeff Prosperie. That Drumline was SO good!!
I think the 2012 Bluecoata with JJ Pipitone is the hypest I’ve ever seen a judge. But that is the year they won high percussion, so I guess it’s warranted😂
I only marched in high school, but we were very competitive (state champs baby woo!). And it was back when judges were on the field with the performers. The instructors repeatedly told us, "If a judge is in your way, scream 'move!' and continue with the performance. If you hit them and kill them, it is their fault." LOL But we also marched shows like Buddy Rich's Channel One Suite and we were flying across the field most of the time. The truth is, you just don't have time to watch out for judges when you are jazz running across the field at 150 BPM.
Fun fact. Evan worrel(who I think was the center snare this year) is now one of the main percussion techs at my school. I just switched to bass from French horn because I’m a bigger dude and I freaking rocked tryouts😎😂 but I’ll ask him about this performance!
Love the content 👍 And a great performance from CC as well.
Thanks! And you are the first comment. Good job.
enigma variation makes such good ballads, i marched one my freshman year
I was like "why TF is the line so loud on the recording" and then I saw our funky little man running along besides the line and I was like oh
dude i havent watched your channel in a few months and seeing you past 100k is so amazing to see. Ill keep notifications on so i dont miss the good stuff anymore. keep up the amazing work!
I got my first ever judge knockout last week, the most fun part was listening to the tape the next day. Needless to say, I enjoyed that competition
I literally thought about this video being a thing a couple of days ago
Such foresight!
“2nd movements of symphonies lmao” this is the first of mahler 2-
I just realized I sound like one of those people, sorry y’all I’ll shut up lmao
I ordered a xymox pad in April of last year and I still haven't gotten anything so yea if you are thinking of getting something from them. Keep that keep that in mind
Lmao, I ordered mine last year in April too. It's been over 18 months and I still haven't gotten it.
same, now they don't even answer their emails.
SAME, April of last year
@@xanderrouk I've been waiting since last September, I'm sorry about that bois. Last pad I got was here in like 4 months, thought itd be the same lol
The mallet percussion in the ballad is beyond exceptional. Christiansen didnt give them near enough credit. Wow!
Just found the channel and enjoying it. Keep it up. Taking me back to my drum corp days. Thanks
Thanks for a great show, I had the privilege of being there that night. Crown is a bit of a wonder in their quick rise to excellence which they've sustained. (Yah, I'm an old guy). You're right about the judge's responsibility during finals week. Allan Christensen is a gem of a man, genuinely supportive and an excellent educator.
GREAT commentary on a great show! It was very interesting to hear your insights and provide details we mere mortals would never have known if not for you.
What happened that made the horn guy's leg break? That has to be the worst thing that has ever happened in a finals performance.
True story: I remember ya'll were ON FIRE back in 2010 when Ashley was on snareline (before the tendonitis set in and she was relegated to the front ensemble) after I watched you all perform live at the high school I was instructing at that time: Martinsburg High School out of Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Ah, the memories. If only we can all have a SECOND CHANCE at watching a live DCI performance before 2022!
I miss having a real show. It’s my first year on tenors this year and even tho I’m a sopohomore, I have a game tmro and 1 more next weeks. We only got to go to 4 games in total Bc we can only go to home games. We are marching to 1 song tmro for the first time and I miss having a show. I hope there will be drumcorp this year and I hope to it my first year this year. You have inspired me to want to do drum Corp EMC! Love the content and hope I can be as good as u one day!
Even though I’m a wind player, I completely relate with everything u just said. He also inspired me and got me into drum corps and im starting camp in a week. I know it was from 9 months ago but I hope they went well.
When you do a show so many times during a summer, can you, 10 years later, still remember how to play/march it?
To a degree. I remember pretty much my entire opener from high school 2009. But emotional connection to the show definitely helps.
If you can remember all the vocals and true, the emotional aspect, the muscle memory can slot itself in decently, but it will be hard to recall it all.
I remember seeing this show in person in Chambersburg Pa. it was in the beginning of July if I remember correctly. Loved the show that year, and yeah you guys didn’t have it easy that year. Haha
Its almost as if xymox is counting Nevada’s votes
I remember seeing you guys in Atlanta that year. Had some South Florida peeps marching with you in the tenor line and bass line from STRYKE. Good stuff!
"our brass line was like really good this year" he says completely aware of the fact that there called "Gods Horn line"
This show had some of my favorite drum writing of all time! It’s dope that you marched 2010!
The male lead guard performer in this show is so effin' amazing. wowza
Hey me and EMC got the same favorite part of the show (the Danzon part). We need more Latin grooves on this channel.
I want to preface this by saying, this is one of my favorite shows of all time and the end of the season it was fantastic.
When I saw this show live it was at Chambersburg, PA. Fairly early season. To be honest.... the battery kind blew it that night, and I remember thinking "That's a ton of notes" and "Man, they're gonna have a rough day tomorrow."
The difference to the end of the season was night and day. To this day it's still my favorite crown show, and one of my favorite DCI shows in general.
I'm just simply amazed how talented he is
Allan was my field judge at BOA Grand Nats back in 2011!! Nice job!!
I'm a hc/grind guy that wandered in from this dude's blast beat vid and I'm so lost. I can't tell jokes from earnest comments and there's a ton of random jargon. I'm enjoying it
I would love to see the actual video with the kid who broke his leg. I remembered seeing a bunch of staff members running onto the field. It was crazy
this has been one of my favorite crown shows.
Awesome show, this is my first time seeing it. I love the drill!
Eric, I Liked this, then I Unliked it so that I could Like it again. CC 2010 is one of my favorite shows of all time. Fantastic!
4:06 to the end of movement will always be my favorite book segment ever written
ugh, Carrie Vandoren and Herbert Washington, and Philip Cohen, those were the Guard Soloist/story tellers. AMAZING I regret not being able to march this year and the following (my age out)
Thanks for not skipping NIMROD!!!
Y’all were moving that year! It was my first year as a staff member. I remember that happening and the staff member going on the field to help him out.
When did the judges stop going out on the field?!?!? I checked out for a bit.... Also, seriously, you crack me up. Really enjoyed the video when you submitted homework to bands you didn't belong to.... great idea! Sincerely, Music Teacher and Star of Indiana pit alumni :)
Bruh. This is one of my favorite shows. Easily top 3. It’s so underrated!
@EMCproductions ah yes, the all too familiar. My brass line is the best brass line smirk. Love it
dude, allan kristensen was the individual music performance judge at our last competition and he had the best judge tape i had ever seen
That Elgar arrangement though... 😍😍😍
Lots of my instructors at Madison 16’ were part of crown at that time. Great show indeed
I miss shows like this! todays shows are a bit too much wgi...i said it
your favorite part of the show is part of my high schools show for the 2021 season. im marching tenors on it
Love the content!
I’ve never heard this show before. The ballad was the same as the ballad in my high school show last year, so it was really weird to hear you guys playing it, even though I know you did it first.
16:10 I had to laugh about "back in my day!". I am more than twice your age, so I say that all the time! 😉🤭🧓😘. Yes, you did sound like an old man!
Didn't know you marched Crown, not it makes sense lol
I hope DCI is back next year, I want to show my son while he's still young
"...and she chose the guy in the last year's costume..." LMAO
The horn line is good every year in crown, phantom and crown have the best horn lines
i ordered a tenor pad from xymox in February i have emailed them many times as well and i haven't gotten response from them so i assume they just took my money
Seems to be an issue with tenor pad companies, what's with that?!
That’s on xymox, mine took about 8 months to come in
i think it’s cool tht out caption head for GE 2018 marched in this show. she told us about the splice tht they did becuz the dude broke his leg. i some how feel a little closer to eric now :)
Great show!!!
Relating to that guy who broke his leg. Last year during the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade our band had a flute player trip and bend their flute in half. I guess they got lucky the camera wasn’t on them.
As a former flute player, that made me cringe out loud. Jesus.
Allen Kristensen is such a great judge. Wish I had him in Open Class
the lady on the vibes is GETTING INTO IT at 7:30 :D
My band instructor marched with you this year lol
2018 scv barcode on pants, foreshadowing of the mark of the beast.
Also - watching the judge almost get taken out by brass made my night.
Smokin' Eric! any lot tapes of 2010 Carolina Crown available?
Man y'all were tearing it up!
Before endless marching props...
Hopefully I’ll march there soon!
oh shit, we aged out together. I marched Boston. I remember waiting in the tunnel with tha big ass chair with the corps director for retreat and he gets a call from his wife FLIPPING OUT about that horn line member who went down. Needless to say, every one of us Crusaders were so concerned about them.
Not all second movement of symphonys. It's called 2nd chance because the opening and last symphonic experts are from Mahler's 2nd, a symphony that is not only a 2nd symphony, but is about the death and resurrection of humans in the eyes of God.
Wait, 2010 crown? I marched revo that year, open class, so we watched finals that year. I saw that finals performance with the horn player and the leg
Was that Danzon #2 in the second movement of the show? I played that in high school in my band.
damn that snare writing is t h i c c
Please watch 2010 Phantom. LOVE that show.
My percussion director is your bell player, Grace
danzon no 2 slaps no cap we played that in concert season at my high school
The CC snareline from 08 - 2011 was God Tier
I'm curious now because my current band director did carolina crown and is about the same age. Did you know a trumpet player named Tyler Dieterich? Im pretty sure he also played in this show
Those flags @4:50 were freaking BEAUTIFUL
A tick here there a tick everywhere a tick tick but over all you did an outstanding ticking job.
I wonder if I ever ran into you. I was a Div II timpani player in 2006 and 2007 so I guess it's entirely possible haha
Galena Park High School Played this music in their 2019 show
i love this guy
I went to college with Preston. Dude was chill at.
Latin section was awesome! Definitely my favorite part. Drum corps need to play more Latin music
Yes I’m big dci fan
