Just don't get the appeal. He plays to play. It's like Chopin's delicate rhythms and rubato are just a suggestion. I absolutely loathe what he did to these little gems. I know this will land me in Hell with his fans, but I can't be bothered. He is just strange.
I agree. But it’s not that he’s strange. The one who plays Chopin with a feeling to the delicacy of emotion, the languid movement of the mazurka and the gentle touch of a musician who loves and reads the music as it should be played to the exact note is Daniil Trifonov. He interprets Chopin. No staccato anything there.
@@joannabose7299 The first piece played by Kissin in this video is Mazurka No.3 in E major op. 6. I looked up a video with the music in it. And there are staccatos and accents all over the place. Just look (I linked to the right part): ua-cam.com/video/_6k8CUmtRE8/v-deo.html
Well the first Mazurka that he played is not delicate. Perhaps you are only complaining about certain pieces in this video -- and not the whole performance?
@Frederico Nam - Instead of “song” I think you meant last piano piece. Hey song has the lyrics to the song, and I did not hear Mr. Kissin singing lyrics at any point in this performance of 7 pieces by Chopin.
@@JD-qd5zp Just understand as you guessed, noboday understand this as he literally sang a song, or just be poetic. I'm not English speaker as you're born to be.
Graceless, mechanical; Kissen plays these pieces as if they were virtuoso showpieces, assaulted, not relished. Listen to Rubenstein - he knows how to play mazurkas!

ThePianoPlayer thank you from brazil
Excellent video and sound. Kissin's playing is masterful and expressive. A wonderful performance. Couldn't be better!
The performance is as good as it gets. The rhythm is inspiring.
Hi Edward - yes the rhythm is fab - Chopin & mazurka rhythm is special.
The phrasing is inspiring in its perfection.
I cannot believe his video had only 35K views since 2010. This is huge for music and performer!
Kissen plays these mazurkas with exquisite expressivity.
Mazurki Fryderyka Chopina to kwintesencja polskości. Wspaniałe wykonanie, bardzo dziękuję.
Kissin plays Chopin the way they are supposed to be played...with absolute expression and emotion, which is pretty rare in many performances... bravo!
Kissin and Pollini both are my favorites
Kissin plays chopin nothing like seong Jin cho
Absolutely superb! Thanks for sharing.
Yes a super performance!
I like how clear his playing sounds!
Superb music from a supper pianist! Bravo :-)
Always superb! My favorite pianist!
Superb!!! Thank you!!!
Beautiful interpretation! Thanks!
Wonderful listening. Many thanks.
My favorite ❤
Exelente interpretacion MEXICO
Merci😍🤩
fascinating!
I love🥰

last song has so many mis-touches, seems like he wanted to finish quickly.
